  1. there was someone at school once who said that they didnt like how cedar flags bought paramount studios and Kings Island. I couldnt help but laugh
  2. I would like to see: -An expanded X-base with a restaurant and a restroom. -Some new flat rides in Coney Mall -A little TLC in Action Zone -An overhauled and upraded Crypt -A B&M floorless coaster -AE's effects refurbished -new sit down restaurant with many choices (RJ was a good start) -New movies in both sides of AT
  3. The spinning ride at ki that makes me want to lose it would have to be monster, and i was unfortunate to learn the hard way not to sit in a car by yourself, cause if you do, you better pray you dont start spinning. once that sucker gets going it WILL NOT STOP
  4. I remember last year at KI, during the cicada outbreak, i rode flight deck only to find piles of the dead bugs on the floor of the cars. It was actually kind of funny and disturbing at the same time going up the lift, the cicadas were flying everywhere and they were very loud, but you could also hear people shouting and saying that they were sticking to them. It is also kinda painfull having a big cicada hit you in the face while riding.
  5. ^well...then they could try approach #2, just trim it up, that should dampen the swinging a bit -KIBOB, thinking of how slapping on trims seems to solve a lot of things, or do they?....
  6. Too much $$ to maintain? They could just take the KI suspended Arrow approach of "no paint, no problem, but rust is a must!"
  7. ^Thank you, finally someone else who likes it. Of course I would like a new better theme like the tornado/storm shelter or mine, and sure it would be nice to have a more thrilling ride, but not every ride in the park needs to be thrilling or intense. It is really just a fun tranquill/family dark ride
  8. I know that it may not be true, but i just figured its a possibility seeing how it shakes sometimes, and that mysrerious scratch across the middle. I have been wondering, is it made up of two or more pieces? Ah, oh well i guess, as far as i know the ride runs great, its just the asthetics that are getting a little crusty.
  9. ^^I know what you mean, Avatar doesnt look that great, i have even heard of the actuall character falling off a few times which i can honestly believe, also, the paint on top of the tracks has vitually been completely worn off, but this isnt exactly new "cough:flight deck:cough"
  10. ^Ha i like your new avatar cedarpointer, my how the tables have turned
  11. I also have noticed the deeper roar, before it seemed to just make a loud, rattling swoosh down the first drop. It is the second most distinct sound in the park, after the loud rachet that sob makes/made going up its hill. SoB sounds like a diesel engine thats about to blow!
  12. so basically it was more of a show for potential park buyers more so than than for the general public? I never went to winterfest in 05, we never got a chance to, but after seeing the ads and commercials i thought that it looked amazing. I just never knew untill later on that it wasnt very successfull. Maybe if it had been, do you think CF would have kept it?
  13. hmmm i see.....thanks for the insight i really didnt want to use the word "ironic" it was just the very word that popped into my head, maybe i should have said "failed marketing sceme"
  14. I find it kind of ironic how in the last year of full paramount ownership, PKI actually did something good and well liked to bring back an old ki tradition only to have it phased out yet again by CF in 06
  15. I am just glad FOF didnt turn into "The Crypt in space!"
  16. This sounds pretty cool, but oddly strange at the same time. First they do the transformers comic giveaway for the movie and now a GI Joe promotion? Both of which are movies made by Paramount. I cant believe nobody has pointed this out yet. Time will only tell if this is just a coincidence or if it is something much bigger
  17. After riding The Crypt last week i had a brief moment of inspiration. Like many have said, a mine based ride or a tornado based ride would be awesome and really go well with rivertown. My idea is for a mine themed ride, which could be called by a generic Cedar Fair style name of "Mine Fall" The outside of the queue could easily be turned into a mine entrance, as the cave already looks very similar to a mine. The crypt logo at the top of the cave could be replaced by a sign that says "Rivertown Mining Co.: DANGER! NO TRESSPASSING! The bamboo support thingies in the cave, if not removable, could have coverings made to resemble the large pieces of lumber used to support mines. As guests walk through the tunnel they pass mining equipment such as pickaxes, shovels, and even a few wagon wheels lying around here and there, while listening to a light, ambient, western track with bings from equipment in the background. When they enter the room before the antechamber, "were the peeling wallpaper is" the walls would have new wallpaper that resembles lines of gold cutting through the rock. Then, when they enter the antechamber, they would find boxes of smoking dynamite and explosive materials sitting where the death bat is today. Before entering the ride chamber, a recording would play saying "miners, you can now enter the elevator". The riders would then enter and be seated, just like now. Then, the lights would go out, and the gondola would rise in darkness. Suddenly, the sound of explosions and tumbling rocks fill the room, and the ride would drop and go into a cycle while random light cannons would start going off and smoke "fog" would start to accumulate on the ground. The water effects would also be working, to represent underground water but just as a regular top spin, would shoot a couple of fountains up at the riders as the ride swung around past it. Then all the lights would go off, and the ride would end as it does now. All in all, this could be relativaly within CF and KIs new ride budget, but in order to make the ride thrilling again, the park would probably need to have HUSS come in and upgrade the ride mechanism and make a new, smaller gondola that would be lighter. I am sure this can be done, as HUSS has newer giant top spin models on there web site that are able to do very thrilling things. Ok, i am FINALY done with this extremely long post its just an idea lol

    New Coaster?

And all I am saying is after this next year of coaster building, Cedar Fair may either recover from Rollercoasteritis or be forced to. Or not. Investors are starting to question this strategy, and not just at the bankrupt Six Flags. Wow, exactly what i was thinking. I was watching something about mcdonalds on tv a while back because there was nothing else on. They did an interview with the food giant's execs and started talking about how in the early 2000's the company was having financial trouble, because they were more focused on building more and more restaurants than improving the food quality or improving what they already had. Hmmmm where have i seen this before?
  19. Im not sure but i think that the trams stopped running in 2005 after CBS took over Paramount Parks
  20. I dont know if it is just me, but i dont really trust rides that have supports on wheels, or that fold up for storage.
  21. ^i know right....anyways back to the original question; just be patient. Maybe make some side money somehow and make plans with a few of your friends to go sometime, you could even do what a lot have said and save money or ask for a pass for your birthday or christmas. Passes are truley an incredible value. I saved up some money from working and bought my pass for this year.
  22. ^Same here, my parents can get pretty agitated when i start talking about ki...sometimes they even seem surprised by how much i know about the park and its history, i guess that it is the ideologists like us who keep the spirit going and the park evolving around our and the the public's input
  23. I dont think that it will leave. Structural changes...maybe, but removal......i just cant see it happening. Just imagine how much it would cost to safely dismantle Mt. Pinewood. What would they even do with all of that lumber?
  24. So are crypts but that doesnt surprise me
