Potter Crowds Push IOA to capacity
coasterguy15 replied to Delirium_Guy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I really wish that somehow, Disney would have thought of doing the Harry Potter themed are before Universal. Disney would have had a hard time fitting it into their current park layouts, but I think Disney would have been able to make it bigger, meaning more guest capacity, due to the fact that they are not very land-locked. They also would have done a better job with hiding the behind-the-scenes stuff like ride buildings. When I went to IOA on the 28th of last month, I noticed most of the ride buildings there were rather exposed, while in contrast Disney World does an excellent job at hiding the boring buildings. But, WWOHP was amazing even though it was ridiculously crowded. -
Woohoo, I'm so excited!

woohoo! so glad that they are doing this!

That was one of the most eerie and freaky videos I have ever seen. But very cool, nonetheless. -

I dont know how to post the link, but Holiday World posted a video on youtube of the first people to ride the new Timberliner trains! -
Agree, 100%

cool thing is, google maps updated their pictures of the Cincy area over the summer. KI is all decked out in their Snoopy-ness and DB looks amazing from a few hundred feet high.

Should KI and Cedar Fair Discontinue Halloween Haunt?
coasterguy15 replied to RaptorGuy's topic in Kings Island
I agree with many of your criticisms of Kings Island's Haunt event. I just don't see them canceling it though. It probably brings in a good amount of money for the park, it's one of the biggest halloween events in Cincinnati, and I have a feeling that the public's opinion of Kings Island would be for the worse if they decided to cancel Haunt. But, as you mentioned, bringing back Winterfest would, if done correctly, draw in large crowds and more than likely be a success. -
For 2011: It's Children and Comfort
coasterguy15 replied to pkiboy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This is such an amazing decision on HW's part. Listening to what the public is saying, a lot, and then addressing the matters of comfort and convenience. I just can't convey in words how impressed I am by the people down at Holiday World. On second thought, Holiday World is just that good. They are taking the concept of an amusement park and enhancing the "enjoyment and relaxation" aspect by tenfold. Not just enhancing, but going beyond the call, thinking outside the box that is the modern day's amusement park, and creating an unforgettable experience for all of their visitors. -
Well, this summer was my first working summer. Sweeping at Kings Island was probably the most eye-opening experience for me in terms of what it takes to run a business. It was a wonderful learning process with many benefits like free park entry for example. Also, going to Cedar Point for 4 days was a blast. This summer was probably one of the best summers of my life.

I definitely do not think that they are going to remove the eurobubbles. They are new for this year, as has been mentioned, and they added the yellow fabric awning over the attraction just a month ago. With improvements to an attraction like that, I'd bet it's safe to say the eurobubbles are not leaving.

I ran the 10k and thought it was a blast. I also ran last year's 10k and it improved drastically from a logistics and excitement stand point. The course was more interesting, as in not 2 miles of parking lot, the organization was awesome, starting line was awesome, I could go on and on. Big thanks to the race manager Don Connolly and KI for making this year's race so great!

I think they should have named WindSeeker something like Son of Zephyr, or Super Zephyr. Then rename the kids one to a corresponding name. It would have brought quite a laugh to a lot of people in my opinion

^^ with your idea of not messing up the Eiffel Tower view, having it in the back part of coney wouldn't work. Have you ever been back there and looked straight at the Eiffel Tower? It's a straight on view of the backside of the tower. i know its not a big deal, but i just thought id point that out Or are you talking more towards the x-base side of coney?

Wow, I'm kind of in shock at how quickly and unexpectedly that came. I do remember though one day while I was at the park about a month ago, they were testing the soil consistency (or something with one of those big hole diggers) over in the grassy area between the eurobubbles and Vortex's bathrooms.

After noticing the signs have degree markings on them, Im going to guess that it's for some sort of geocaching or scavenger hunting activity that involves GPS units or compasses.
