  1. Need more info on arcade games in the I Love the 80s place!
  2. Awesome thread, thank you! I hope everyone has a great opening day!!! :)
  3. I have a friend who goes to KI every 4th, noting that it's never really that crowded because folks tend to go other places? Anyone ever go on the 4th?
  4. Maybe it's just me, but in the past few years, I've been to KI many times where the need for a FL pass would have been kinda silly. Sure, if you go during a busy day, you'll have to wait, and perhaps the wait will be a bit longer than it has been now that FL is in place. However, I went to Haunt last year, one of the earliest days they had it to be fair, and we were laughing at the concept of people having paid for them. I actually felt bad for the FL folks when we were waiting like 15 min for DB. Is it possible that FL will ruin everything at KI and make lines multiple times longer? Perhaps. But I also think that a lot of folks are getting antsy over something that will have little impact, especially if you plan your trip with the idea of what will be the busiest days in mind...
  5. Weren't most HH nights super crowded already? Are we really comparing apples to apples here for wait times and how FL affects them?
  6. I think Stitch is ok. I have never understood the hatred for it either. I'm just kinda "eh" about it.
  7. Spaceship Earth is awesome. But then again, I am a sucker for anything with audio animatronics (I love Carousel of Progress, a ride I'm surprised no one on here has mentioned). As far as dumbest rides, I can't think of anything. Maybe SOB, because when I got off of it, I told my wife it was so painful to never let me ride it again. Weird because I love wood coasters. Funny thing is, if it opened tomorrow, I'd probably ride it!
  8. It's not on the park map, nor on the website. I'd take that as confirmation.
  9. Is there a "New Exit" as well? I picture that on the other side of "New Entrance" for some reason...but I could be wrong on that.
  10. Yep, it's a bummer. It's my son's favorite ride in the world, and when we go down this summer, it will be closed. We're trying very hard to prep him for this trauma, but I think no matter what we do, he'll still be crushed when we go to Epcot...
  11. Rumor I've heard is that they are going to pretty radically change TT's indoor area. Maybe they'll change those CRT TV's that have been in the pre-show since the ride opened! lol
  12. Really wish they'd sell stuff like this. They could just set up an online store and sell them as they get orders for them. Wouldn't take much (I do this for a living)...
  13. That's interesting, I find HS to be my favorite Disney Park. Tower of Terror, Rock & Roller Coaster, Star Tours (new version is fantastic!), Toy Story Mania...all are excellent. If they were to put in something new, I am BEGGING for the Crush Coaster to be brought over from Disney Paris. That ride is so, so fun. Compared to the other 3 parks, DHS seems to be the weakest. DHS and AK have way less to do than MK and EPCOT, but at least AK is better themed. DHS seems to be stuck with empty soundstages (Narnia, the "Hot Set" next to Midway Mania, the infamous Sounds Dangerous...) and the poor, unfortunate backlot tour (although I enjoy the backlot tour just for the queue area, which features old props from Horizons and World of Motion!). It just seems like there's not enough to do to keep you occupied for a whole day. I know many folks seem to feel the same way as you, so I am a bit of an outsider on loving DHS. But love it I do. Love the theming on the main street there, almost more than Main Street USA at MK. I should also note that, not being an animal nut, I find AK to be my least favorite park by far, not only of Disney parks, but of pretty much any amusement/theme park. There are so few thrill rides, with the exception of Everest of course, which is a good ride (although they really need to fix the Yeti if it's still down). Dinosaur is alright, and Khali Rapids is ok, but way, WAY too short. The biggest issue to me, though (and I know I'm not alone on this), is that you have to walk FOREVER to get from ride to ride. They are spaced very far apart, and it just seems that somehow it is the hottest park on planet earth. Anybody who says EPCOT stands for "Every Person Comes Out Tired" must have never been to AK. It's a killer.
  14. I take it you've ridden it? I found it to be a great, great ride, a nice mix of a dark ride plus a coaster...

  16. I think the issue is that KI, back in the day, was more of a THEME park. IS had truly an 'international' flavor; Hanna Barbara Land had the great themed Enchanted Voyage. Rivertown had that feel as well. So I think old-timers like myself remember those days, and wish it was more like that still. It's not, and may never be again. It doesn't make KI bad, as they've chosen to focus on thrill rides. If you like straight up thrill rides, KI smokes any single park Disney has. Disney has some great thrill rides, but in a single park in quantity like KI? Nope, not even close. I just wish that KI would do some small things to bring SOME theming back to the park. Change some music, fix up the broken windows on IS, that kinda thing. As I've said, a little can go a long way.
  17. I think the thing is, KI COULD do better theming pretty easily. Everyone thinks theming has to be a major, costly undertaking. It doesn't. Start with SIMPLE things, like changing the music on International Street. The cost do so would be completely minimal, and the effect would be great.
  18. I have to know...what was the KI Inn really like? Anybody stay there? Was it nice? I ALWAYS wanted to stay there, but sadly, never got to...
  19. I should also note I am fine with Disney changing their enforcement of FP. It's just a change, and they're not going to do something that causes folks en masse to turn against them. They take customer service to a level I've pretty much never seen in any business, theme parks or otherwise. Others may have had issues at WDW, but I like to go there because my experience is that my family & I are always be taken care of in a courtesy, pleasant manner.
  20. I've stayed both on and off site, and been to WDW at least twice a year for the past seven years. I've also stayed at resorts ranging from All-Star Movies to Pop Century to (I think) all the moderates to the Swan to the Beach Club. I've also stayed off site at hotels and rental properties. I say that not to brag, but to give a feel for what I am about to say. You can definitely stay cheaper off site...it depends on how you calculate such things. The biggest savings has nothing to do with the hotels, it has to do with your meals. For instance, we stayed at a town house a couple trips ago. We had a kitchen, so we hit Wal-Mart and had some frozen pizzas and 2-liters of soda. We also had all our breakfast meals at the house. That's a zillion times cheaper than meals at the parks or the resorts. Sure, you can get the dining plans (we've done that too), but it's not as inexpensive as getting your own meals at fast food places or stocking up in a kitchen. Now parking is a big variable too. As we go so frequently, we've often had annual passes. Annual passes = free parking. That helps too, obviously. So it's not really fair to say it's ALWAYS cheaper to stay on site or off. You can do it "cheaply" either way, you just have to think a bit about what it is you want out of your visit to WDW.
  21. Exactly. I am actually pretty bummed about it, because we used to stock pile FPs early in the day, then leisurely go through the park and shop or go back to the hotel and swim. Or eat at a park's table service restaurant. At night, we could again leisurely go to the rides we had passes for, which made for an enjoyable day. I never once saw the FP lines take more than 5-10 minutes, so I guess I am kinda not seeing the point of this, especially if most guests didn't "abuse" the system like we did as Disney claims. Ah well, whatever. I'm sure that what they have planned with X-Pass will change all this anyway.
  22. Something like this would be awesome in the KI History area I mentioned in another thread.
  23. Should add this was way back in 1985!
  24. Took my best friend to his first concert ever, and it was at Timberwolf: "Weird Al" Yankovic! Would love love LOVE to see him play there again. Dude is still out touring, and his shows are fantastically fun. Perfect for KI!
