  1. Hey! Guess who gets to work security that morning! I DO! I'll see you all there... I have to clock in by 6:30am and I don't get to leave till 8:15pm! I love PKI! Oh, btw, I was told that Discovery Channle was coming in to film Delirium... oh well, I guess I will see on Friday morning. Hey, no one is allowed to get sick!
  2. I would doubt that the monorail is at Jungle Jims... I know they are putting one in, but the one from PKI would be pretty old anyway, and I would think that they would but in a new one.
  3. No days during the week are really busy unless we have some sort of special event i.e. concerts. The parking lot usually opens around 8:30, the front gate opens at 9am, and the rides start at 10am.
  4. I do not agree with that statement! Anytime I am out of uniform and in the park I always remind people not to smoke in line and will raise holy hell if they try to line jump. What's the point in not reminding them of the rules? I mean, they have already read it at the front gate, in the map, on the ticket, when they buy the passes, what's one more reminder going to hurt? Most people have never given me a problem when I ask them to stop smoking in line. In fact, almost everyone is like "Okay, no problem". Only a few times will the guest(s) make more of it than they should, and that's when I drop it and just call Security on my cell phone and have a uniformed officer deal with them instead of just me. Belive me, the badge does help!
  5. My bad, sorry... "Six Flags, Inc. is a publicly held corporation" direct from http://www.sixflags.com/about_us.asp
  6. Oh geezs... get over it! KC is dead and may it rest in peace!! the Drum to FoF is much bigger than it appears and is used for storage. The cars have been in the drum since we took apart the ride.
  7. Universal Studios owns Universal Theme Park. Viacom does not own Universal Studios and I'm pretty sure that Universal is it's own company... I can't find anything about a company that would own it. Six Flags is owned by Warner Brothers, which is owned by AOL Time Warner (which also owns New Line Cinemas). Viacom, which owns Paramount Parks Inc. and hence the park, also owns MTV, CMT, VH1, BET, Paramount Pictures and Home Entertainment, CBS, UPN, Nick, Noggin, TV Land, TNN, Comedy Central, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Sundance, Flix, Infinity Broadcasting (radio), Block Buster, Simon and Shuster publishing house, and Famous Music.
  8. It was nice seeing you again! I'm glad that you had a great time, I stopped in once during the breakfast and thought it was pretty interesting. Maybe they will still be doing it a while down the road when I have kids? Hopefully that will be a long while... It's funny that you say there wasn't enough... they were selling the breakfast bags for a buck in the employee cafeteria the same day, although I don't think a lot of people were going for them, most of them were there for the next two days! Are you going to make it for Night of Fire? It should be awsome, as it is every year! Oh, btw, Homearama isn't THAT bad!
  9. This sounds great! I can't wait to have a copy! DragonLord@cinci.rr.com
  10. Well, since some of the posters are employees and some of them in various managers positions, it is possible that they have read the forums. The park also takes comments that they get at GR very seriously, so it is possible that guests have complained while at the park.
  11. As long as they have a valid Military ID they can get the discount.
  12. The prices aren't too bad, 6-7 bucks for a nice meal, cheapper than Wings and about the same as other foods in the park. They also have a really good rib sampler! I don't think I saw you today italianchef... I was there working for 12 hours, so I probably did see you just didn't see you.
  13. The park has had a military discount for a long time, I belive even before the war. They still have it and it is for 50% off the normal price, so about 21 dollars, not bad!
  14. I know of two McD's that start at $7.25 or more depending on experience. Then again, most McD's are franchises and can have different start pays. They also get a raise more frequently than once every season, so by the time the season ends one could have two or more pay raises at McD's and be getting paid more than me! This is my second season and I'm only at $7.50. I could probably get a handfull of jobs that would pay 8 or more an hour and most of them would be easier than what I do now!
  15. The park stopped selling beer in the entire park after the three deaths in the same night. I belive later that season or the next season they brought the beer back, but only in a few places where the guets would have to stay on the patio where they bought it. If I see a guest walking through the park with beer, I stop them and ask them finish it that moment, throw it away or I have to escourt them to the nearest patio with beer... I'm not allowed to leave the guest until the beer has been disposed of in some manner (unless I receive an emergancy call, of course). I then reiterate the rules of keeping the beer on the patio where they purchased it and explain to them that there are signs on all the patios stating that they are not allowed to leave with their drinks.
  16. A nice pay raise would be nice... but that is very unlikely since the park has to keep building new rides and attractions and the employees have to suffer with very low pay! Of course, if I could have Mr. Ross's pay for a week I would very happy! I would imagin him having a pretty big salary, probably in the 6 figures range... * I don't work at the park for the money though, I work there b/c I LOVE the park and I LOVE my job! I can get more money working at McDonald's than the park*
  17. I only think it's ruff when I don't sit in the seat with more leg room. If I have the leg room, it's a great ride, mostly smooth and I just get some great air time and pretty dizzy. If I sit in any other seat my legs get banged and I get banged b/c I can't sit right.
  18. PKI still sells beer, although it did stop for a season or two after we had a death in the park a while back due to the alchohol. Employees should know better than to drink and drive a coaster. I'm not saying we shouldn't have beer, just more responsible guests!
  19. It's very well themed, not just a coat of paint. They did a lot of consturction on the site and added a lot of things. It looks great! Now if we only required guets to get take a breath test before selling them beer I would be happier. The backlot is very inviting, you can even sit at the bar all day if you wish. I have a feeling we are going to have a lot of drunks on our hands when they actually open the place up. When will people learn that beer and coasters don't mix?
  20. We also close the rides if we get some really, really heavy rain like we did a few days ago... an inch every twenty minutes! Hopefully things won't get bad, I have to work on Friday (I'm working the picnics if anyone will be walking by the grove from 10:30am till whenever give me a wave... I'll be the only Security officer at the grove gate). I'm also working Saturday - Tuesday. Lots of work, but lots of fun! Of course, if it rains it won't be as fun.
  21. The "official" opening of Bubba Gumps is on the 12th. The bar (I guess they call it the Backlot) has been opened since Monday.
  22. Hey all! I got to be a guest in the park today!!!! I LOVED IT! I go to the park promptly at 9am with two friends, of course we had to wait like everyone else to get to the rides at 10. Our first stop was The Beast, we were on the second train. Great ride, sat in the back loved it to death and really wished I could have been able to ride it again. Our second stop was the Egales, where I managed to get a few good snaps in. One of my friends snapped for the first time and started craking up! He loved it! We worked our way over to The Vortex, where I sat in the wrong seat and really banged up my legs. Other than that I had a great ride. Next up was Sponge Bob, not too thrilled about it. Hopefully the Temple one will be better. The Zypher wasn't opened yet and FoF was down so we went to The Racer... only the forward racer was opened so we rode that. Man did I miss that coaster! I love the air time and really enjoy the ride. When we got off the backwards racer was working again and we were right on it. Backwards is so much better than forward! We won the race too! Next up was Delirium!!! It was my first time riding (my friend's too) and we LOVED it! There is nothing in the park that comes close to that ride. It was just really, really cool! SOB was next and I was looking forward to the new bars but I didn't really notice a change. I still got banged up and I still think the ride is too ruff. I will probably avoid it in the future. After that we went to lunch, it was 12:50 by then. We left the park for lunch and got back around 2. We needed to do some slow things after eating so we went on SDATHC. I got the highest score out of the three of us: 870. Not bad since we had three in the car fighting over the targets. Next up was the log flum. Shorter than I remember, and not as fun. I didn't really get wet on the ride till that darned elephant sprayed me down. I got soaked on my entire right side. After that was Vortex again, this time with a much better seat. I enjoyed the ride much better, and I can still remember the feeling like I was going to fall out. The air time was much better as well in this seat. We hit Zypher next, it was finally opened. The ride op started singing "If your happy and you know it" and everyone on the ride sang along. When we had to stomp our feet she would ring the bell. That was fun, and was the first time I had seen anyone do that for a ride. Last for me was the Viking Ship. Still a great ride in the very back! I had to work at 4, so I said good bye to my friends and made my way to the locker room to change. I was at work by 4 and stayed till 10. My friends stuck around till close as well and had a blast! The longest I waited in a line today was 30 minutes and that was for Delirium and SOB. Most of the rides were walk ons or we only had to wait for a train or two. It was great!!!!
  23. I was on Vortex twice today, one bad ride one good. The bad ride was only b/c I was stupid and sat in the wrong seat, the seat without the leg room. The next time I road I was in the right seat, had tons of leg room and had a great ride with lots of air time! I didn't get beaten up on it or anything. Great ride.
  24. Those modem ports are nice on the pay phones!
  25. When both sides are opened and they aren't racing, it's b/c of reasons already posted... would guests rather have it racing or just get on the ride and go? Sounds like they would prefer to wait until the other side is ready. Oh well, the ride is great, IMO, racing or not.
