I doubt that it will be torn down before the upcoming season and unless it is going to be running I doubt we hear anything mentioned about it at all. I personally see it as a good sign that it is still listed on website. At the very least that seems to mean they havent ruled out the possibility of attempting to get it running again.

""This is a strong company and even given the economy, it looks to be very promising," said attorney Jack Landskroner, who is representing investors in a class action suit." I know lawyers have to do and say whats best for their clients interests...but really???

I too have liked the direction the park seems to be heading these past few years. It is sad that it had to come to this but at the same time it probably the best situation for the park we love and want to see grow.

I meant years lol but I suppose you never know.

Turning CF into an attractive investment opportunity for another may take some time. The company has an enormous amount of debt and getting that to a level that makes it attractive to other buyers will almost certainly be a multi year process. Of course the sale could fall through or Apollo could decide to sell of individual assets or a number of other things could happen, but I think if the sale is completed we are looking at 3-6 of Apollo ownership. (Just my opinion.)

Wow these are awesome! Thanks for sharing these!

I would think that either way we probably won't hear anything before the sale of CF becomes finalized or the deal falls through. It would seem to me that Apollo would want some say since it will be a major financial commitment to fix or remove it.

I really don't see much coming of these lawsuits at this time. It appears to me to just be people fishing for something they think could be there. I would be suprised if the sale is not approved and if we see any significant visable differences in park operations this year. I think the news that CF headquarters and (at least for now) management will stay the same means that Apollo is happy with the business model they see. The parks make money. Even in this economic climate CF was able to do that this year, they are simply saddled with far too much debt and this seems to be a good move (in my opinion) for everyone involved.

Very similar, yes.

I would think that at the minimum passes that have already been bought/renewed will be honored for the coming year. As for the second question...who knows? I guess we will all have to wait and see.

....Certainly not trying to prove the great Terpy wrong... It was at $9.10 this morning and reached $11.70 in after hours trading (according to the Wall Street Journal) thats close to 30 percent. The Sandusky Register misquoted the price I believe...it STARTED at $9.10 instead of ending there. Haha or perhaps my facts are completely wrong...

Wow I didn't think we would be reading about this so soon. This could turn out ot be a great thing for KI though. Obviously I don't know Apollo's plans for the parks but if they intend to sell them off individually (a possibility I would think) it makes sense that they would want to make them as attractive to potential buyers as possible. This could mean new attractions/events for KI. Not to mention being owned by a company that is much better equipped to handle the sort of debt load CF currently holds can't hurt either. Hopefully this works out well for everyone.

I guess my next question would be if you are CF/KI and if (and I certainly realize that this is quite a large 'if') you decide to reopen SoB is it forever "the painful ride that hurt those people"? Do you try to enhance its public image or do you just hope it fades over time?
-
I think the decision they make will effect when we hear the annoucment. If they are going to remove it or have it SBNO for 2010 I would think we would hear that annoucement earlier then if they decide to reopen it this year. That way they could give the bad news first then start an ad campaign around the Planet Snoopy as a positive to counter SoB closing/removal. I think if they decide that its going to be open this year though then it may be late winter, early spring before we hear anything. On a separate note if SoB is going to be open this year do you think that CF/KI would promote that fact in ads etc. or is there too much of a negative stigma attached to the ride in the eyes of the general public to do that at this point?
-
I think we can expect something on the level of Dominator for 2012. Something big enough to promote on its own but not quite on the level of Diamondback.
-
^^ No I heard its going to Worlds of Fun as part of the ride rotation program next year. I think Beast and Racer are the two "safest" bets. Lots of obvious history with both.
-
I think we have an extremely unique collection that, as far as variety goes, is excellent. Perhaps our quality doesnt match CP or some of the Six Flags parks but again that is a matter of personal opinion.
-
I certainly get excited about new rides but there is something about jumping on your favorite coaster (esp for the first time on a trip) that is a bigger thrill to me. Cresting the first hill on Beast or the launch of FoF never fails to get my adrenaline running even though I've ridden them both many times.

It's hard to beat the brillant red and yellow of Diamondback. It was refreshing to see that addition to the skyline this season.
