  1. Since Wild Thornberry's was already taken, I'll take my other ride. Danny Phantom's Phantom Flyers!
  2. You will be able to work rides once you turn 16. I had two people on my crew this year who turned 16 long after they were actually hired, but they never worked until they turned 16.
  3. They declined a lot of people this summer. They had a record number of applicants. Don't get too down about it and try again this year.
  4. Make sure you apply early. Also good advice to know where you want to work. Depending on the department you want to work in, the interviewer will be different. For the interview itself, it's not a huge deal, at least in rides if you have pretty much open availability and you at least seem interested then you should get the job, assuming of course that there are spots open.
  5. Hopefully they'll get new license plates for the mini's. They're going to be 5 years expired by the time KI opens up next year.
  6. Where to start? First, it's a water ride. Expect to get wet. If you don't want to get wet, don't ride. Second, if you find the water in the boats to be that big a problem go to guest relations and complain that all the boats have water in them...please...we only have 9 functional boats and half of them leak like crazy, maybe if people complain they'll do something about it. Because of the fact that we only have 9 boats, we could not take any boats off yesterday, or any day anymore unfortunately, whether they were full of water or not. On Saturday we received something like 18 negative guest comments because people got wet on the ride. Some even complained that the elephant was on...it wasn't. Again, if you don't want to get wet why are you riding a WATER ride???
  7. Yeah. A protest "strated" by people that have poor grammer skills. That "sould" get their attention, and have an effect in the decision. Oh sweet irony. A simple typo vs. that post? Get a life. If you're going to critique someones grammar and spelling then you might want to make sure you double check your post so as not to be made a fool of.

  9. I heard Slaughterhouse was supposed to be good. As for bad ones, Tombstone Terrortory is supposedly not very good other than the fact you get to ride the train to it, and you'd probably see me working the train
  10. I have heard that the train is going to be rethemed this year, and I've also heard that the starlight stuff might be their retheme. Nothing concrete, but I think that would be a good place for it.
  11. Huh? Treated water does not stay treated. It must be retreated from time to time to stay compliant. Thus, the above comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It made sense in my head. I hate it when that happens . When I first thought of it, it sounded good, but then I thought that I had thought of it backwards, and then got it straight. I *think* I meant if the water just sits there, then more algea and other organisms can start to grow in it. When that happens, it would take more chemicals to treat, wouldn't it? I don't know. I guess everything in these two posts by me makes no sense. So, do you, Terpy, have insight as to why they drain one reserve and not the other? The lake is natural and would be exceedingly difficult to drain. The pool is not.
  12. Huh? Treated water does not stay treated. It must be retreated from time to time to stay compliant. Thus, the above comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We have tanks of HCl behind the ride to treat it.
  13. I'm going to assume that Diamondback FOF is correct in his reasoning, but why would I know for sure why they drain flumes and not WWC's? I do however, know that the pool is the reserve for flume, as I am a supervisor there.
  14. I actually did not know about that lake, but it has absolutely nothing to do with flume except being behind it. Flume's reserves is the concrete reservoir. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but notice White Water Canyon's reserve- the one on the right- is filled while the attraction's trough is empty. With Wild Thornberry's River Adventure, notice the pond is filled while both the flume and the concrete pool at the end are empty. If the concrete pool was WTRA's reserve, wouldn't it always be filled? I'm not claiming that WTRA's reserve is the small pond, but if the concrete pool was, wouldn't it need to be filled? Of course, I don't have any background in how reserves for water-rides worked The pool is drained in the off season. It is full throughout the entire season. EDIT: Also, the lake by WWC is always full.

  16. I wasn't talking about Paramount Story. I was referring to you calling the reservoir for the Wild Thornberry's a "lake". While Paramount Story might look natural, the reservoir for the flume looks like exactly what it is: a concrete pool.
  17. In 1973, it had Bavarian Beetle, Der Spinnen Keggers, Bier Garten, Sky Ride, The Rotor, Bayern Curve, and Flying Dutchman... Although they may not fit theme-wise, Sling Shot and Adventure Express are considered part of the area. Nor would many people want it to... that would restrict it from being a family-friendly ride. And based off Canada's Wonderland's 360-degree swinging ship, I'd prefer to keep our tamer Viking Fury Not quite... besides a few ponds scattered around the former Wild Animal Safari land, there are also the reserves for White Water Canyon and Wild Thornberry's River Adventure. And the water features in Paramount Story (when they're actually on...) LOOK natural I wouldn't consider a concrete reservoir a lake...
  18. If I understand correctly, ride ops are assigned to more than one ride. What is the log flume paired with? Danny Phantom's Phantom Flyers. Also, I'd say that there are as many rides without a pair as their are ride groupings.
  19. Nick characters, heavily themed, on the edge of Nick U - hmmm, I wonder why people associate it with the kids area, could it be because it is part of the kids area. Also note the following quote from the KICentral timeline http://www.KICentral.com/history/timeline.php 2001: King’s Mill Log Flume, renovated and renamed as The Wild Thornberry’s, reopens as part of the new Nick Central area. Of course Scooby is part of I-Street, so you can't always let geographic location enter into the equation I know what the map says and what the general guest thinks about the flume, but the rides department has the log flume placed in Rivertown (as well as BLSC) and it annoys me when the people that I work with every day tell me I'm part of kiddy land all the time. Sorry, but I'm picky like that
  20. I swear I'll burn the log flume down if they make it snoopy themed!! I'm tired of people associating it with the kids area. We are part of Rivertown!
  21. I have never actually experienced anything out of the ordinary, but I work at the park and many of my co-workers say they have seen things. First, I work at the log flume, there are cameras in the tower at the top of the lift hill, one shows the brakes that the boats stop on before going onto the track, one shows the top of the lower lift hill. I have two friends who claim to have seen a ghostly hand wave in front of the brake camera and a small girl walk across the top of the low lift. Second, in addition to the ghost that throws rocks at tower 2 at WWC (named Woody) there is also a girl in a blue dress. Legend has it that she died in the lake that used to be in that area, specifically the area in the ravine below the train bridge. She has been known to chase after the train at night. I know two people that have seen her from the back of the train, another that has had guests complain to him about seeing the ghost, and another that saw the ghost from tower 3 at WWC (the tower across from the overlook, the tracks go right behind it). Another ghost at WWC is the girl in the red dress, I don't know much about her, but my friend says she saw her standing at the bottom of the lift at WWC on the dock near the runout. Tower Johnny also supposedly haunts The Beast as well as the tower. It's rumored that the cables that killed him are buried near the brake shed and at night you can see a pair of ghostly red eyes right beside the shed. I don't know anyone who claims to have seen them, but I've heard the story many times. Supposedly you can also see his ghost in the helix.
  22. That would be gross and funny at the same time! haha Would you imagine someone's already thought of this and built a park with said idea in mind? Three words. Bon. Bon. Land. EDIT: And 900 posts! Suhweetness! After looking that up, I lost all faith in humanity...well, maybe only the Dutch.
  23. Why would they? Wild Thornberry's is Nick, and it's the oldest of the Nick shows represented at KI. It hasn't been on in 10 years. It should have been gone years ago. I'm really hoping Snoopy doesn't take over the log flume, unless he goes where the elephant is with his leg up.
  24. You shouldn't believe everything you hear, even from park employees. And whichever employees told you that stuff could be in a lot of trouble because we are not allowed to say anything regarding things that haven't been made public.
