  1. One more thing I looked up was Coney Island (Ohio)'s pay one price for all rides price. Not counting the pool. $11. Then I noticed they only have 1 roller coaster and about 10-15 "adult" flats at most. Plus $7 parking. Still a good value, but is it worth travelling for 2 hours for? Not in my eyes. But, if you live close to Coney Island Ohio...
  2. True, and it is probably best the way it is. But again, this is a "What If" scenario. Always fun to do. I do wish, however, that KI would sell a "Pay One Price, eat all ya want!" food & drink ticket! $20 would be fair considering the current food prices...but then... 4 people going to KI... $120 for 4 Kroger Tickets $80 for 4 food tickets $15 for parking =$215!!! Ow...well, then again, if you decide to stuff yourself while at KI, it's still a good value...
  3. That might happen. But there are parks that are successful that use this system, Knoebels uses it. Here are their prices, which I used to base mine on: http://www.knoebels.com/rates.asp I think Indiana Beach might do this too...yep, they do. But they charge $30 for a ride-all-day pass. Considering how many rides KI has, a ride-all-day pass might end up being over $50...well, it already is $42.99 for the entire park. $29 if you get a discount.
  4. The rides would be the same, the Haunt attractions would be $1 each, or a $10 package for all haunt attractions. You choose. And a Haunt & Rides combo is $25.
  5. And then they would spread it to their other parks... Millennium Force $15.00, re-rides $10.00... Me: I'm going to Holiday World or Six Flags instead! Screw this!
  6. Good point...knowing Cedar Fair... Diamondback $10.00, $7.50 re-rides...etc...
  7. Yet another interesting idea I've had in my head for a while- what if Kings Island switched to a pay-per-ride system, where people can pay for only what they want and nothing more? Let's assume SOB re-opens as-is for this. Also, let's add some "ride package" tickets. And be reasonable! -Ride EVERYTHING (Flats, Water Park, & Coasters) -Ride EVERYTHING Except Water Park -Ride EVERYTHING Except Roller Coasters & Water Park -Just The Coasters Except, of course, the current pay-per-rides... Here is what I would charge...note that when you re-ride, it's 50% off from the first ride. Major Roller Coasters- $3.00 Includes... Diamondback The Beast Son of Beast Invertigo Vortex Firehawk Flight of Fear Mid-Core Roller Coasters- $2.00 Includes... The Racer (Both sides) Backlot Stunt Coaster Flight Deck Adventure Express Kids Coasters- $1.00 (except LBGC) Includes... Avatar Fairly Odd Coaster Rugrats Runaway Reptar Little Bills Giggle Coaster ($0.50) Current Pay Per Rides...??? Same price as current. Mega Flatrides...$2.00 Includes... Drop Tower Delirium The Crypt Flatrides...$0.75 Includes... All Flats not in Nick-U or considered a Mega Flat Nick-U Flats...$0.25 Includes... All Nick-U Flats Water Rides...$0.75 Includes... ALL Water Rides & Slides, including Congo Falls & White Water Canyon A Free Ride...$0.00 Eiffel Tower (I'm nice here!) PACKAGES -Ride EVERYTHING (Coasters, Flats, Water Rides) $40.00 for Adults, $20.00 for kids -Ride EVERYTHING but Water Rides(except Congo & WWC, you can ride for those with this) $30.00, $15.00 for kids -Ride All Coasters $20.00, $10.00 for kids -Ride All Flats $15.00, $7.50 for kids includes Congo Falls & WWC -All Water Rides $15.00, $7.50 for kids includes Congo Falls & WWC -Eat All Day $20.00 for UNLIMITED Food & Drinks!!! So, would this be a good value? Let's see...from the day I went on May 16th... Actually Paid $29+$6+$10=$46 Under this plan... Eiffel Tower=$0 Crypt=$2 Beast=$3 SRR=$0.75 Vortex=$3 Action Theatre=$0.75 Congo Falls=$0.75 White Water Canyon=$0.75 Diamondback=$3 Flight Deck=$2 The Racer=$2 Flight of Fear=$3 Eiffel Tower re-ride=$0 The Beast re-ride=$1.50 Carosuel=$0.75 Total Paid On Rides:$23.25 Plus $20 Meal Ticket:$43.25 Holy Cow under my plan I saved 3 bucks...sorry for the crazy long post. Poll on my prices above. Enjoy. If you don't like polls(though this more of a discussion) click back. Thanks and enjoy! PS: I do NOT think we will ever see any Cedar Fair park adopt these policies, but it's fun to imagine and say "What if?" Double PS: Parking remains $15. Sorry.
  8. Promises, promises.... (Does it have strong laterals?) Terpy, known lateral fan BTW, Son of Crystal Beach Cyclone is crazy rough (think SOB but 100x worse) and has OTSRs. It also has a nasty habit of flying off the track for no reason and crashing into explosives, which are nearby for some reason... I would take a pass on it.
  9. http://www.coastergrotto.com/park.jsp?argId=21 This coastergrotto, a web site where users can rate roller coasters they have ridden and keep track of their track records(I am a member there, I suggest signing up BTW). Look at the rating for King Cobra. A 6. Not exactly the best ride in the world. Son of Beast fares better, with the average user rating of 7.4. PS: Off topic, but Diamondback is awesome and this seems to show it. A 9.5 out of 10 average! It's ranked #7 in the world on this site... Second PS: Wow, just noticed the site has 4 news articles related to SOB on the link...wow. The only other one is about DB. Wait, where is the Firehawk is coming in '07 news!?!?
  10. This is kinda off-topic but it came to mind...there's an old saying: "You don't know much you care about something until it's gone" This seems to apply to KI rides. Remember King Cobra, the stand-up coaster everyone wants back (or a new, similar ride)? When it was still operating, it was mostly hated. This also seems to be happening with SOB...if SOB is removed, I imagine there will be quite a few people begging KI to build another Wooden Hypercoaster shortly afterwords. Back on topic...
  11. I'll be even more honest, I would not mind if while they were fixing the roughness issues, they added tunnels to both helixes, or at least the Rose Bowl. And if they made the supports strong enough, re-installed the loop. Then, instead of SOB being predictable(another critisicm it gets, only surpassed by roughness) you go flying through a dark tunnel at 70+ mph and then wham, a loop. However, it could just be a dream... Thinking about this, there should probably be a whole topic about how to go about overhauling SOB if it happens...
  12. OK...how about this scenario, Son of Beast re-opens, and is as smooth as front seat of blue train in back(and that much better in front?) Would that be acceptable(I think so)? Though let's be honest, it re-opens, we would LIKE it to be only a tiny bit rough(just to be a woodie, of course)
  13. For those who don't mind polls and haven't checked the poll section, a reaction poll to the "Son of Beast gets removed for 2010" scenario that is possible: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19502 If you don't like polls(especially SOB ones!) do not click the above link. Thanks for your time.
  14. Thanks! Seems waiting to make these allows me to really think, and thus the polls get creative...
  15. Wow. 3 polls in one day. I'm starting to get back to my old ways here...worse yet, it's a SOB poll about something that hasn't yet happeneed but could- the removal of SOB for 2010. This poll will become irrelevant once the fate of SOB is revealed, but due to all the speculation, I figured this one would be interesting to say the least. I've also added a 2nd poll, what if it stays? My reaction: I would be FURIOUS. Why? I never even got to ride the darn thing! If it does re-open, however, I would perfer to see some major "upgrades" in the offseason. Enjoy the poll. Or click back. And yes, there is some humor here too. (Puts up Anti-Flame shield)
  16. Sorry to those who hated these...but I thought up a good coaster battle. If you dislike, click back. Kings Island has a lot of great(or not) major mega-thrill coasters (Beast, SOB, Vortex, Flight of Fear, Diamondback, etc.) and those usually get all the attention. But there is another selection of coasters, the mid-core "family thrill coasters". These coasters aren't insanely massive. They don't feature loops. And they don't go crazy fast. But these rides shouldn't be overlooked, in fact, I believe Kings Island may have some of the best mid-core coasters in the entire world. Which one do you like the most? PS: I know Racer hits over 60mph, but by modern standards that's not too bad. And I list FOC and Avatar, even though they are billed as kid's rides, they are also labeled as 4/5 intensity on the park map. Enjoy the poll. If you don't... I will force you to ride Son of Crystal Beach Cyclone. Trust me, you don't want to ride it. It's 300+ feet tall and pulls 25 lateral Gs. And it is wooden.
  17. Well, I finally think I got another good poll idea. Since the 2009 regular season is a few days from ending, I figured a look back at all the big events was in order. Which one do you think was the most significant? And as a second vote, how good was this year compared to other season's Kings Island has had? And do you think Kings Island will be this good(or bad) in 2010? (BTW, if you don't like polls...why did you click on this!?!? )
  18. all Hail Phantom lmao Hold on. Just realized Scooby Doo liscence doesn't expire next year. Wait a second...Scooby AND Snoopy!?!?
  19. Due to the recent news that Planet Snoopy is coming in 2010... It will be here next year, but re-themed and won't be in its current form. Perhaps this could be the return of an old favorite...Phantom Theater. Or a "new" ride could be put in there.
  20. I'd say...sadly no. But, this could be return of Phantom Theater. From what I heard, they still had all the stuff. Or a new ride will get put in there. Also, Spongebob will be leaving Action Theatre. So there will be a new movie for 2010 in there.
  21. Wow, just checked and you are right! I guess that's some sort of record...(Lame Joke Ahead!)they built 2 whopping feet taller than they normally do! How did Cedar Fair talk them into that?
  22. Looks like a great ride, similar to our DB but just different enough to be a different ride. Though I'm a wee bit dissapointed since I was expecting a US or World record breaker, not a "local" record breaker. (Unless it break's Diamondback's airtime record, which we have not found out yet) Oh well, it's the ride experience that counts. PS: I wonder if anyone will get this and Intimidator 305 confused with each other...(I say yes!) Maybe naming TWO rides "Intimidator" was a bad idea...
  23. ...I'm sorry to dissapoint you, but B&M's go higher than 230 feet...ever heard of a coaster called Silver Star @ Europa Park? http://www.rcdb.com/1414.htm Again, sorry...
  24. It's possible. But then we would have been lied to. "Carowinds announces B&M Hyper that breaks zero world records" My Response: YOU BIG #^&!*^!^!* LIARS!!!
  25. I've been thinking about this recently, and how about this compromise? 1 poll per week? That's not too much, is it?
