  1. There are a lot of questions I have about this stupid VR stuff on coasters, but I have one that's not been discussed yet. Depending on the weather, temperature, new wheels, weight of passengers, etc... Some of these coasters actual ride times can vary by a significant amount. I know Gatekeeper has like a 10-15 second sway of ride time depending on all those factors. Same with Griffon and Alpengeist. If the VR is not matching up with where you are in the ride cycle, it's definitely going to make everyone sick. People get sick on Forbidden Journey all of the time and that ride always matches up perfectly with the visuals being shown on the screen. Put this on actual coasters with a lot of variables and I don't see this making it to the end of the season.
  2. Both of the Busch Dive Machines have trains that have "theater style seating" so that each row is elevated slightly above the row in front of it. It's supposed to help give a better view.
  3. The back half of the ride is pretty much rebuilt now, and it is still the same layout. So I would say yes.
  4. The lights for the new King Kong ride were turned on for the first time tonight. Not sure how to embed the tweet here but I'll try. Anyways, it's beautiful. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Worker adjusting test lights on a cherry picker at Skull Island - Reign of Kong <a href="https://t.co/FxqClWqKsO">pic.twitter.com/FxqClWqKsO</a></p>—bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) <a href="https://twitter.com/bioreconstruct/status/701917149279952896">February 22, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> https://twitter.com/bioreconstruct/status/701917149279952896
  5. I don't know if we have a separate thread for the new King Kong ride, but I was there last weekend, and GUYS, IT LOOKS SO COOL. It's so large, and so well themed. I cannot wait for it to open. It's crazy to me how Universal just does this in a year and a half like it's no big deal, and Disney has been talking about/working on Avatar since before even Diagon Alley opened. Universal is doing amazing things.
  6. Screens or not, Kong is going to be amazing. I plan on making a few separate trips down to Orlando this year after it opens.
  7. It's embarrassing they even have that park open. I'd be ****ed if I was a guest and spent $100 to go to a park with basically 4 rides open. If I was Disney, I'd price Hollywood Studios with the water parks until Star Wars and Toystory opened. This is embarrassing.
  8. All of the parks are completely dead this time of year, I have a friend in Universal right now who is Snapchatting literally all walkons. I would of course go with Universal, but if you can't do the more intense rides because of the surgery, I would do WDW as they don't really have any intense rides.
  9. It's easier if you know people who work there. Just bought an $88 plane ticket from Cleveland to Orlando for the first weekend of February. My girlfriend is flying in from Dallas and we rented a vacation home for the weekend. It came out to be about $40 per person for 3 nigjts. We're getting free tickets from our friends who still work at the parks. So for Friday through Monday I'm spending about $200.
  10. I got through about 40 pages before it became too dark on the plane to read. There are some interesting parts. I think it's worth a buy.
  11. Right, but a lifetime ban does what exactly? What's really stopping you from buying a ticket and going in? If you get caught you get charged with tresspassing, right? I'm sure tresspassing is the least of this dude's worries when he's filming kiddie porn.
  12. ^Do you want the parks to do background checks of every guest now?
  13. I got a signed copy as an early Christmas gift. I'm going to read it on the plane on Thursday.
  14. And I think they were being honest. The new land they are purchasing is right next door. The sight lines in a third gate would be terrible because of this monsterous tower, that won't work 70% of the time anyways (Intamin). Let's be real, the effect this tower would have on Universal's attendance is, at most, microscopic. Fun Spot is bigger competition than this is.
  15. I'm guessing it'll be the same ride system as the Despicable Me ride. I'm not a fan of the system, but nearly everything Universal has done in the last ten years has been great, so I'll obviously wait to judge. I miss Universal so much.
  16. It "doesn't surprise" you? Do I dare ask why, or is that better left unsaid? I'm not going to talk poorly about a past employer, but I'll just say I never felt safe at the dorms there. If I as a 6'3" grown male doesn't feel safe, I can only imagine what it's actually like as a teenage girl.
  17. This doesn't surprise me and I'm happy I got out of there when I did.
  18. And that's fine I get people like different things and other opinions are awesome, but I always have to ask: what did you like about EPCOT?
  19. And trained all of the ticket sales people to know who you are and tell them not to let you in? They can't handle the most simple of things, but I'm to believe they can pull this off?
