  1. Any get together is fine-doesn't have to be at the park. I am extremely busy myself and just not able to come on here much anymore. Also getting my health in order, but will be quite a while-harder to lose weight at 46 than it was in my 20's.
  2. Taking KCKC out was an absolute crime-same as the antique cars. I'm with you-I would rather be standing in '74 as well.
  3. Thanks for the memories-these are beautiful. Sadly, I do not have any pics of the park and it is great to see it once again.
  4. Somebody must have had an axe to grind that wrote some of that stuff. It is not anywhere that bad. We have stayed there about 5-6 nights a year every year since the campground closed. I have seen a continual decline...but nothing nearly as drastic as that. The "little" thing I notice are mostly how they repair things...kind of sloppy...like over caulking around the tub or toilet. The only problems that we have had that pop into mind over the last few years: TV wouldn't work...they brought us a working one. Refridgerator wasn't that cold...they brought us a working one. No towels...they sent them right over after we called. As for dirty, I wouldn't stay somewhere I thought was dirty. The ONLY "really? moment" was on our last visit...the carpet had a stain where it appears a kid spilled their juice. I was surprised they didn't clean it before they let anyone check in. As for the employees...no problem there. I have never had a rude employee....PLUS the bus drivers bend over backwards to get you there and back tothe park when you want. The oddest time was when I rode the bus over...but walked back to the hotel mid evening. It wasn't really busy that day...so I guess the driver was keeping track of how many people he was taking over & back. Near the end of the evening my family was riding back on the bus....my sister asked the driver how late he had to work...he said "Well, you are almost my last people to bring back...I just have one more guy over there, then i'm done". My sister described me and he said "Yep, thats the guy i'm missing". I think THAT'S customer service! I easily recommend the hotel as long as someone is not expecting a luxury hotel...and speaking of that, I once stayed in a hotel in Chicago that was about $200.00 a night...and something kept scratching me while I was in bed...I reached down to find a big old clipped toenail....i'm guessing they hadn't changed the linen. (So higher prices do not always mean better quality.) Oh, gross. I think I'd rather sleep in my escape than deal with that.
  5. 80 square feet of black top is usually 1000$, and it is not in deplorible condition so i dont think it is necessary. Try riding a bike on it. There are areas that swallow them whole without warning.
  6. Better food and repaving the parking lot.
  7. There is a way to politely educate someone without making them feel like an idiot or pointing it out to them on a forum. That's what I have issue with-and that is why I rarely post. Before responding to someone on here who may not know the facts, think about how you would take it if someone said it to you. It's simple courtesy. Some responses on here are abrasive, and there's no excuse for it. I would love to learn from someone in that position, but there is no way in hell I would ask them about it.
  8. Ugh-I was surprised I had to print my application at home-and everyone can attest that thing is a small book.
  9. Implode it-and I am more than happy to push the button. End of a massive failure. Better yet, take the trains that have been sitting in the elements since the closure, put them on for one last hoorah and see what happens.
  10. Interesting-when were these taken?
  11. I'm planning on it at the moment, of course the weather will be a major factor.
  12. Very sorry for your loss. I know going through the things left behind is heart wrenching, as I just did it with my grandmother's things. Thank you so much for sharing them on here. More beautiful memories for me personally.
  13. Pure selfishness on the parents part. Too bad they can't deny entry to people like that.
  14. The good ole days before seat dividers, headrests and seat belts. Now we're so stapled in on everything its no longer enjoyable, and sometimes painful.
  15. I like the props and fog on Beast. Nice touch.
  16. Yes, I thought it was just me since I am always having compy issues. Its all types of fouled up.
  17. Is this your first job? Unfortunately being a guest and working it are two different things. Don't throw in the towel just yet. Working it is very tough, I will agree with you there. Give it a chance and don't let the public get you down. There are putzes everywhere-focus on the others. There are guests out there who don't act the way they should, and just like in any other job, you're gonna have that. Stick it out-you know what to expect now.
  18. For decency sake, I can't say what I think of this woman for doing that, especially a pommie. I stand behind Six Flags on this one. I would have broken in the car and not thought twice about it. It's a life. May I also add, some folks who qualify for companion animals, should not have one period. This is a great example.
  19. Get on AE and take a good look at the catwalk when you're climbing the hill. You can see where it is collapsing and it appears the track is starting to do the same. I think that says more than Cedar Fair's silence on the issue.
  20. That first drop is abrupt-and I cannot ride python any longer. Seat belts exacerbate this issue on all coasters because it doesn't allow for natural shock absorbing in my opinion. I do not hold my hands up on any coaster except Diamondback due to this issue. I won't be riding some coasters much longer-but if they could find a way to smooth out the first drop it would be ok. Til then, count me out permanently.
  21. The best i did was in the 900's
  22. Let me also add, it depends on the situation. If someone is violent, or there's a weapon, then yeah, that type of response is warranted.
  23. What if the person was deaf? Would they deserve to be treated in this manner? Both parties are at fault here. First off, this is what fast pass, ert and all that other crap encourages. Another issue is the lack of communication in the chain. One guard makes it a game, the next acts like robo cop and makes a mountain out of a molehill. Breaking the rule or not, the guard should not have reacted in that manner-there are some that simply can't handle the responsibility and authority bested on them, and this sounds like that type of incident. I would have to admit if a guard yelled at me to stop in certain areas of the park, I wouldn't hear either with the amount of noise and the volume of the music. I have had the public call me every vile word you can think of, had one guest that threw his cigarette at my chest when i told him to put it out, another took his belt off and flung it around to where it almost grazed my cheek. I have also had one stare me down and extinguish his cigarette in his hand and dare me to say anything. Another was in a bad mood and just basically ran into me because he was determined to walk out the wrong way and booger up the line. Another father came up, got in my face and told me what I was going to do, and when, to find his daughter. After an hour of him venting, the situation calmed down. Guess what? Not once did I react and make a big issue of it. If you can't stay calm in that situation, you're in the wrong job. There's a time and a place for that-and usually a 10 minute swear fit in the admin area suffices for me. I think sometimes my age helps....
  24. Gordon, don't mean to hijack this thread, but when I clicked on your response, I got a malware message. I clicked on other ones and all good. I am now running firefox to respond to your comment. I am extremely sad about this. I don't think I ever got to ride it, and now I never will. Edit: As a side note, I also clicked on your links and it was blank. Went to QCD and all was well.
  25. I was thinking about this whole situation last night and I think I am going to wear the glasses I use when shooting. I normally have sunglasses on even at night, but really that's not enough.
