On Sundays it's $5 for gold and platinum pass holders. Went on it today with dare-to-fly, that's my third time on it this year. I pulled the rip cord. That still scares the bejesus out of me and I love it. What was really cool was giga and Tom76257 rode together too and they had us fly together. My husband shot a video of all four of us.

I should have known. I really should have known.

The only shirt I've had problems with is my original Son of Beast shirt. The silk screened design started cracking almost immediately. I haven't worn it in over 5 years and it looks like I've worn it every day for 5 years! I'm not going to wear it much to prevent it from falling apart further, as it's the original logo with the loop. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have a Beast shirt that I bought in 96 or 97 and I've worn a whole lot. Still looks brand new, except for the trace of blue paint on the back of one sleeve from art class in junior high. -
Shirts. I have a large collection of coaster shirts that has grown exponentially with my travels this year. Second would be postcards. I like sending them to friends. And my husband collects patches so I buy a lot of those too. I used to collect keychains but my collection got ridiculously huge so I stopped buying them.

Cedar Point Hotels
violakat03 replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
All of the indoor waterpark hotels are going to be very pricey. I usually camp out at the Bayshore Estates campground, but I've also stayed at the Travelodge. It's a couple miles away, but closer than Kalahari. The price was very good and the room was really nice. The breakfast left something to be desired, but I didn't have much room to complain with how cheap the room was. -
ki crowds make perfect people watching atmosphere

Yes, they stopped the wristbands. You can only get them if you are part of a group and the group buys them. If you saw someone with one, chances are they were a member of a group. -

Actually, the exact quote would be "there's a TRIM BRAKE on a KIDDIE COASTER! You've got to be kidding me!!" Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device in line for a trim free and very very old wood coaster. -
One thing you are taught in any sort of public interaction position is that you check the outside world at the door. What goes on at home, school, etc, does not matter. If you're in a bad mood or angry, check it at the door. When you are working, you treat everyone with respect and courtesy, no matter if they're your friend, enemy or a complete stranger. It is never acceptable for someone to carry over a grudge into their job. Check the grudge at the door and treat the person just like you'd treat any other guest. Now, was the guy joking around? It's not for us to say, we weren't there. It could go either way. But one thing I've learned in my many years in sales is that perception is everything. Everything you say can be perceived differentli and you have to be very aware that that perception is the one you want it to be. If something can be taken wrong, you don't say it. His perception was that it was meant as an insult, so he went through the proper channels to make sure his perception was known. Maybe in the future this ride op, and others reading this thread, will think about how their words can be perceived. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

Yesterday on Jokers Jinx I heard someone say "there's one at Kings Dominion just like this, it's called The Outer Limits coaster." She was only what, 10 years out of date?

The Bat was a huge money pit. The Bat was also not a flop. The Bat was removed shortly after installation because it was such a money pit. There comes a time where it makes less financial sense to keep a coaster than to remove it, because it's not increasing attendance enough to justify it's cost. The question is, has Son of Beast reached that point in time? Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

When it had the loop, it was one of my favorites. I didn't find it painful with the Premier trains. However, the new trains which make it painful (to me, not saying it is to everyone) and the lack of what I considered the second best feature of the ride (first drop is the best) dropped it very far down my list. I've ridden worse wood coasters (Mean Streak...) so it's not at the bottom, but definitely not in my top 10. Maybe the bottom of my top 20, considering I've only ridden 22 wood coasters.

I voted for Diamondback but Sonny would be second. From what I've heard of the show (haven't actually watched it but my mom did and told me about it), they put people on coasters that are bigger than they're comfortable with. The person may do well on the first round, but then they move to a bigger coaster and start freaking out. Diamondback has the height and speed factor and scares a lot of people. Sonny is the same way.

I could easily spend more than a day and a half at Kings Dominion. There are a lot of re-rideable rides there, and tons of great flats, including many that have disappeared from KI in years past such as the Flying Eagles, antique cars, and TOGO stand-up coaster. I only got a couple rides in on my July 3rd trip because I was with a large group from KDFanSite and we watched a couple of the shows, plus the park was insane packed. I did get a few coasters, but didn't get my two favorites in the park, Volcano and Grizzly, so we're thinking about going again before we come home from Virginia.

There seems to be many reasons a group would be escorted up the exit. They may have been a VIP group. They may have had front of the line passes because they were on it when it broke down. They may have been a member of some other group that was given front of line access, such a A Kid Again or Make a Wish. I saw a group at KD yesterday that got front of line access, because it was a family that performed a motorcycle stunt show in the park. They're only there this weekend and in between performances they were escorted to rides so they could enjoy the park also. As for getting to skip lines for a disability- it may look that way but they also waited. If the ride is a short or walk on wait, they'll usually just out them right on, but if it's a long wait, they have a paper with the rides listed on it. They go up the exit, get the paper initialed along with a time. That time is approximately the same time as it would take to wait in line. They cannot "wait" in 2 lines at the same time, nor can they get immediate access to another ride while waiting, because they always have to show that paper. They then come back at the listed time and get on the ride, so they aren't just hanging around the exit for an hour. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

I'm not sure how many I have just this year, but I've got a total of 95. If I can grab the last couple credits in Virginia, I'll have 98. I didn't get Ghoster Coaster or left side Rebel Yell at KD or the Great Chase at SFA yet. Posted from my BlackBerry somewhere in southeast West Virginia.

I'd honestly rank it below the other four B&M inverts I've ridden. But it was still good. Far above any Vekoma SLC.

Alright, I finally got a chance to clean off my memory card and upload my photos from a real computer! Look! Prowler!! Prowler's station. Prowler-y goodness. That last hill where it twists to the left, was really, really cool. Zulu Just some theming pictures. For a Cedar Fair park, the theming was actually pretty amazing. Not quite Busch Gardens, but getting there! Oh look, the Vekoma's broken. Mamba time! Sign in Timber Wolf's station. Holy cow, HUGE NACHOS! My husband was hungry. Even with both of us eating on them, this is how much we couldn't finish of the nachos. Bamboo forest in the Orient section. Spinning Dragons. Great positioning of their SkyCoaster. Except it was like 30 bucks to ride. If it'd been like .. $5 or $10, I'd have ridden it and might have even gotten my husband on. Now entering the America section. Time for a B&M invert! The sun shades in the line were kinda neat looking. B&Ms are very photogenic. Cool trains, too.

I loved Jokers Jinx also, as Flight of Fear is one of my favorite coasters and it was nice to ride a spaghetti bowl coaster with no mid-course again. However, I still like Flight of Fear better because I actually do like riding it in the dark. Plus I remember FOF without the mid-course.

My husband and I were in Indianapolis for the weekend and knew we'd be there till Monday, so we decided to head down to Holiday World. This was his first visit there, and like myself and Angie, he completely fell in love with the park. Though he claims he's not so much enamored of the park as he wishes they'd buy out Cedar Fair and Six Flags and run all their parks in the same way. We wandered around looking at several things in the park for awhile, stopped to lather up on sunscreen, and finally went to our first ride of the day - The Legend. Being a hot, sunny Sunday, the park was pretty crowded and I experienced my first wait for a coaster at Holiday World ever. It took about 30 minutes to get through the 2 switchbacks that were open, up the stairs, and into the station. Once there, we decided we'd wait the extra 3 trains for front seat. I asked about the bell and the ride op said that the cord had broken to it but they hoped it'd be fixed soon and assured me the howl was turned on. My husband and I enjoyed the ride. He really liked the theming and the headchoppers. After that, he was ready for the big boy of the park, The Voyage. I snapped some pictures as we walked to Thanksgiving. Amazingly, even though The Raven and The Legend had semi-long lines, The Voyage ... was walk-on! Two trains later, my husband and I were in the front seat. I asked him as we pulled back in the station what he thought of it. He said "what's that one wood coaster at Kings Island? That really long one? I can't seem to remember it now." Voyage, you have another fan! By this time we were so unbearably hot, that we took a break at Gobbler Getaway. As is normal, he wiped the floor with my score (900 something to 300 something), and then we decided on a food break. On to the Alamo, what has become my favorite place to eat at Holiday World. Then after letting our food settle a bit, reapplying sunscreen, and refilling our Gatorade, we headed for Liberty Launch. A short two-cycle wait later, we were on board. I'm still not sure whether I like the air time on it or not. It's a little violent! Then it was back to the Voyage for another mind-blowing ride. We debated hitting Pilgrim's Plunge, but the line was humongous, so we skipped it, though I grabbed a great shot of one of the boats in the splashdown. My husband wasn't feeling well at this point, I think he got overheated and hadn't slept well the night before. He wanted to head out to the truck to take a short nap, but wanted to make sure he got Raven first. So we hit up the then walk-on Legend (the park cleared out around 3 pm strangely) and then the Raven. He has the same opinion of Raven as I did - great coaster but too short! At this point, he headed back to the truck to recover a bit, and I took the opportunity to shoot a lot of pictures, video clips for a future video I'm planning, my favorite spinning ride Turkey Whirl, and two more rides on Voyage, which had developed a nearly 30 minute wait as evening approached. My husband met me at the exit of Voyage after my second ride, and we headed for the Plymouth Rock Cafe for dinner. The food was wonderful, as I expected. Then we finished out our day of rides with two last rides in the front seat of Voyage. We headed out of Thanksgiving just shy of closing time because we both desparately wanted a funnel cake, so we split a $2.49 funnel cake and then did some shopping. Finally it was time to leave one of my favorite places in the world, where we loaded up in the truck and headed out toward Louisville, as we discovered we'd wandered out of the Indianapolis dispatch area. This move turned out to be a great one, as it led to my trip to Worlds of Fun two days later. The pictures I took during my husband's break, of the Voyage and some of the theming around the park.

I recorded them on my phone when I was there. Once I figure out how to upload and post them, I will.

I went on a completely dead day (even Volcano was walk-on) in May, and I rode Hurler 3 times in a row in the front seat without getting off. It's got some pretty intense lateral g's but was also a lot of fun.

What'd you think of Roar and Mind Eraser? I enjoyed Roar and will never ride Mind Eraser under my own free will again.

Am I the only one who loved Hurler?!!!
