Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
coasterguy15 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
To get back on topic, I must say that the shading in the queue line is actually fairly decent. I would've thought that it would be very sunny in the line with that style of shading but it seems to be rather effective. -

I was just looking at the cam and I noticed a lot of people walking around the place. A few people are at the bottom of the first hill, under the 10th hill, and just walking around the midway. This makes me so excited! -
Ride Diamondback With Tony & Tyler! contest

This is awesome! -
Well, my guess as to why they put "Kings Island" on the sign is so that if someone takes a picture of the sign and posts it somewhere, people will know where it is from. That is just my guess.

I'll be honest. That's no where near what I expected the size of the splash to be. This may be due to the perspective and the fact that it's the first test, but that's just my opinion. -

That's a very cool idea! This just makes me even more excited to be in Kings Island! At the end of my school announcements this morning, everybody in the school was Rick Rolled! The video just spontaneously started playing and everybody was just laughing. I was cracking up at the irony of this. It kept going for the whole song, but I don't know for sure because my teacher finally turned it off. -

Ha ha! I forgot the Tickle Giggle Turn there! That was funny. -
This probably sounds terrible, but, I have never had a night ride on Beast and I've been going to KI since 2003! I've ridden at dusk but not night. When I went to CP, I rode three coasters at the dark of night (I mean with no sunlight whatsoever). MF, TTD, and Maverick. MF was definitely the best and most exhilarating ride ever. TTD was next best because we almost had a roll back and going down the top hat in the dark was awesome. Maverick was pretty cool because you could look out into the dark area that was the lake. But it is last on my list because it doesn't really feel like a night ride due to all of the lights during the ride.

"As of Wednesday, Kings Island has received more than $75,000 in bids to be among the first to ride the park’s new Diamondback roller coaster. Allan Hague from Yantis, Texas currently holds the top bid – $3,100 for one seat. Hague has also placed bids on five other seats totaling $1,900. Kings Island has also received an in-kind donation of $50,000 from Bonneville Radio Cincinnati in support of this auction. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the first ride auction will benefit A Kid Again, an organization dedicated to providing fun-filled adventures for children suffering from life threatening illnesses and their families. Bidding ends in three weeks, April 15 at 8:30am. - Don Helbig" New blog update about how much money has been raised so far and the top bidder, Mr. Hague. -

Well, it looks like the main queue has been connected to the entrance side of the station. Also, it looks like the sign is getting some attention as well as the midway in front of the entrance. -
I dont know if its really going to turn into a great thing. the idea of having music and sound effects blaring in my ears during a ride just doesn't sound that enjoyable. But I'm sure it will be a good thing in the end even though i have never ridden it and am not planning to in the near future. But I definitely WANT to ride it.

Hmm, while I was at CP, I found that holding on to the OTSRs and sticking your head as forward as possible worked pretty well. I guess whatever floats your boat is fine though . But to answer the topic question, it depends for me. If it's a big hill or a smooth ride, hands up the whole way! But if its rather bumpy, I hold on just for stability.

Awesome! How did you get that shot? Were you leaving from job orientation or whatever? -
Ha, that would be an interesting teaser campaign for a new ride or something!

yeah, I think that if KI were to expand in the future, then it would be behind Firehawk and X-base. That would be awesome if KI did expand!

I don't know of any wheelchair access points specifically, but I bet that the spot where you put the yellow line would be a good guess. Where you put the orange and blue lines is all the exit path. The blue line leads to the on ride photo booth and souvenir shop and the other way is the main exit, for those that want to do something else.
