  1. I'd like to see you pay for a commercial shoot. In reality there just isn't the money for them to shoot video; of every Cedar Fair coaster, at every Cedar Fair park. I swear you guys complain to much. Nobody says "I was gonna pay for a commercial shoot ( If I owned KI, and I don't) I would pay for a better one than this? Plus there is plenty of footage, already on file of "THE ACTUAL" rides of Kings Island. I'm sure somewhere out there. THANK YOU
  2. When did KI get a B&M Invert? No, not really. I can't just figure out why the use clips from other CF parks? I think its time to FIRE the marketing department.........
  3. So, I have heard on this forum, that some think the demolition for SOB would be around 10 million. To build a new wooden coaster in it's place would be about 10-12 million (Approx.) That is a hefty price tag to solve this problem. I know it may not take quite 10 million to demolish it, that is just someone else comment earlier. I don't see KI spending that kind of money on a project of that sort. I would love to see a "remake" or "redo" of SOB instead. Maybe use the lift hill/drop and maybe make a out and back type coaster (If the space is available) It is just my opinion, but I only had a problem on the high speed rose bowl. Around the bottom of the RB it sure did rattle my body. I have no Idea if this can even be done, considering the space they have (and $$$) to do something like this. If anyone has an aerial view of SOB, please post and I would love to see if it could be done. What do you guys think?
  4. With all the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks, I am sure they could be a little behind in the construction/testing to be done.
  5. I have been going to Kings Island for 20+ years. I don't think once that I paid full price, I have either received a discount through the Credit Union at work, or discounted from Wendy's or Kroger. To save money I seem to do what a few of you guys do to say a few dollars, I pack a lunch and also a snack (for later) and I return to my car. I might get one drink during the day, but I go to the drink stands and ask for a free water. If there is one snack I want, I might spend a little for a pretzel or corn dog, but that is just one treat. After I leave the park for the day, I drive down the road a bit and hit a Fast food joint to get twice the food for half the money. Some times that is what it takes without breaking the bank at the Island.
  6. I am going to try to hit Holiday World in June. If anyone has gone and knows what else there is to do in the surrounding area. My wife and I would like to "Discover" Santa Claus, IN. Also, any other trip tips could come in handy, hotels, food, near by shopping or not-to-miss attractions , other than HW. My name is Michael (Thunderbeast1968) THANKS GUYS
  7. Depending on where you are coming from, to attend the parks in VA, just jump on Rt. 64 east and keep going.(Rt. 64 is easily accessible from Camden Park). I believe it took 3 hrs. to hit Kings Dominion. From Huntington WV, hit 64 east and there is just one junction to turn north from 64 to KD. Mapquest it to find the exact route. If you have any questions, message me and maybe I can help. I live 30 mins. to the park. I live in southern Ohio across the river from Huntington, WV. Huntington is where I work.
  8. This is my hometown park. Nice park with a lot a classic rides. Camden Park's Big Dipper was my very first coaster.
  9. Several years ago, I was on the backwards Racer and a guy lost his ball cap. It flew right next to me and I don't know how, but I reached up and grabbed it out of mid air. I returned the hat to him after the ride was completed. I could not believe the luck, just a fluke in my book. P.S. This took place going down the first drop. I could probably never pull that off again. LOL
  10. Has anyone attended this park? Is it a pay for individual rides, or handstamps? I am thinking of going to Holiday World and then drop by Beech Bend. Any tips or hints would be appreciated.
  11. What is also bad, is grocery prices. My wife and I went shopping yesterday and we noticed price increases everywhere through the store. Produce is where I saw a lot of increase. Where I personally save money at KI, is packing lunch and dinner in a cooler and walking out to the car for a little picnic. If you go to the concession stands and ask for a cup of water, they usually do not have a problem with it. Water is a lot better to drink on a hot summer day, instead of sugary soft drinks.
  12. I have actually got off the Son of Beast roller coaster and felt a little bit "beat up". It has also caused me a bad headache. I am a pretty stout guy 6'4" and 230#. I am not a "small guy" by any means. I can handle the SOB most times, but I have experienced a few times that I did not feel great after riding. I chose to re-ride again at another time knowing that I might be sore after riding. I have (what I felt) good rides on some times, and other times, not so well. Has anyone ever had a ride experience like that? Not sure of the fate of SOB, but I hope maybe Cedar Fair might be able to do something positive with this ride. If they can't, maybe they can recycle parts of the coaster, like the lift hill and maybe other sections that may or may not be affected. We will see???
  13. I am very sad, the Timberliner trains have been testing for several years correct? I do not understand the hold up? Gravity Craft (Gravity Group) wants the coaster trains to run on another roller coaster to see how they hold up for an entire season? If they hold up on another "less extreme" coaster, that tells me nothing on how they will hold up on Voyage. Sounds to me like they have little confidence on their product. 1. If you run a coaster train on The Beast, compared to The Racer, yes a lot more wear and tear should occur due to the speed, drops, and general G-force. 2. Is that what is going on with Son of Beast trains and the structure having more wear and tear on it? Greater speed and all around force. 3. I do understand testing the Timberliner trains to its fullest, so there is "any" issues. In the end we want a safe and fun coaster to ride. 4. Testing began a few years back on The Timberliner trains, running on The Legend (sorry if it was the Raven) I thought things were going smooth? In the end, I will be disappointed by the lack of Timberliners, but in the end, safety is the biggest concern, I am all for it. This is going to be my first trip to Holiday World come summer. Still gonna have fun!!!
  14. Sorry, I think its lame. My 10 yr old son said "It might be fun once, but after that.......?" We need to fix that "BIG Dinosaur" (which is pretty much extinct) at the front of the park called Son of Beast. That attraction needs some much needed attention. If its not gonna get fixed, or re-worked to "RECYCLE" parts of the coaster, or whatever...KI needs to move on and do something and build me a new major wooden coaster so I can stop dreaming of riding SOB ever again. LOL
  15. Thank you very much. I posted pretty much the same thing, not to put down someone about repeating a topic. I made the same mistake myself(so what?) I also stated about every few days the topic about SOB pops up. This is a dead issue for now. I will wait to hear from KI, to see what will happen next.
  16. May I ask a little question? Why is everyone picking on them for posting a topic about the "Vortex sinking"? Yes it is a repeat topic, but I did try one day to post a topic on KIC, and by no fault of my own, I accidentally repeated a topic myself. By the way, about every few days I see the KIC forums asking the same old boring topic about Son of Beast. That is like beating a dead horse (or coaster) It seems like, "Just one more SOB question" NO, I do not believe Kings Island is gonna spend a lot of money trying to open this coaster. This is just my opinion. So please go easy on the innocent people who "ACCIDENTALLY" repeat a topic question.
  17. I would love to see a KI video game, maybe on the Roller Coaster Tycoon 2&3 fronts.
  18. I agree completely, SOB needs this treament and the loop added once again.
  19. Wow, seems like a lot of parks are dropping "Movie theme" and/or "character" names and themes. I guess with the copyrights and those fees that are charged, these parks would rather spend their money elsewhere. Coaster ride name changes, Terminator to Apocalypse Top Gun to Flight Deck, Evil Knievel to American Thunder, where does it end? When the movie gets too old and kids have no idea what Top Gun even was, they lose interest. I actually overheard a few kids in line commenting "they have not seen/or care to see the movie" claiming it was probably "lame" I say drop the movie names and come up with a cool name.
  20. The Beast is a great "terrain" coaster, it follows the lay of the land very well. Its not a "parking lot" coaster(built on a flat piece of land) I have no idea what this coaster will do or how it will follow the land. Will it be fun? Who knows? Not me, I will probably never leave the country. So, I guess The Beast will remain in my heart as the wooden coaster (at least in America) which is the longest.
  21. Good morning everyone, Happy Thanksgiving. Wow it was tough reading some of the posts on here. I think we all need to agree that FD is getting a much needed paint job. I do like the Afterburn paint scheme, or whatever Kings Island comes up with. Anyone following the Texas Giant rehab? I would love to see this happen to SOB. If not maybe remove it(I hate saying that) and put a nice woodie, like the Voyage.
  22. Did anyone get to ride The Bat? I was lucky enough to ride it twice. I think I still have a button that says "I rode it" with The Bat logo.
  23. Mantis is not that bad, but I only take a spin once when I visit. The stand-up coaster I cannot do is the TOGO model, I am 6'4" and the restraints kill my shoulders, I even tried the Shockwave at KD and the same problem. The B&M version doesn't seem to bother me at all.
  24. Someone suggested that more "trims" not sure? My idea, is there will be so many trims on this coaster, it will be a slow kiddie coaster with a 305ft lift hill. LOL just kidding. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.
