  1. It's worth it if you can make it worth it. I've been to Cedar Point 6 times, Kings Dominion 3 times, and once each to Michigan's Adventure and Worlds of Fun. It's been very much worth it to my husband and I to have the freedom to go "let's go to Cedar Point" and know we don't have to worry about admission and parking. The ERTs are a nice bonus too!
  2. It's got a helix. IIRC, it's missing one out-and-back with a couple airtime bunny hills. It's also missing a trick track section. I don't recall if SkyRider has a trick track though.
  3. I think there's some confusion between how everyone views the word "thrill." There's thrill, there's scare, and there's unnerve. Only two rides unnerve me a bit, and that's Demon Drop at CP (because I haven't figured out when it drops and the way it works is just unusual compared to other drop rides I've ridden) and Xtreme Skyflyer. Skyflyer slides over into that "scare" category a little because I cannot help but scream in terror at that first drop when the ripcord is pulled and I'm always just a little afraid that something will go horribly wrong. I consider a "scare" to be something that actually scares you. You are afraid you will not be ok when all is said and done. My mom is scared of falling, she will not ride anything with any sort of hill. However, she's unnerved by Adventure Express, even though it has no big drops. I consider "thrilled" to be having fun. A rush that puts a smile on your face. Almost all coasters do this to me. Unless they are particularly violent or just a snoozer (like Iron Dragon), most coasters are thrilling to me. Some more than others, as some give me a bigger rush. Launched coasters still give me a huge rush, as does Millennium Force. Diamondback is not as much of a rush, but it is still a thrill to me. I still am grinning from ear to ear throughout the entire ride. Voyage is the same, as are Raptor, Legend and Beast. Flight of Fear still gives me a rush, but as much as it used to, so I'll slide it down into this category. I guess the original meaning of the world "thrill" in this thread would be a major rush. So for me, that'd be Xtreme Skyflyer, Dragster, and Millennium Force.
  4. Yeah, KI's monster really doesn't like to spin. You've got to do it just right. Uncle Henry's really really good at it, but I'm awful at it. Now, Chaos at CP? I can flip that thing like crazy.
  5. Go during ERT or when it's raining. It's almost always a walk-on in both cases. 7 rides in 30 minutes during ERT yesterday, and 16 rides in 1.5 hours two weeks ago when it was raining.
  6. I noticed that the kiosk for the on-ride photos on Fairly Odd Coaster/Beastie has this on it...
  7. It's not hurting me. It's not hurting you. If people want to think he's cool, more power to him. If people want to think he's uncool, more power to them. Starting petty arguments and posting a disagreement to everything he says is just annoying. Feel free to think him uncool and a liar, but please, do so quietly.
  8. Shockwave is the oddball of the three. King Cobra and SkyRider are very very similar, but Shockwave is just a bit different.
  9. If the line is shorter than the stairs, they just leave the station open, or at most just pulse the line. Usually on rainy days it's very short and you can get a bunch of laps in.
  10. El Toro is like SUPER EXTREME ejector. I couldn't believe how intense it was on those first two drops. I have not found anything as intense as El Toro's first two drops yet. But I haven't ridden Superman/Bizarro yet.
  11. My friend's 4 year old daughter is tall enough. She's 49"! She'll probably be tall enough for Diamondback when she's 6.
  12. Sounds like it did clear out a little bit later in the day. I left at 3 because everything had such a long wait. Red Racer wasn't even running and blue had a line out into the midway. Everything else was full queues. I spent most of the day shooting video after ERT.
  13. Not to mention there is no seat 1-3... but anyways. Diamondback and Millennium Force are not comparable. Millennium Force is all about speed and G-forces. If you don't like speed and G-forces, don't ride it. If you want airtime, go ride Magnum.
  14. At KI? None of them. It takes a LOT to make me dizzy. Even Chaos or the spider at Holiday World can't do it. The only one I've managed it on lately was the tea cups at Six Flags America. My brother and I had our cup spinning so fast it was vibrating, and we kept that pace through the entire cycle. I'll admit I took a few sideways steps at the end of that! But it was all with a big grin on my face. Of course, as people who've gone to the park with me know, the faster it spins, the better I like it! ^ Myself with Gordon Bombay, Captain Nemo and Cory Butcher on Tornado at Krazy City, spinning it for all we were worth! (OK, so I wasn't doing much of the spinning... 3 sets of hands were more than enough! ) We were the only four people out of our group crazy enough to do that. And yes, I shot a POV of it.
  15. They have a hard enough time opening Dragster on time at 10:00 .. I can imagine that it'd be many times worse trying to open it an hour earlier.
  16. A very cool follow up on my trip. I put in a good GR for two of the girls in one of the merchandise locations that really went out of their way for my husband and I. Yesterday, I got a letter from Michigan's Adventure. I opened it up to find a very kind thank you letter, assuring me that the good word had been passed on to their supervisor and thanking me for pointing out that they were doing a good job. It was hand-signed by the VP of Park Operations. I've put in a LOT of good GRs at Cedar Fair parks, and this is the first time I've ever gotten a response from one. That was really cool and I'm glad they took it so very seriously!
  17. No, no. You mistake me. I am annoyed when people add unnecessary articles, however am not annoyed when articles are left off. You will often hear me say things as "Let's head to Beast." However, you will never hear me say "Let's head to the Son of The Beast."
  18. It is company policy to give you free water, though not state law. If they turned you down for free water, they have 2 valid excuses: 1. They were out of water cups or 2. They don't have a fountain drink machine that dispenses water at that location. If either of these were not true, file a complaint with guest relations. On a side note, Cedar Point is no longer handing out decent sized water cups. They now give you something about the size of a shot of alcohol. Not enough to quench my thirst. I ask up front for two or three now. The first time I was handed one of these, I said "well, since it's so small, I guess I'll have two." The girl looked at me, got water for the rest of my group, then moved on to the next customer. I told her "Hey. I wasn't kidding. I'd like another." She gave me a VERY dirty look and got me another.
  19. Would have been nice to create the poll in a way that you could vote for multiple. Because it was hard for me to pick just one. If I could pick multiples it'd be: Gravity Group (what I voted): Two words - The Voyage. I can follow that up with Ravine Flyer II. Boardwalk Bullet just adds to it. One day I will ride every coaster built by these geniuses. B&M: I haven't met a B&M hyper that I didn't like, and their flyers are nothing short of amazing. However, they are usually trimmed to excess. I'd prefer a manufacturer to be able to design a great ride without requiring any trims on it. Intamin, GG and CCI have been pretty good at this. Intamin: Great innovation and usually great rides. Several of my top coasters are Intamins, such as Millie, Dragster, El Toro and Volcano. However, while they are great at innovation, they are horrible at building rides that don't break all the time. Arrow: An underated classic. I love Big Bad Wolf, Flight Deck, Loch Ness Monster, Magnum and Gemini. Yes, they tend to be rough, but for the advances they made, that can be forgiven, especially when we're used to comparing manufacturers like Intamin and B&M who've had years to improve on Arrow's original ideas. I think if Arrow still existed, we'd be seeing advances such as new restraints (like Vekoma did with Carolina Cobra) and better loopers, and they'd be hot competition for B&M. CCI: Legend and Raven are two of my favorite coasters. I've heard wonderful things about, and greatly want to ride, Cornball Express, Great White, and Boulder Dash. GCII: Prowler is my number 2 coaster. Roar is a great coaster, though not in my top 10. They're also the masters behind Thunderhead, Kentucky Rumbler, and Lightning Racer, all coaster I want to ride and have heard great things about. They live up to their name. They also are masters are rebuilding, reprofiling, and improving wood coasters, such as Boulder Dash, Arkansas Twister and GhostRider. One thing you will not see me voting for: Vekoma. I despise Vekomas.
  20. No. I'm not an idiot. And I'm hoping that others on this site are not either. Cameras are a loose article. Just because you think you can hold on to it does not mean you will, especially on a turbulent roller coaster, and as soon as that camera slips from your fingers, it becomes a missile that can severely injure those around you who are trying to enjoy their day. I ALWAYS alert ride operators if I see someone POVing as I do not want to become the victim of a flying object. I was tucking my camera more securely into my pocket on a ride and the ride op made a comment about photography not being allowed. I looked at him square in the eye and told him I was not an idiot and my camera would be secured throughout the entire ride. However, I did film POVs on some of the rides at Krazy City. I was given permission to and did everything I could to make sure my camera wouldn't fall, such as tightening the strap around my wrist and holding the camera with both hands. If it was something that I had a high chance of losing it on, such as a large coaster, I wouldn't have done it. Bumper cars and a spring ride are a different story. But if the ride operators had said no, I wouldn't have done it. It's that simple.
  21. Shivering Timbers did not make my top ten wood coasters. Beast, Racer and Blue Streak all did. It wasn't a bad coaster, it just wasn't as good as I was hoping it'd be. The airtime was sadly lacking, though at least the ride was quite smooth.
  22. Forgot that my husband caught someone's driver's license on Skyhawk on Thursday at CP. He saw it fall, grabbed it, and stood at the exit until he matched a face to the picture. Walked up to him and said "are you Andrew?" The guy was pretty creeped out at first.
  23. I've put most of my favorites on my deviantart page. violakat03.deviantart.com - I also have a ton of pictures in there from other parks I've been to. I've got bunches of pictures from Cedar Point. I think on my next KI trip I'm going to get a lot more photos and videos. Some of the amazing photos in this thread have definitely inspired me.
