  1. I'm going to try to renew mine at Cedar Point. It's $140 whether you're a new PP holder or a renewing one, plus as Dave pointed out they're giving out some other freebies with it. If I make it up to the Point one more time this season, I'll get my pass while I'm there. IMO, the ERT at CP makes the platinum worth it just on it's own, but the other perks at all the other parks are definitely great too. I'm hoping that Kings Dominion will start a morning ERT session with 305 like KI did this year with Diamondback.
  2. Good answer Ryan. I was going to say because no matter how hard you try, people will break the rules just because they're rules. There are only so many park employees, they can't be everywhere at once to enforce the rules, unfortunately.
  3. Thanks for those links Gator. Some new songs on there for me to put onto my iPod - though admittedly, I have the majority of the first link already on my Halloween playlist! Night on Bald Mountain is like .. the quintessential Halloween song. Everything about it is creepy. Not to mention there's a nice little viola solo in it. (Right at the end of the clip on Amazon) One of my favorite pieces I've ever played on viola.
  4. The one with Voyage also had Schlitterbahn, the drop ride at Dreamworld and another water park but I'm not sure which one. I'll admit I skipped the water parks for the most part so I could watch my Voyage. It's probably the same program. I DVR'd it last night.
  5. Seriously people, Holiday World has free sunscreen. Why is the shirtless guy sunburned?! ... anyway... Am I the only one who found this announcement rather anti-climactic?
  6. Hmm. Good point. However, the path is wide enough that a switchback or two could be incorporated using temporary queue rails. Or it could be directed toward Coney instead of the Tower.
  7. That makes sense to me, since Worksite won't be there this year. That leaves that path wide open, and if the carousel is closed, they can direct the line back past it towards the Tower.
  8. Touchdown ... can I convince you to PM me your playlist? I'm always looking for extra ideas to add on to my Halloween playlist. This is my favorite time of year, everything from the chill in the air, the smell of autumn, Haunt and other scary stuff, costumes, and especially the music!!
  9. I think the park could survive without Chang. It has other coasters and it's not right smack in the middle of the park. In fact, T2 usually has a longer line, at least it has on both times I've visited, whereas Chang has been a complete walk-on even with it's single train operation. Anyway. I'll believe it when I see it. I find it very hard to believe that Chang would go to Great America, where they already have a B&M standup that isn't all that popular.
  10. I don't know what all was played in Coney Mall specifically, but I have a huge playlist of Halloween music on my iPod. I can PM you the list of songs if you'd like. It's got everything from classical (Bach's Tocatta and Fugue, etc) to oldies (Spooky by the Classics IV and Monster Mash) to current (Dragula by Rob Zombie) and movie themes (Tubular Bells from Exorcist).
  11. That's cause they're not supposed to even have their phones on them. That's a park rule that's been in place since I worked there under Paramount - only certain departments allow it. I know in merch if you got caught with your phone on you, even if it stayed in your pocket, you automatically got written up. In rides I'd think it'd be even more important. I have never seen anyone in rides texting or even with a cell phone in hand. However, at Lakemont, the two girls running Skyliner were texting and not paying attention and a kid was standing up in the train while it was running and reaching out to hit the support posts. Someone in line pointed it out, the ride ops shrugged and said "we didn't see it." Of course you didn't see it, you were texting! I complained at the management office about it, the operations manager was NOT happy!! He also took immediate action, so I was very impressed by that.
  12. I still find it strange (and kind of embarrassing) that the only ride I've lost something on is Gemini.... Diamondback never messed with my snap pockets or anything, but Gemini opened my snap pocket and stole my BlackBerry.
  13. Last year a lot of people reported problems when renewing their pass and trying to use it the same year, because it would then scan as the next year's pass (since they use the same card - I remember a lot of people who renewed in 08 having problems because they now had an 09 pass). However, they may have worked that bug out. It's one of those things we probably won't know until a few people try to enter the park multiple times on their renewal before the end of the year because it is supposed to work at least once for the current year when you buy next year's pass.
  14. I'm pretty sure they sell them in the water park and one of the stores up by the main gate too. At least they used to. I'm not as familiar with the merch selections as I was 6 years ago.
  15. And this is why I wear SHOES to the park. An extra bonus is I don't have a problem with people stepping on my feet.
  16. It's interesting to see how well the no entry fee parks are working out. It seems that they are really good at attracting people but they only attract each family a limited number of times per summer (instead of places you can buy a season pass to). I know as an enthusiast, I like no-entry-fee parks because if I just want to ride the coaster once for the credit, I can buy the necessary number of tickets, ride it, and move on. Rather than paying the same admission as a person planning to spend the entire day, which is why we skipped Kiddieland in Chicago. We felt that $20 a person was a bit much to get a junior coaster credit. Had we been able to buy tickets for it, we'd have gone for it.
  17. The cliff > anything on any wood coaster at KI. Well, air time wise. I still love The Beast's helix.
  18. All rides are open during Haunt except in Nick U, and Scrambler (which is disassembled to form a queue line for a Haunt). It's been that way in the past, so I see no reason to expect any different this year.
  19. Heard this one today while walking by Adventure Express. Girl:"let's go ride that spinning thing." points up at Slingshot. Guy: "yeah, tickets are only 10 dollars." Umm... Since when did Slingshot spin? Also heard when exiting Racer, "we're going to go ride the Outer Limits." I resisted the urge to ask him to let me know when he found it. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.
  20. ^ I think the best part of that is that it has all those loops!
  21. No wonder I never saw you. My dates were all mixed up. Doesn't help that I haven't really been on KIC in the past week! I'll definitely be seeing you during Haunt, don't worry!
  22. Was surprised to not see either of you (rotag and Shawn). I power-lapped Diamondback for about an hour with dare-to-fly. Only had to get off once! Wandered around the park for a while too.
  23. ... Totally guilty of that one. I was in the parking lot at Great Adventure and heading to the gate when Ka's horn sounded. I'm not even kidding, I turned around and said "Diamondback?"
