  1. Also Embassy Suites does free drinks at the manager's reception. I know rooms at Americas Best Inn offers jacuzzi rooms under their suites.
  2. http://www.tripadvis...hio-Hotels.html I like this site for guest reviews, photos, amenities, and pricing. I heard a lot of good things about America's Best Inn. If you do not want to stay in Mason, others might suggest the Blue Ash or Cincinnati area. I love Embassy Suites (there is one in Cincinnati), but I do not know how that particular one is. Those two locations seem to have more of a romantic getaway feel as opposed to a family heading to the local attractions vibe.
  3. I am going the same weekend as you, and I just double checked hotel prices to make sure my hotel and rate was one of the better ones. Anyway, that 39.99 one queen bed room at Microtel went up to 49.99 after the 20% off promo expired. Today that room is going for 79.99/night. I was watching a 2 queen bed room for 54ish with 20% off promo (tax included?) and it now runs 99.99/night. Yes, I am still referring to the same website, and this is why I book in advance!
  4. I got my poncho ready if that be the case Anyway, even the hour-by-hour on the day of can be inaccurate (nearly every Friday in October was wrong for CP, but it helped keep the crowds light.)
  5. Research shows meat isn't as healthy as one might think. On average, vegetarians live longer, healthier lives. People are under the impression meat is great because of protein, but really protein can be found in other sources. Also meat can be high in bad things such as cholesterol, and getting a large order of fries with that burger really doesn't help the cause, for example. As for why switch to vegetarian, visit a factory farm or slaughterhouse or ride on a transportation truck or train and see how billions of animals every year in the U.S. face their death; things certainty aren't a walk in the park for them. There are sympathetic/empathetic people out there, for instance, Michael Jackson was, who do not believe in the unethical aspects from raising to slaughtering animals. Also people are vegetarians for the health benefits and to help the environment. In South America, rain forests are being cut down in part to build grazing areas for cattle.
  6. Doesn't Skyline Chili in the park offer vegetarian burritos as do other Skylines out of the park? My sister and I are both vegetarians, and we always eat before entering the park if we do a half day or leave the park if we are doing a full day. Not only are we limited in selections, but the quality for the price being paid, especially for the items we get, is ridiculous.
  7. If you book two weeks before your stay, a queen suite (sofa, fridge, microwave) at Microtel will cost $63.99 per night (for that particular weekend). However, there is no pool or exercise room and the breakfast is said to be skimpy.
  8. These would make some good 5 @ 5 questions. Anyway, I'm also concerned because my friend has a CP pass (basic) purchased from the Internet. He wants to upgrade to platinum but our KI visit will be way before CP. I am curious if he could upgrade at KI to platinum from a CP regular pass. Anyone know? If not, I have a phone call to make...
  9. I want to think both are jokes because of the announcements occurring on April 1st. At the same time, a stunt like this might cost them readers who will believe it and never check the blog again. I also want to think it is for real because perhaps no one reads these blogs when compared to different content on Facebook or Twitter, so they figure channel more energy (and followers) into social networking sites and screw the blog.
  10. New guy. As much as I love Scooby Doo, the new guy is funny looking; reminds me of an older, worn version of Shaggy after his party days in the 70s.
  11. I was able to book a room with double beds at Days Inn for $32 plus tax last August. I believe the hotel is closed--either temporarily or permanently--because I cannot locate rooms on any websites. I do agree you get what you pay for here, but I too have such great memories. Both ice machines were broken (review websites showed they were many weeks before and after my trip). When my sister went for answers, the manager waved a dollar in her face as he suggested she go to the gas station. After this incident, we made it a point to set our alarms to get breakfast as soon as it opened. I remember showing up and items were near extinct and pastries were already hard. We just laughed because all we cared about was KI.
  12. If they do charge for 3-D glasses, as they do/did for Disaster Transport at CP, find the nearest trash by the exit and pick yourself up a free pair. Seriously, the trash can by DT's exit was loaded with clean glasses because the primary use for guests was to dispose glasses--it was away from food stands and people were unlikely to have food/drinks to dispose of when exiting the ride. The only concern is the germ factor, but hey, you never know if those dirty glasses somehow made its way back to the vendor's cart!
  13. Uh, yes. He's planning on going the second weekend: http://www.KICentral...ndpost&p=365884 One hour (Saturday) plus one half hour (Sunday) = 1.5 hours, or at least it did when I went to school! Terpy, very good at Classic Concentration....and other rebi.... Correct! I meant 1.5 extra hours during my trip; my trip = Sat. the 24th and Sun. the 25th. P.S. There was one part that was incorrect--the "he." I'm actually a she, but my profile stated otherwise for a few weeks, maybe months, after sign up!
  14. I cannot complain about this one; an extra 1.5 hours of ride time during my trip!
  15. This ride could make a great addition to Haunt as an attraction. When Planet Snoopy is closed for the night, screamsters could invade Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. While I am preoccupied shooting my gun, a screamster could leap out and unexpectedly scare me. Plus it would be cool to ride through a haunt instead of walk. There is no need for adding scenery, and it would not be difficult to warn guests this is a scare zone. When it is morning, the ride can reopen as normal. Just visioning.
  16. Revenge of the Mummy and The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman were awesome; I loved the themeing and where-is-this-ride-taking-me feel. I liked Twister because it felt like I was in a tornado. I went with my family a few years ago on December 26th and either the 25th or 27th. Of course the park was extremely crowded despite the cold temperatures. I waited nearly 3 hours for Spiderman and even the E.T. ride was an hourish! Hey, it was my family's idea to go.
  17. That would have been cool if the early ride times started the second weekend as opposed to the third.
  18. Does anyone know when the processing center will open when the season starts? So say if I went on Friday April 23 when the park opens at 5 p.m., what will be the earliest time I can get a pass processed that night?
  19. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere yet, but the perks are listed on KI's website.
  20. I didn't plan on it until I heard a radio commercial advertise that a local theater will offer it as a X-D 3-D showing. Now I am curious!
  21. On average, how much money does it cost for the park to run a ride (minus external factors such as maintance crew, ride ops, etc.). For example, how much does it cost to run one Diamondback train a full cycle? Or how about one turn on the Crypt?
  22. Michael Jackson's Thriller for (the now non-existant) SDTHC.
  23. Yes, I meant Days Inn. Most websites still list this hotel as an option, but when I hit search for rates, no rooms and rates appear. For example, try searching a date using the link provided. I can only think the property is closed or being fixed up.
  24. Does anyone know if this motel closed? I went to check rates via multiple Internet sites but all returned 'no matching criteria.' If this location closed because of nastiness, then I can see why.
