Dollywood is closing Adventure Mountain
Not a rumor, but here's hoping Dollywood gets a (proper) Drop Tower. That would be a neat spot for one, as you've got the train running along the hill on one side and Wild Eagle/Mystery Mine on the other to give riders an exaggerated sense of height. Kind of like how I hate sitting on the Skyflyer/Son of Beast/Eiffel Tower sides of Drop Tower because it reminds me how stinking high up I am.

Dollywood is closing Adventure Mountain
Meh... Wasn't that excited by Adventure Mountain. Never did it, but that sort of thing doesn't really interest me. It felt a little out-of-place to me at Dollywood--but that's again probably because I'm not wowed by rope courses.

KI in the hunt for Park of the Year 2012 Poll
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy or like I'm trying to overthrow your effort (I'm not), I voted for Holiday World. HW keeps growing into this bigger park but still manages to maintain this very personal and warm "small park" feeling. I do love KI (and, to a somewhat lesser extent, CP), but if you're asking me to pick between KI and HW, I'm probably going to pick Holiday World, despite how much I love Adventure Express and the childhood memories I have of KI. Edited after a couple likes to say: Now, if Dollywood were in the running...

Crypt Building's Fate
Just making the point that "dormant" would mean that the park has literally nothing to do with the building until Haunt, which is not the case, as TOPGUN has pointed out.

So, in other words, The Intepreter dislikes/detests Browntggr's criticism of his grammar, but he doesn't dislike Browntggr.

Crypt Building's Fate
^^ To be fair, if 2011 is any indication, they also use the building for storage. On closing day 2011, they'd already started to collect trash cans in the preshow room. So really, it's not that dormant at all.

Crypt Building's Fate
I realize the fate of the building isn't about to change, but I keep daydreaming of a renovation where the building is shrouded in evergreen trees. The theme would shift from Tomb Raider (which, really, was all The Crypt's "theme" was, anyway) to some sort of "spirit of the woods" theme (a la Verbolten, only less Germany and more Ohio.) The queue would be modified to resemble walking deeper and deeper into the woods, and the preshow chamber would instead have what appears to be a wolf statue atop some rockwork in the center of the room (with the rest of the room changed to a "heart of the forest" theme, with faux sunlight shining into the room before and after the preshow.) Via a projection system (much like the one used at the front gate at Haunt a season or two ago), the wolf statue would appear to come to life and tell some foreboding tale about how humans have been a curse on the forest and how the riders may leave in peace or else press on and face the consequences. Not that I've been thinking about it a whole lot or anything, but I bet the Hunger Games score would blend really well with the theme, too. I mean... not that I've thought about it much, but I think an edited form of James Newton Howard's "Healing Katniss" would make a neat queue theme. And they could maybe play "The Hunger Games" in the outdoor queue. And then they could... I dunno, use an edited form of "Rue's Farewell" for the preshow ambiance. And then I guess they could use "Katniss Afoot" for the loading music, and maybe they could use an edited "Muttations" for the ride, which would then contain an encounter with the "spirit of the forest" in the form of a giant wolf carving that comes to life and engages the riders in a battle of the elements. ...Not that I've thought about it or anything. (Old habits die hard, I guess.)

Cedar Fair's Matt Ouimett Presents at UBS Global Media Conference
I generally like the sound of all of this. Sounds like Luminosity's on its way to other parks in 2013 and beyond. What concerns me: Did they start doing this this year at CP or something? (I've never been to Halloweekends.) I really dislike the idea of upcharge haunts... Hope this isn't the new trend. Or are they talking about the fact that Haunt isn't included with the standard pass?

eBay Items
I realize this is a pretty huge bump, but given that this is the closest thing this site has to a general "interesting eBay items" thread... Have you guys seen the Kings Island Wurlitzer organ record that's on eBay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUEEN-OF-KINGS-ISLAND-Volume-1-LP-Wurlitzer-Duplex-Orchestral-Organ-Style-157-NJ-/370688555240?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item564ec278e8 Its Buy It Now price is $7.50. I don't personally have that much of an attraction to it outside of novelty (and don't have a record player), but I figure someone here might be interested. Just thought I'd pass it along!

Technical fixes I believe require Dane, who is most likely the one who installed the update. I originally had this issue, but then I emptied the cache in Chrome. It's working fine now.

Your SoB memories
Any memories I have related to Son of Beast are pretty much only related to the people I rode it with. It used to be a staple of a visit to the park in 2008 because my friend loved it. I liked The Crypt more than SoB (which should say something about SoB, considering how much I liked TR:TR), so we'd usually trade off rides. I'd ride Son of Beast once with my friend, and then she'd ride The Crypt with me. The only thing that really interested me about Son of Beast was looking at the pieces of Diamondback's supports stored behind the ride and being surprised at how big the supports looked to me. I didn't think that season was that great at the time, but I now think that's probably been my favorite season since I started buying my own pass in 2008. (Ironically, both of those rides are gone now!) The only exceptional memory of the ride I have is of the one time I rode it in the dark after a light, prolonged rain in 2008. The train was totally hauling through the course, which somehow ended up easing some of the jackhammering in the helices. It still wasn't that great, but it was probably the best ride I ever got on it. The heightened sense of speed surprised me. I also remember noticing how weird it was the couple times I rode it in 2009 that there was another coaster across the park around the same height as SoB. Didn't know those rides would be the last I had, but I really can't say I miss the ride for any reason besides nostalgia. That being said, I rode the thing enough to remember the hanging feeling when the train entered the turn out of the station, the awkward way the train jumped back and forth between the rails on the first big turn, and the way the jackhammering would inescapably force your elbows into your legs if you tried to resist the shaking. I've got whiplash just thinking about it. (Sorry if that post didn't flow well... I'm a little worn out, so all the thoughts just kinda spilled out all at once.)

What do you look for in Amusement/Theme Parks?
In general: What makes me want to visit a park are the rides. What makes me like a park is if everything else is done well. I originally went to Holiday World for Voyage and Kennywood for Thunderbolt, but I ended up loving both parks for much more than just those rides. The exceptions to that seem to be the Busch parks and Islands of Adventure, which I want to visit mostly because of the whole experience and theming. (Well... that, and Gwazi, Verbolten, Kumba, and Dragon Challenge. )

HoliWood Nights 2013
Oh, I would absolutely love to be there. Trust me, the motivation's there--I just have to make sure I'll have the means and the availability, too. If there's one thing I like, it's being around people who get excited about the things I get excited about while doing those exciting things. Plus, the idea of riding Raven at night sounds amazing. (I know Voyage and Legend are probably great, too... Raven just strikes me as having the most potential for greatness at night.) Oddly enough, I had a guy wearing an ACE jacket try to convince me to go to Holiwood Nights last time I visited Holiday World using almost the exact same reasons. As I still thought at the time that finals would coincide with the event, I told him I wouldn't be able to... and then he tried to justify me not studying for finals that weekend. I can honestly say I've never had someone try to tempt me before or since to neglect school for the sake of roller coasters. That wasn't you, by chance, was it?
