  1. Ok, when I was a kid 1000s of years ago, I remember both elevators running on the Eiffel Tower. When did this stop?
  2. I must be getting old, I can't remember when the days when the girls didn't wear pants at KI.
  3. I'd like to see that, too. When we went to Disneyland Paris, we thought it was nice...but we couldn't miss all the things that were just, well, cheaper. For instance, Rock & Roller Coaster there is not even in the same universe as the one in Florida. It honestly feels (and I hope no one takes offense) more like FoF at KI than a Disney attraction. Out of the three Dis parks we've been to (also to DL/CA in Anaheim), it was by far our least favorite.
  4. Just talked to my wife, who is way more knowledgable about WDW than me. Her notes: - Get as many two-credit restaurants as you want. You get so much food under this plan that you probably won't want three table services each day! So don't waste them. - Her restaurant suggestions: - California Grill (as others noted, just keep checking back, they open up) - Bistro d Paris (Epcot, France area) - Raglan Road (Downtown Disney) - Wolfgang Puck (Downtown Disney) - Yachtsman Steakhouse (Beach Club) Her snacking suggestions: - Writer's Stop (Studios; very quiet, almost hidden) - Starring Rolls (Studios, completely overindulgent cupcakes) - Aloha Isle (MK, gotta get the Dole Whip!) - Patisserie (Epcot, France) Again, let us know of any questions. We can talk Disney all day.
  5. So many awesome places to eat there, but these would be my top picks: - Le Cellier (Epcot, Canada - get the cheddar cheese soup!) - Cape May Cafe (Buffet at Beach Club resort - you can get there from Epcot's rear entrance - awesome all you can eat crab legs and more) - Sci Fi Diner (Disney Studios, more for theme than food) - Brown Derby (Disney Studios, more for food than theme) - Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom, character dining - we love going there for breakfast. You get into the park before it opens, very weird to walk Main Street with basically no one there at all) - Ohana (Polynesian resort, a monorail ride from MK - very good all you can eat food with a polynesian theme. Like it a lot!) Places to avoid: - Tony's (Magic Kingdom) - Yak & Yeti (Animal Kingdom) Big question: where are you staying? I left off a lot of resort restaurants, but there are a LOT of good ones. Feel free to ask more questions, my family goes to WDW all the time (we're actually annual passholders...in Indianapolis of all places!).
  6. Am I the only one that would be totally down with seeing a band randomly jumping into the fountain?
  7. Question on the refills - can you get refills at the Freestyle machines?
  8. I may be alone, but I loved the Paramount days because of the theming.
  9. To be fair, when I was there a couple weeks back, the KI employees were all calling it Fast Pass.
  10. Well, um, yeah....image to your left, you know?
  11. Have heard that the Sunday of a three day weekend is always the worst...is Memorial Day itself usually completely jammed? I'm thinking it probably would be but thought I'd ask...
  12. You should always pose, and then take the little card home with you. The images show up on a website, and you can download a proof of it for free. Sure, they are watermarked, and the size is miniature...but I like to collect them every time I go, just so I can have a small, free reminder of the fun I had that day.
  13. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I LOVE the change to The Racer! Basically, instead of choosing before entering the que if you are going red or blue, you go to the station and choose a side. The giant wall separating the sides is gone, and while that may sound incredibly minor, it's not, especially if you are going with a group of three or more. What we did is simple, but so fun - my son and my buddy's son went to the blue racer. My and my buddy went to the red. We lined up so we were in the exact same position, but on different trains. As we went up the hill we were yelling at each other about how we were going to 'win'. The kids were laughing their heads off, and it added so, so much to the ride. THANK YOU, Kings Island! A very minor modification that made a great ride a lot better!
  14. My son, who is six, is a huge thrill seeker. He's been riding coasters and thrill rides since he was like 3, riding all the coasters at WDW and Disney Paris. Also rode the Matterhorn at DL in Anaheim when he was either two or three! He LOVES The Racer at KI, and yesterday he finally got to do his first rides on Vortex and Beast. He liked The Vortex, though he said his head was bouncing around a bit on the restraint. But he LOVED The Beast. It was very funny because when we pulled into the station, he looked at me and said, "We need to ride that again! RIGHT NOW!!" Can't wait for him to go on his first Beast night ride...that's his daddy's favorite ride in the world.
  15. A few things along this line... 1) Had a burrito at Hank's, and it was REALLY good. Line was minimal, people there were VERY friendly, and it was pretty cheap for what you got. Make sure you ask them to put queso in the burrito, it's quite tasty! If you like Qdoba or Chipotle at all, you will feel right at home. The Coke freestyle machine is a huge plus. 2) Terp, you are right. Those international drinks at the Coca-Cola dealy at Epcot are atrocious. 3) Had a pretzel at the blue ice cream stand in Planet Snoopy because they looked really, REALLY good. Sadly, it was hard as a rock! Won't be getting those again. 4) Does anyone know where the wacky ice cream bars are? The ones that supposedly you can put toppings on? 5) Mad, MAD props for the $5 unlimited refills on drinks. As a family that shares a beverage, that is a HUGE savings, and very very welcomed. Great first day at KI this year, can't wait to go back very soon!
  16. Was able to go in yesterday, and it was great. First thing we did, in fact. Loved all the shirts, and the arcade games were cool...even if neither of them were from the 80's.
  17. I went last year for Father's Day, and it wasn't bad at all. ~shrug~
  18. I keep seeing "new direction of management"...could someone give me an idea of what all this is in reference to?
  19. Just a note - I've had Disney annual passes before, and they are definitely paper. Always thought the KI ones were WAY nicer.
  20. I solved it by disassembling it, then putting it back together. Does that count?
  21. May just be me, but I am all for sponsorship. More revenue to the park gives them a lot more ability to tweak things for a better experience, be that new rides, better maintenance, more theming...ok, well, that last one may just be me dreaming.
  22. It's a bit uncomfy on me (6'5"), but it's a fun little ride. REALLY miss the water from the old Paramount days.
  23. Have they instituted a Fast Pass system there yet?
  24. Amazing! I have the exact same one, thought I was the only one who still had one. Looks great framed, I've been meaning to do that to mine forever. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it framed? I have a Magic Kingdom one from the same year, and like you noted, they are NOT standard sizes today...
