I don't like Cheerleaders... actually it's the parents I hate. They were mean, rude, dirty (filthy actually, Timberwolf was ankle deep in trash when it was done), ill-mannored, had no since of pride, no since of sportsmanship. They were just nasty people. I was finally put in Timberwolf around 7:15pm and shortly after the NCA called off the championship. That was a bad idea... people were THROWING things onto the stage! I saw trays, cups, balls, anything at all thrown on the stage. I finally got down to the front and stood on a bench dead center and they stopped. Then I had to close off Post 5, which goes back to the access road and to the Prefered parking lot. First off, NONE of the guests ever came through that way to get into Timberwolf, they all had to go through the main gate unless they were NCA people. So all the bullsh*t I was given by the guests about how they came in that way is just bull. I could care less where you parked, when you got there, how long you've been there, they had to exit through the park. They really didn't like that and got in my face and fu**ing went off behind me anyway and out to the lot. Someone was finally sent backstage to send all the guests out through the stage doors so I wouldn't have anymore coming out that way, and I was able to get all the guests moved back enough to close the gates, after that I didn't have any more problems. Second off, I could care less how much the park makes off this stuff, but they really need to tell the NCA to shove it for next year or make the guests realize that they are guests, teach them to use the trash cans (or all are they all like Jessica Simpson and had someone clean up after them?), teach them about good sportsmanship (if I would have seen who was throwing stuff, I would have had the team disqualified if they placed and they would have been banned from the competition if it is held at PKI), and teach them manners in general. Timberwolf was hell, people were smoking, they were drinking, they were clogging the isles by just standing in them, they weren't supposed to take in strollers and they did anyway and wouldn't move them. I'm sure there are some nice people out there for it, but all in all it was a horriable evening and I really, really don't like the NCA, NDA, or PKI for letting them in. I hope we strongly rethink next year and at least give them a list of rules to follow. Or we should charge them a HUGE clean up fee.

The park does create flat rides, like the new Delirium and (hopefully) a new one next year in Coney. The flat rides are meant to compliment the coasters and to give more of a variety in the park because a lot of the flats are family rides. What the park could do is push the campground back some, like by the river (which could open up other things like canoe trips and hikes and things) and use the land that is there. That would be cool!

The park is closed to the general public until the 27th of September. Then we are open on weekends only (to the general public) until Nov. 2nd. September is the month that is usually reserved for companies and other private parties. Click here for the calendar

Why don't we PKIUnlimited Folks meet at PKI soon?
DragonLord replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
It was really cool meeting you as well! Although I must admit it was kinda freaky to have a guest call me "DragonLord". It's still weird when an employee calls me that. -
Okay, back on topic... I haven't worked Fear Fest as a character before, but they need people to actually dress up (makeup and all) to "haunt" the park and to work in the houses. The really cool guys are the ones that sneak up behind the guests on the walkways (on roller blades!) and then get on their knees and slide past and scare the crap out of the guets that never saw (or heard) it coming! We have several houses, I think 7, and then there are the people that just walk and scare... pretty fun stuff and can pay up to 12 an hour.

I remember the water at The Beast, it did smell and it there were tons of bugs! Sometimes the pump wouldn't work and the water just sat, which made everything worse. It must have been a while ago because I don't remember it being there when I've worked... since '98

I admit that the show being gone wasn't a good thing... people really enjoyed it! However, I really hope they stop by and at least check out the Karakoke stand that's across from the Age and Weight and behind Bubba Gumps. You know what I'm talking about, the "Make your own music video" stand! I think that's a great idea and people really enjoy stopping to watch other's videos (when they let Gary play them). More people really need to check that out... 20 dollars for a video isn't that bad and you can get up to 4 people in the booth and the video is yours, so you can copy it, digitize it or whatever. Maybe Gary should team up with PKI and give out a discount coupon for the singers in Karaokoe 2003?

lol I didn't have anyone complain that they couldn't see the concert, nor did I have to tell people to get off the benches or out of the isles. All in all, it was less work for me!
-
lol Attitude got her kicked out... if it had anything to do with the crowd then Aaron Carter wouldn't be asked back either. I mean, when an Officer gets a black eye from girls fighting over something he throws off the stage...! Geezs...
-
Hmm... I guess I don't remember it, but it sounds cool. They should just bring it back. Parents need to learn how to control their childern more and actually tell them "no". It would be something nice for Coney Mall (at least something new till 05).
-
I was wondering what people were talking about right out of ear shot... The funny thing about the gate was that they had it pad locked till just before the poster contest guy came out to judge... I was the one at the outside gate fussing about cameras, you know we still had to tell a million people not to use them!

The ponds are never drained, so the fish just kinda hyberniate on the bottom during the winter. There is a foutain in the lake by The Beast, it's behind Paradise Drinks. There is also a small stream (man made, I belive) that runs under the bridge (that connects Potato Work's patio to the picnic area behind Wings) and that moves some water around as well. There was never a fountain in Coney Mall. Food shouldn't be thrown into the ponds, it can cause some problems like making the fish sick, making the ponds dirty and can clog the filters and foutain pumps. NEVER jump into a pond, lake or foutain in the park. It's happened before and you will get into a ton of trouble. If you drop something in the water, tell an employee. Odds are we can replace it for you, or we can send someone to get it. The waters are much deeper than people think and they have very muddy bottoms which you can sink into.

I know who you are! I was the one at the backstage door that told everyone that if they weren't with the poster contest that they had to sit back down. I think I saw you outside the south gate before the show as well while they were judging the posters. You guys went to the North backstage gate and they made you move over to mine (the one without the steps) and we let you in and lined you up against the fence.

Sounds like "X" would fit into the park for a new ride... a prototype that breaks down all the time and when up gets a 2 hour line in less then a minute. Sound familiar?

They didn't sell beer for Aarcon Carter, and the crowd for Billy Idol was great! I actually enjoyed the Billy Idol concert, it was really cool and the guitarist was awsome! I have only heard "White Wedding" and I didn't even know that was by Idol. Even with the beer and all, it was a great crowd. We didn't have any problems. Most of the crowd of 4,000 were employees, I think the concert only sold something like 1200 tickets, the other tickets were given away. All was well, though, everything in front of the light tower was packed and we even let people stand up against the pit fence. It was just an overall all cool concert. If you were there, I was at the backstage gate the entire time (south side, looking at the stage it would have been on your left). I was able to watch the sound check (he played "Lost in L.A.", a great song!) but I didn't really get to watch the real concert. One of our officers got a black eye during Aaron Carter... she got elbowed by one of the girls fighting over a jacket or towel or something. Poor thing had to put on a ton of make-up and wear sunglasses all night for Billy Idol. BTW, Spears is not allowed to come back to the park.

I'll probably be working (even next year), so just give me a hollar when you all get there. -
Security for 18+ is great, you get to go pretty much everywhere, get to know everyone and deal with those not-so-nice guests and endless lost kids! Ecology pays well, wharehouse pays well, rides is great, food service is okay (free lunch and all) but you get sick of smelling the food and you dno't really want to eat it after making it all day. You can do entertainment and be on stage! You can be an usher, a character (depending on size) you can work as a lifegaurd, you can work in HR, at PKIU (University, it's on site, where training and stuff is done, NOT the website). There are a ton of places you can work and things to do, it all just depends on your age and what you like.

I didn't care much for Jump5, although I didn't get to hear or see much of them either. They lipped sinked a lot though, from what I could see. Oh well, I was off to the side when they were performing. I did catch a ton of people using digital camers though and they were not allowed to be used for these concerts. Why do people even bother brining video camers? It's just common senses that you aren't allowed to video tape concerts. We can actually convenscate and erase anything not allowed in Timberwolf. People are just dumb and greedy.
-
lol I probably kepted telling you to move out of the center of the aisle or not to stand on the mulch or both. Did you have a little sister or brother with you? Dressed in orange as well? I really hated the rushing of the stage. That was not a good thing and not fun to handle. Oh well, things happen. People are dumb. At least no one got more than a bruise out of it all. We finally had to check for tickets again just to move people out of the front that weren't supposed to be there.

It was Aarcon Carter's concert day, what did you expect? I LOVE The Beast. It's the best, and will always be the best!
-
darn, this is going to be long. Short version is the last paragraph. You know, I feel really sorry for a lot of the kids I met today at the concert because their parents (well, mostly moms) are total and utter b*tchs! I only met and had to deal with two kids (teens) but all the other kids were really great. The parents were just awful! "I want my money back", "where do I get a refund", "I can't see, my kids can't see! Make everyone sit down!". OMG it's a f**king concert, we can't make everyone sit down! If you can't see, sorry! We can't do anything about it. It got to the point where we just didn't worry about kids standing on benches or anything. Oh, I want to shout out to those few parents who were really understanding and actually didn't yell at security for people standing up. I LOVE YOU ALL! Thank you! Of course when the concert ended everyone pilled up to the stage gates trying to get whatever they can. Someone asked me what they were waiting for, I said nothing that no one was coming out to do autographs or anything. We had to push so many people out of Timberwolf, it took forever! Then there were kids backstage so the families were waiting in the seats while we were clearing the theater and this one lady starting fussing at me when I was clearing her out saying she wasn't going to move anywhere till they (the families waiting on kids that were backstage) left. I got into it with her and she got all up in my face saying "do you want me to report you?" like it was going to scare me. I said "Go ahead, I'm doing my job, here's my name and badge number" then she tried to go around me, and I matched her every move which really ticked her off. God she ****ed me off. Of course, she was the last one out of Timberwolf. Oh, after J-Me sang, her family went up to the front by the pit and started handing out CDs which caused a huge rush of people by the pit and we had a mess... we really didn't like that, way too many could have gotten hurt and someone did fall (didn't get hurt thank God) and they didn't tell us that they were going to do it. It should have been thought out better on their part. We almost took away a towl or shirt that Aaron threw to the audience because so many girls dove for it and got bumped and bruised trying to get it. We finally had to tear everyone's hands off of it and the one left got it. People do weird things for such stupid stuff... he's just a kid that sings! There's nothing else special about him, thousands or millions can sing like him (btw he didn't do one original song, just remakes of other people's and he sounded just like Michale Jackson) or better than him, so what's the point of getting so hyped up about it? Long story short: People will stand at concerts, we can't make them sit down. If you can't see, tuff, don't go to concerts. When we ask you to leave, leave! Don't mill about or give us lip. Aaron Carter didn't sound that great, I liked Ashley Garland and Jerry Reid. Didn't care much for Jump 5 either.

Well, PKI doesn't really have many fires (thank God!) but they do hire EMTs and RNs and they might hire for the fire safty stuff. Just call and ask our HR department.
-
I know it's sad that some things were closed, but when schools are in session and colleges are starting up, we just don't have the people. WWC has been closed all week, but that ride takes way too many people to operate.
-
Some of the VIPs that preform at Timberwolf do ride the rides sometime during their stay. Other VIPs just call ahead of time or just show up. Also, unless they have an autograph session after the concert, then no one will be able to get backstage unless they have passes to do it. Belive me, we will clear out everyone who doesn't have a pass, and no, I don't have passes, can't make passes, won't talk to anyone or try anything to get you backstage or to have anything signed.

We do have our own pumper and firefighters on our staff, yes. The station is Station 55 (I belive). We will call Mason and/or Deerfield in to help us out with anything too big for our pumper. I also think we have employees that are trained in firefighting, but do not work directly with our fire/safty teams (work in other departments). They do, however, carry radios incase we need them and send out an all call for them.
