  1. If I'm thinking of the same thing you're mentioning, then they are for manual release in case the computer fails for some reason.
  2. Tonight at around 9:55 a woman came up to me at Phantom Flyers asking where the "Fire House" was. I looked at her confused and she said "It's a ride" I then realized she meant Firehawk. She was mad when I told her she wouldn't be able to get there in time.
  3. I kicked someone out of Flume's line today because she refused to put out her cigarette after I spieled twice and had one of my associates go tell her to put it out. You go girl (or boy!) Boy

  5. All the stuff from Phantom Theatre is still at KI in various graveyards around the backstage area. I'd like to see that back.
  6. At the other two locations they actually know how to check height. The guest relations workers seem to either not care or not know what they're doing when it comes to height checking. I'm sure your co-workers in Guest Relations appreciate your support and confidence. I've actually found them to be very helpful and friendly about checking height on the many, many occasions that I've been there. The stand in GR is also consistent, which can not always be said for the different people in NickU. Every kid I've seen that has a wrist band that they shouldn't have has said they were checked at GR. The bands are for rides, so it should be rides people doing the checking.

  8. You know Drop Tower and Flight Deck are one crew so no wonder why you like the crew at both rides! I also love them (not just because I know a lot of them) but they are always fun no matter how much attention their ride gets. Yeah I know. Everyone says that Top Gun's crew is (they said this before Son of Beast closed) with Son of Beast's crew. SOB & TG's crew were together in 2008 and earlier, but in 2009 Son of Beast crew also worked at Days of Thunder, until Son of Beast closed than they went to a few other Action Zone rides. And also, Isn't Drop Zone with Delirium? Cause there was a blond hair girl who is always at Drop Zone, and every now and than I see her working Delirium. SOB/Top Gun were paired from until the end of 2008. This year it was SOB/Thunder Alley and Drop Zone/Top Gun. Delirium is paired with Slingshot and now Thunder Alley.
  9. I think Woodstock on his skateboard would be a better theme for avatar.
  10. Some of the best times working are pride nights.
  11. coulda been Beast... it's had some issues lately, not sure what, but it's been shut down a few times, but I don't think for long - like, not even a day. *shrug* Those issues are absolutely nothing that would cause the ride to go down for long. Minor problems that took them a while to find the reason for.
  12. I was not aware of that...but any idea how often it is claimed...I swear some of the change at The Thonberrys looks like it's been rotting there for years. They drain the reservoir every off season and the ride clean-up crew goes down there and collects it all, as well as scrubbing it down.
  13. Danny Phantom's Phantom Flyers.
  14. On PHANTOM FLYERS??? That's so stupid. What's the point of getting all worked up over a kiddie ride? His kid didn't even seem to care. But, yea, I've been called racist and many other, much worse, names by guests with a short kid. On Wed. At Flume I had a kid that was about 1 1/2 - 2 inches too short to ride and her mom got all worked up saying they rode every week and they had gold passes and how ridiculous I was being. She then asked me where the exit was...*facepalm* Gold pass syndrome. Just because one has a gold pass (along with a million other people) does not mean you are entitled to certain things that are not in the control of the associates. My *facepalm* was more directed at them not knowing where the exit is even though they supposedly ride it every week. And I'd never seen them before and I'm working constantly lol.
  15. That's how I feel about people throwing change into The Wild Thornberry's water...I just don't get it. That change goes to a scholarship fund for employees. Same with all the other money that is found in the park. So I'm ok with them throwing money into the water.

  17. I had a guest today with a kid about 1/4 of an inch too short for Phantom Flyers and his dad almost hit me. Called me an a** on his way out the exit too. I laughed.
  18. I can't see how they're going to get enough people to work for the Thursday's. Our crews empty out enough on the weekends during post season, with people away at college and others having to go to high school the next morning I can't believe they will have enough people to run even just the big rides.
  19. I really love it when guests yell at me when their kid's too short, like it'll make me let them on. More than likely if you yell at a ride op about that they'll just ignore you or call security, so it's in your best interest to accept that your kid is too short.
  20. What the h*** have I been working then? You must be working Wild Thornberry's. Indyguy4KI is talking about Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal when he references "where the old log ride used to be" I know what was being referenced, but since my ride is right across from DB I figured I'd throw that out there. Apparently I failed
  21. What the hell have I been working then?
  22. I lost my keys on an after close test ride on DB. Luckily I could just go out to the trims and get them since I work at the park.
  23. This is something we are not explicitly trained for, no, but it is something that everyone does, because it is completely acceptable. Again, there is no one forcing you to put your kid on the ride with a stranger, but it is an option that the ride operator is giving you. If a ride operator ever tried to force you to put your kid on with a stranger then I could understand the outrage, but from what I read from the OP, the ride operator simply put the option out there. If you don't feel comfortable with your kid riding with a stranger then don't let them. But I've had countless parents who have kids too small to ride by themselves and refuse to ride the ride. Often there are empty seats next to other adults and the parents ask me if they can put their kid with them. If it's ok with the parent and the other adult then why on earth should I stop it? If a parent asks"hey I see an empty seat, and I would like my little one to ride with him/her is that okay with them?" Then as a ride op you should go over to the responsible person ask them if its okay. If he/she says yes its fine, then you should go back to the parent tell him/her that the responsible adult has agreed to let the child ride with them, then fine I can see this as the only acceptable case. In other terms you should NOT ask the parent the question if they want the little one to go ahead and ride without them. Its a family area!! Maybe its the little ones first time riding and he/she wants to enjoy it with he/she parents. You asking shouldn't even come to mind. If your area is Nick U, Last time I checked there was training for situations like this. Like I said you putting the question out there is just awful enough. The only time I would ever actually put the kid in with another adult is if both the parent and the other adult are fine with it, and I'm sure no operators would do it without making sure it's ok with both parties. Situations arise, however, where the parent does not want to or cannot ride with their child, in which case, to put all their options right in front of them, I, and every other ride operator, will ask if they would perhaps want their kid to ride with another adult. The is nothing wrong with this, and many times parents do that. Other times the parent decides not to do it. Either way the final say is always with the parent. There is absolutely no one forcing them to put their child on the ride with a stranger. If a situation comes up where the parent does not want to ride or can not and the toddler is under the the height requirement but can ride with a responsible parent. Then you need to state to the parent of the child the rules and regulations for riding with a responsible parent. You usually won't run into this ordeal. If you do and explain to them the rules with under height requirement but can ride with a responsible parent, Most of the time someone of that party (16+,meets height requirement, and shows responsible behavior) Will speak up and ride with the toddler. The last thing on your mind should be asking another adult to take responsibility for another ones toddler. I don't see why you have a problem with making a suggestion... again: the decision is never anyone but the parents. I'm leaving this discussion now, because I don't think we're getting anywhere.
