About 3 years ago I was talking to another woman at the gate. This little boy maybe 3 years old was leaving the park on his own, crying. He was taken into guest relations where mom had shown up to pick him up. Seems dad got tired of waiting for mom to show up and just let the kid wander off. (custody dispute). Mom was not at all grateful, she showed her backside, yelled at some people, grabbed her son, and left. Another time another little boy about the same age came through escorted by a couple who found him wandering alone. He wasn't upset, but it would have been very easy for those adults to kidnap the kid and no one would have known. Glad to see there are still good folks out there who do the right thing.

Windseeker still down at CP?

For real? This year has had its share of issues -
I dont' find racers' bending that upsetting-I saw rattler's bends and that seems excessive to me. As far as Beast-I completely trust that structure. It just feels "right". Son never did.

I would be worried about the blood pressure busting something in my brain. Scary thought.

My condolences as well. KIfan, this has been going on since before I was born, but I think it is just now coming to light. A kid in my 7th grade class was bullied daily-and finally one day he went to the town library and put a bullet in his brain right in front of everyone. My class has a memorial for him every time they have a reunion; however, I view them as a bunch of hypocrites. Some of those very souls were the ones that made his life a living hell, and now that he's gone they're going to be sorry? Too late now. I went to the same school and had the same issues, as well as the same bullies. I am not looking for sympathy or anything, but my experiences up to freshman year turned me into the recluse I am today. That same year, I had a teacher lock me in a closet for not understanding a music piece. Randy didn't deserve what he got, but he had no one to help him-and I have no sympathy for those who are sorry now. I am glad its getting out there now. Maybe we can prevent a few suicides and Columbines.

The entrance is dated, but leave it be. Newer does not always mean better.

Where exactly did you see flat "hate" in this thread? As for the concrete work - it is possible that a footing may have a problem, but likely not due to a concrete problem, but a problem with the soil underneath. Recall on WindSeeker, they buried piles (which are a foundation element that transfers load down to bedrock usually). I'd doubt that piles were used under every footing (I don't know, I'm guessing some might, but all don't), which means the footings sit on compacted soil which was expected to be suitable for the loads. If something happened and that soil settled or was undercut by something like water, a repair might be necessary - they could be repouring a footing or the equivalent of slab-jacking a footing by pumping concrete into a void. Maybe the massive amount of rain we've had the past two years had something to do with it...that makes sense to me

Probably a precaution. Halloween attracts trouble-add alcohol, and you have a hot mess. I am curious on how Haunt will be this year without them. I won't be there, so I will just keep my ears open.

They started dialing back on use of the detectors starting in '09 and only reverting back to them on more crowded days/Haunt nights. Anyone know if the security guards and staff that would normally be posted by the detectors were still there? They were really nice/cool and I'll miss them if they're gone. A few of them work in perimeter which is entrance points to the park, most I know have moved on. Terp-from my observations I believe the past two years were a test.

Not a popular opinion, but I would like to see a controlled demolition, and I think it would be awesome to push the button. That thing was wrong from day one and it needs to go. Beast on the other hand-that thing is running the best I have seen since opening year. Wow.

I could too, but I'm gonna behave

I am wondering if they had cameras back then, and number two boys urinating in inappropriate places in the park happens more often than you could imagine.

My daughter just missed being hit with a basketball on Beast a few years ago on the second drop. That is why those darn basketballs need to be out of the park. Funniest occurence on a ride? Approx. 1985 we had just reached the top of KCKC-and some 12 year old (guess) was standing up and taking a leak from the boat. Far as I know, nothing was done.

Right. It was cool, but walking afterward was pretty funny

I don't know how they could move around-I never wanted to.

Have eaten 2 pretzels and 1 panda dinner so far this season. And that is more than I have eaten in the past 4 years.

I wasn't going to either, but I am very pleased with the way things are so far. -

I like this openness. This is not national security, its a coaster. Sitting idle as long as it has, anyone can come to the conclusion that hunk of wood is history. With the metal detectors gone and the friendliness of the staff this year, KI has made a complete turnaround. One thing I noticed that I have never witnessed before. I was waiting for troika, and these two girls kept grabbing the leaves as they went by the tree. The operator warned them three times stating this was their third and final warning. Now I don't know what would have happened after the third warning, but I have seen one warning at best in years past. -

I disagree. The purpose of discussion is to exchange differing viewpoints without making it personal-something everyone needs to work on. -

I haven't seen him, but someone who is approachable was sorely needed. I am hopeful with the changes taking place. I went by the diner and the burgers actually smelled good. Some of the prices have gone down as well. -

That's a nice story. The attitudes in general are great this year, and I like it. I never understood all the secrecy for everything. Anyway I think the writing has been on the wall for quite a while. -
I have been as well, and I can tell you Beast rode as well as the early years. There isn't an air of tension in the park this year compared to past years and I will definitely be making more trips. I would like to mention I renewed my pass online, still using the one from last year, and went without a hitch. Thank you Mr. Ouimet for beginning the process of bringing my old park back. I plan to go again today once I am fully awake lol. As a side note, I plan to eat at the park today as well. Now I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but I would like to see more flats-you know, something for the elders to enjoy. I wish this change had been a few years back so my father could see it. Sadly, he is no longer able to walk far distances.

One is the star wars, and the other is galaga/pac man in one. Its awesome

I only did DB twice, troika and Beast-and let me say, this is the first time in several years I have not had my neck snap going into the helix. All the track work done in the offseason was awesome. Well done guys. I had Panda and it was good as always-and from what I hear the food quality is much improved elsewhere. Several repairs have been made, noticeably new fencing around preferred, and several simple, but needed, repairs like that. I had to work most of the day, so didn't see everything, but what I did see was great. Overall, I am very pleased with what I have seen this year.
