  1. I've got a feeling I might even try the Maxx Pass Plus, since I've never been to Soak City. Some asked for separately gated water park access, and looks like they will receive. The Junior/Senior pricing options for Maxx and Maxx Plus was a great move, too. But I'm guessing that the Kings Island passes won't include gold perks nor free parking for renewing passholders... Of course, I'm waiting for what Cedar Point is going to do for their passes, including Maxx options.
  2. My theory why you can't buy passes at/through PKI/KI is probably related to the design/look of the season passes. I know that it hasn't been decided/revealed what the park will be called or whether Paramount themes will remain for 2007. The question is, do they want a filmstrip design on the passes (as revealed in a graphic we saw for the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass) when it's possible that the park will have been de-Paramountized by the start of next season? That's possibly also a reason why Canada's Wonderland pass sales were pulled. I do doubt it has to do with the pricing though - $75 for KI only and $125 for all parks is a great deal IMO. However, how do they want to continue the gold pass program and/or other similar perks?
  3. Glad to see that we have one less Cedar Point virgin here! Gemini is one of my favorite roller coasters, and my opinion probably comes from when both tracks are in operation. You probably need to come back on a busier day (and better-staffed one) when you can do both sides. I still like it better than most* coasters at Kings Island, even when it's not racing. Cedar Creek Mine Ride - that's one coaster that could ditch the T-bars in favor of U-bars like on AE, Gemini, Magnum, etc. Otherwise an excellent day to visit CP, when you can do the major coasters without much of a wait! The Kings Island royal fountain may be more impressive, but the fountain in the main midway is still very beautiful, IMO. I think you would have enjoyed Corkscrew, it has a couple pops of air, but being 30 years old this year, not as smooth as it once was. Still, I try to ride it every time I take a trip to CP. The Demon Drop, you're not missing too much (see my signature), but if you go back there and it's open, try it once. Did you do the Sky Ride? IMO, a trip to Cedar Point is incomplete without a ride on this. A good gentle family friendly ride that more parks should have. Excellent trip report. Hopefully this is only the first of many CP trips for you. *ok, all of them.

  5. GhostRider opened in December 1998, over a year after Cedar Fair acquired Knott's Berry Farm. In addition, even though they've owned Michigan's Adventure for 5 years, Wolverine Wildcat and Shivering Timbers still lack (IMO unncecessary) headrests. With Geauga Lake, they've even had no problem with the Gerstlauer (Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs) and NAD (Big Dipper) trains, all minus the hearrests Now, I know that Beast and Racer had the headrests installed in the late 1980s, several years prior to the acquisition by Paramount, so I'm not calling for another crass way to remove traces of Paramount from KI. However, the headrests were originally holed, as the ones at Cedar Point still are, though they were covered and filled-in in 1993. I'm just saying that Cedar Fair isn't as crass about headrests as you might think. The company has four Arrow/Morgan hypercoasters thatdo fine without them. But it's not necessarily to say that the company will do away with existing ones, either.
  6. - Re-pave and redesign the parking lot. Do away with preferred and Gold Pass parking. Re-institute trams on busier days. - If they're going to replace Coke with Pepsi, lower the prices, preferably below $2 for bottles/regular size. - Son of Beast: Taer it down. I intentionally misspelled it. B&M coaster #1 could go here. - The dead area between Eiffel Tower, Italian Job (name will be changed, eventually), and along the pathways into Coney Mall and Rivertown could become a Camp Snoopy section. - Somewhere, build a new antique car ride. - Renovate Coney Mall, with 60's style lighting and graphics. - Promote other Cedar Fair parks, in clever ways. - Replace the trains on The Beast and The Racer. The new trains will not have headrests - see Michigan's Adventure's and Knott's wood coasters. Redesign The Racer's platforms, encourage racing, and have both sides running forward again. - Action Zone, IMO, makes Dorney Park look like it has award-wiining landscaping. Clean that area up!
  7. My tribute to the great Nick Parade: Suitable for all ages... http://ripnickparade.ytmnd.com/ ...except for those sad to see it go.
  8. The Great Wolf Lodge may be a few months from opening, but that statement NEVER gets old!
  9. Maybe Steve Jobs will be there for the ride's grand opening, to coincide with the release of Mac OS X Leopard.
  10. Good thing I caught the 5:30 performance of School of Rock today. I hadn't seen it at all this year, and only once last year. I'm not too surprised that School of Rock was going out the door after this year, but it's surprising that the Nick Parade is going bye-bye.
  11. Yeah, linking to a separate survey site that allows multiple questions would make more sense. Answering the original question, I'd like to do a catered picnic, if that option is available, at least once.
  12. Now, I'm not sure, but I'd guess that you could upgrade from a processed KI pass to a Maxx Pass. For adults, I would recommend getting the Maxx pass, if visiting Cedar Point for more than one day, as CP seems more of a two-day park, pass or no pass. However, since Senior and Junior admission is only $9.95 at CP, they should just get the KI only pass for $45 and buy day tickets for CP. If you ask me, the pass options look great. A pass for only $75 for those who only want one park, Kings Island - this is going to sell well, as it has before - paying for itself in less than 2 visits! For only 50 more, access to Cedar Point among 11 other parks. Personally, I'd like to wait and see what CP passes will be, but I can't complain too much as I love going to all three of Ohio's 3 big parks, and next year, I can do so with one pass!
  13. Good question. Someone got a reply from Canada's Wonderland (posted on Coasterbuzz), and they said that passes sold there won't be valid at other parks. Consider yourselves lucky.
  14. Looks like a Paramount phase-out to me. In the style of a 2006 pass, even with the filmstrip - but no Paramount logo or mention. However, being a "Cedar Fair" pass, you'd think they'd probably have Millennium Force in the third pane (where Volcano:TBC) is placed.
  15. Busch Gardens parks are quite possibly the best combination of world-class thrills and attention to detail theming. They can't go wrong with B&M.
  16. Can you buy your Cedar Fair Maxx Pass here?
  17. Dear PKIC Community: Related to my original reply in this post, I must apologize to anyone that I may have offended. I intened a humorous reply, that only resulted in a lot of complaints sent to the website, probably long after I pulled the link. Sincerely, Thomas E. Allen
  18. Yes, if you buy the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass, you get admission to ALL 12 Cedar Fair ride parks, including the "former" Paramount Parks. It doesn't include the Soak City or Oceans of Fun waterparks (separately gated). It DOES say that you get into Cedar Point AND Geauga Lake (including Wildwater Kingdom) with this pass.
  19. I've got some questions still, besides the pricing: - How will other Cedar Fair parks, including the former Paramount Parks, package their passes? - If Cedar Point decides to do their park only pass, with Joe Cool Club returning, and I think that's a better thing than gold at Kings Island, should I buy at CP, along with the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass option? - Can you get parking passes to multiple parks?
  20. I think, Shaggy, you made a long and well though-out post, as usual. The main ingredient to the success of the Paramount Parks, and its predecessor, Kings Entertainment, was definitely the people. However, the frustration doesn't really come with the people who ran the parks day-to-day, but rather, the parent company. It's sad to see hard-working experienced people lose their jobs, but Cedar Fair deciding to axe a lot of full-timers was inevitable. These people, like Weber, Fisher, Mandt, and the like, had to do more with less, IMO. Seems like past few years or so, it seemed Viacom, and obviously CBS, didn't put the necessary amount of investment into the parks that they could have. We've seen the trip reports, the low-capacity rides, and so on. Honestly, I was excitied that Kings Island was getting the Paramount name and movie-themed rides, and for most of the 1990s, truly put a lot of money and detail into things, from rides, to shows. As much as I liked the days prior to 1993, I felt initially that Paramount was taking Kings Island to the next level. Through this acquisition, I surely hope Cedar Fair learns two kinds of things: - Some of the good stuff from the Paramount Parks that would enhance Cedar Fair as a whole. - Learning from the mistakes that Premier Parks made after their acquisition of Six Flags in 1998. This I've probably said before: the focus and investments on children's characters, themes, and rides have been very successful for PKI and PP - but I have fears that they were getting too cocky eventually. Eventually, these children will become teenagers and will graduate to bigger thrill rides and coasters. Preferably new ones. And I mean "big" by B&M and Intamin. Therefore, of Point #1: have a great children's area, but don't forget what the kids want when they become teens. And Point #2: don't invest too much, too fast. Cedar Fair has taken a more conservative approach to its smaller parks - compared to Six Flags. Paramount made decent investments related to their parks, and I think Cedar Fair will invest appropriately. I.E. K.I. will likely get some more, rather than less. However, they can't throw their employees and their guests by the wayside like Six Flags did. The parks need to be clean and operated right, which I have seen at existing Cedar Fair parks.
  21. I saw the trains run through several times empty Thursday afternoon. Now the water dummies. Now, we can't conclude yet that they are definitely reopening SOB this season, because they are simply running tests as requested by the Dept. or Agriculture.

  23. Whats your problem with the interpreter, atleast his posts are relavant to the site and interesting, and usually are put up for a reason. CoastersnSich, was there any need to post to that website, being the fact that I am an African American and somewhat understand that joke, I dont mind it, but what about someone who hasnt heard of YTMND. Your link isnt relavant and has the potential to really offend someone. YTMND has the potential to offend everyone. To hopefully end any controversy, I have removed the link.
  24. Great park, I visited in 2004. But you call that Kidz Bop? Link Removed.
  25. Does Clermont Steel Fabricators also do the B&M coasters outside of the U.S. and North America? Besides Griffon at BGE, I'm baffled as to what other parks are getting B&M's in 2007.
