  1. Holiday World sounds good to me too. I will be there next Sunday, and Kings Island on Monday.
  2. So Cedar Fair wants Geauga Lake to be a "premier" water park, what kind of expansions have they made? Slides, wave pools, attractions? Anyone know? I think it's been forgotten, I do not remember any updates on here or Screamscape, or anywhere else for that matter. I hope that I am wrong, but...... Heck, they spent a ton of money on revamping Kings Island water park. Holiday World has put in two major water attractions(I know, not Cedar Fair) But all has been pretty darn quiet in Cedar Fair's so called "premier" water park.
  3. I was on The Racer, a gentleman a few rows up from me lost his ball cap. It flew right past me and I caught it out of mid-air. After the ride was over, I went up to him and said "Did you lose something?" He was shocked.
  4. Drive a short distance to find a hotel, at least 30 mins. away. I have not been to KD for a few years, but it is a fun trip. I went the first week of June and did not have any problem with crowds, as long as it's a weekday. First off, the coasters. I liked most of them. The Hurler is a ok coaster, it is just a rough one. I love Dominator (Geauga Lake relocate) Great floorless. I really enjoyed Volcano, and Avalanche (Mack Bobsled model) Non coaster rides, try the great version of a Huss Top-Spin. Bezerker, which is a inverter ship. Grizzly is a good wooden coaster that thrills. Intimidator was in the parking lot (at the time) Trucks dropping off pieces for the two days that I was there. It should be an all around great new experience. BTW-If you are going to Virginia Beach, stop by Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, It is one of the nicest, themed park that I have ever been to. Most of all have fun and travel safe.
  5. I have an interesting question. If Cedar Point is trying to pass, SF. Magic Mountain in the coaster wars, how are they gonna win, by taking out two coasters in back to back years. I know, there is a rumor of a "family" coaster, and possible, "thrill" coaster, but that doesn't increase the current coaster count? Am I missing something, or did I just not read enough?
  6. Thank you all for the responses. I plan on having a great time. I hope it warms up a little for the water park side. I go early June (fingers crossed) Next part of my question: HW on Sunday and KI on Monday, or should I wait for HW on a Monday? From where I am traveling, it doesn't make much of a difference in travel time to each park, just the least busiest day for Holiday World and Kings Island
  7. May I add my 2 cents on older people riding coasters. My grandfather rode The Beast at 75yrs old. I told him, "Grandpa, this is a rough coaster" (I was a little worried) After riding the coaster he comment was, "I was a tank commander in WWII, now that was a rough ride" He told me the Sherman tank had a lot rougher ride, than The Beast ever would be. Sorry guys, I had to share that with you, since my Grandfather is no longer with us. That was about the funniest thing he ever told me. He shrugged off riding, what I thought was a rough ride experience.
  8. I am heading to Holiday World in a few weeks. Besides the obvious The Big 3 (coasters) Is there anything that I need to make sure and not miss? Tips on places to eat, attractions to hit, shows, ect? Any advice would be appreciated. My trip is June 3rd and June 4th. Do I do Kings Island Sunday, then Holiday World Monday or vice versa?
  9. I have seen the bees swarming around Adventure Express
  10. I would revamp sections of the park a little at a time. Since I missed visiting KI last year, I would love to see a nicer Coney Mall. Bring back some classic flat rides for this section. Rotor, Bayern Kurve, Antique Cars, Tumble bug ect. So, how is Coney Mall with the addition of WindSeeker? I enjoyed Cedar Point"s version, right next to Wicked Twister. I guess I will find out in a few weeks.
  11. I believe that Son of Beast will be no more. I would love to see the Texas Giant overhaul, but I don't see that happening or maybe Cedar Fair might of hinted on that option. With the cost of the Iron Horse steel track, KI could replace SOB with another attraction. I hope something like a Gravity Group wooden coaster. The cost of the re-tracking could be around 10m.(give or take a few million) but, the Voyage for example was 8.5million, Ravine Flyer II was approx 6million. So, I would rather a Gravity Group coaster go in, than a Son of Beast, standing, but not operating. Please don't send me messages of hate(lol) because I would rather have SOB up and running more than anything.
  12. I have been going to KI since the very opening of the park.(probably year 2 or 3) We have always grabbed a LaRosa"s Pizza. Last ride of the night is Beast front seat.
  13. Check Camden Park's website, all the new information you need about a new attraction is there. It looks like a July 4th opening for the new attraction.
  14. Sorry, by the way this show re-airs on the Travel Channel, at 1am
  15. Wow. What a interesting piece. On Millennium Force the inspection of the lift cable looked scary. There was a button that the inspector had to push, that looked to be about 1/3rd down the first drop. I was not aware of this, but it makes sure that someone had completed the task of the inspection process.
  16. One slow evening, I rode Son of Beast three times in a row. I felt like I had been through a bad car crash. With no one in the cue house, I wanted to just stay on and ride again, but a ride-op stated "You need a few minutes" (I guess with a small break of walking back thru the cue line), to be able to ride again.
  17. Son of Beast, was(is) an ok coaster. I thought it was a little rough at times. Other times I had good experiences on it. My favorite part was the loop, and the pure speed of it all. The only thing that bothered me at times was the heavy hitting rattle on "the Rose Bowl" I had one annoyance, the lift hill chain (and I am sure the anti-rollback device) was loud. You couldn't hear the person right next to you.
  18. Very interesting video to say the least. I think it looks like a lot of fun (Only with permission) I can't imagine not running into a single security guard on that long of a bike trek. I do wonder what exact time of the year that was shot? No snow on the ground in Canada, so it looks to be recent maybe? If nothing else, I now want to visit the park, as a paying customer. (lol) I think the two riders could be in big trouble, and of course the "lack of" security.
  19. Thanks for the trip advice. I am going Sunday June 3rd. I do hope crowds won't be too bad on a Sunday. Monday will be Kings Island
  20. According to the website, it looks to open around July 4th.
  21. Well, I have finally decided on a Holiday World trip, then day two to Kings Island. Interpreter, any trip suggestion for Holiday World? (besides having a blast)
  22. Sorry, Big Dipper-Camden ParkBig Dipper-Geauga Lake
  23. Cedar Point-Maverick Kings Dominion-Dominator Kennywood-Thunderbolt Busch Gardens-Alpengeist Kings Island-The Beast Trip to Holiday World (1st time) All 3 woodies.
  24. I think being 6'5" didn't help me! lol I am 6'5 too, I didn't enjoy it at all. Btw, if, you are 6'5" do you ever get turned away from Delirium? I have rode it over 30 times, every once in a while a ride Op stops me(measures me) and tells me "I cannot ride" I explained, that I had already rode it that morning with no problems. Anyone had a similar experience?
