I guess by now, we should just start filming walk throughs to get to new rides when they first open, and then expect to see all themeing destroyed a few short years later.
-
If someone could take some pictures of the new themeing for the "Bat" coaster station, (aka Top Gun/Flight Deck), I would like to see how they changed it. I went through it when it first opened as Top Gun in 1993, and a few years after it opened, they already started gutting the themeing from the coaster station. Since then, it has been pretty much just an empty shell of what was supposed to look like an aircraft carrier.
-
I just noticed they changed "Flight Deck" to "Bat". I haven't been in the park to see this change, so could someone tell me if The Bat flies into an aircraft carrier or did they remodel the aircraft carrier to look like a bat cave? Also, the coasters should have been made all black, and with the same bat design on the front coaster as from the original bat coaster.

Let's try to meet in person first. Then those that can't make it in person, just let me know at that time, and we can arrange then to do something by mail. I live rather close to the park, and I figure most people here are going to visit the park eventually, so this would save everyone time and money. The stuff will be safe for a few months, so I can hold onto it till we all find a good time to meet. I know most people go out of town around fourth of July, but for those that will be in the area, that would be the best time to meet. That week before or after, anytime around then. Also, if we give this some time for others to see this topic, there might be other collectors willing to hand over their stuff to others as well, which may help some collectors complete their collections.

Here is the video. Visit the video page for the interactive menu to quickly jump through the video. Be sure to like the video, so I know how many people are interested in the coins and booklets. Also, if you have old retro Kings Island memorabilia stuff to share, make a video of it and title it "Kings Island Retro Tag" and add it to the conversation. Anything Kings Island from any previous Kings Island years is fine.

I just made a 52 minute video that shows all of these 2 (1986) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1988) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1991) KI Promotion Brochure / Advertising the monorail wild life, Flight Commander, and the introduction of Water Works 4 (1992) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1993) KI Park Guide/Map and the 160 coins/tokens in HD. The video will be uploaded in a few short hours. I'll post it as soon as it is up.

What was Winterfest like in 2005? What rides ran? Where could people walk? Was the Eiffel Tower working? What was the turn out like?
-
The last time I was at Winterfest at Kings Island was in 1992, and I'm sure that was the last year it ran. It's nothing like the Haunt. Meaning that most of the park will be blocked off, so you will only be allowed to walk around International Street, and a few other parts, and that's it, Even the Eiffel Tower will be shut down and off limits. Also, if any rides will be running, it will only be 1 to 3 at the most, being that they would have to be indoor rides or something that can operate in below freezing temperatures. They will always have ice skating on the International Street fountain, but even that will be limited when you actually see it for yourself. Keep in mind, that every time people cry for Winterfest, no one ever comes out to go to it. No attendees, no Winterfest! Also, there have been many times that the Haunt was closed early because of cold temperatures running all the guests off. If the people don't stay in the park, then the park simply doesn't stay open, not when temperatures get that cold and no one wants to be there.

1992 was their 20th Anniversary, and that was also the last year it was Kings Island before it became Paramount Kings Island. They made a very big deal about Hanna-Barbera Land, with Scooby Doo and Yogi Bear holding balloons while Fred Flintstone jumped in the air between them, with flags and graffiti in the air above them. The front of this park guide was also on t-shirts, balloons, and everything else. The new ride attraction for 1992 was Phantom Theater. It was in the same building that the Smurf Enchanted Voyage was in, but many years before The Smurf Enchanted Voyage, it was actually not Smurfs at all, it used to just be The Enchanted Voyage, showing many other Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. 1992 was also the last year that Kings Island had a Winterfest. It was so cold, there was almost no one there, and those that showed up, kept riding Phantom Theater just to feel the heat blow on them at the end of the ride where they open the furnace and blow hot air on you. Park Guides and Maps used to be separate. It wasn't until the mid 90's that they started to combine them. Before that, I think they sold the maps separately. The guides still have smaller maps in them, but they are more like blueprints just to show you were things are. The ones that were sold separately were huge foldouts that have the same kind of cartoon images that today's maps have now, so that style never changed. I used to have those older large foldout maps, but the problem with trying to save them was how they were all folded up rather than rolled up, but that's how they were in the park, all folded up. Over the years, the creases of the folded maps, made them tear, so eventually they just fell apart. They were completely white on the back, and they were poster material. So I don't have the older cartoon image maps, but I still have the smaller blue print maps that were in the old park guides. The first map of the water park is actually very funny, because there's almost nothing there, it's so small. I'll make a video of it and post it soon. Something that I miss about the good old days that we don't have anymore, is how people were more daring and more shocking when it came to entertainment, which I would guess it had to do with the internet not existing and so no one could see, hear, or tell others things in an instant, which I guess offered a sense of security for people. For example: I think it was in 1992, in what is now the Kings Island Theater, they had a show called "This Is Magic", and it was all men and women wearing only white full body leotards with nothing on underneath, dancing around in the dark with neon lights and black lights. Being in the dark with those lights, made their full body leotards vanish and you could see everything as if it was just naked men and naked women dancing on stage. Now that we have the internet, I don't think they would risk doing something like that now, as people are no longer that open minded or that artistically and creatively daring.

I just went through everything I have, and sadly I lost a lot of maps and other stuff, which is why I'm giving away what I still have, before I end up losing it all. Perhaps passing along what I have will keep it all around a little longer. Here is what I will be giving away. 160 (1980's) KI Arcade silver plastic coins (I think the last year they were in the park was in 1992) 2 (1986) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1988) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1991) KI Promotion Brochure / Advertising the monorail wild life, Flight Commander, and the introduction of Water Works 4 (1992) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (1993) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (2004) KI Fear Fest Newspaper Ad 1 (2008) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (2009) KI Associate Guide And Orientation Guide 1 (2010) KI Haunt Park Guide/Map w/ KI Haunt 3D Glasses 1 (2010) KI Live Entertainment Brochure 1 (2011) KI Park Guide/Map 1 (2011) KI Fall Park Guide/Map / Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs 2 (2011) KI Haunt 3D Glasses 1 (2012) KI Haunt Park Guide/Map 1 (2013) KI Fall Park Guide/Map / Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs 1 (2013) KI Haunt Park Guide/Map I don't have a season pass this year, so I'm not sure how to best distribute this material. Perhaps I could give it all to the owner of this forum or a moderator of this forum, and let them distribute it for me? Then perhaps everyone could have a day to get together in the park? Just so no one feels left out, I'll make a video later, showing the old maps and the coins, so everyone can enjoy some of the history, even if they don't get anything. I haven't seen anyone make a video yet showing the old park maps, and I've been wanting to do this for awhile. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any KI park guide/maps older than 1986?

I'm doing some spring cleaning, and I have to get rid of some stuff, so I finally decided I need to pass on these things that I have, but I would prefer to give them to collectors, to help build their collections. I have more than this, and some booklets that I have several of, so 1 person can get one of everything, and a few others can get 1 of what is left. I mostly collected booklets and coins, but I'm sure I have other stuff. I'll see what all I have. The coins, I seem to be the only person in existence with these coins. They were in the park until Paramount took over the park in the early 90's. I'll explain what they were and how they worked. This is all from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong or if I forgot something. You all know that game in the arcade where you try to make the coins fall over the edge? Well, instead of tickets, you used to actually get the coins, and then you could use the coins to play other games. Well, I always thought the gifts sucked, and I was more interested in getting and keeping the coins. Since they were used to play games, I might be the only one that collected them. In the 70's and 80's, all arcades used fake coins made from plastic for their arcade machines. That way, the owners could hire workers to empty the arcade machines without worrying the workers were going to pocket the money, because all they would be emptying would be fake coins made of plastic. To get the fake coins to play the arcade machine games, they would have to go to a coin machine and feed it either 1 dollar bills, 5 dollar bills, 10 dollar bills, or 20 dollar bills. For every dollar, a person got 4 arcade coins back. I think it was this way at Kings Island in the 70's and 80's, and very early 90's. Places that still do this, actually give you less coins for a dollar, unless you pay big bucks just to get a fair price. I haven't actually been to Kings Island for awhile now, and I can't remember exactly how their arcades operate now. Do they use real money now to play their arcade machine games? Also, should I give all the coins to one person, or one coin to each person that wants one until they are all gone, or would Kings Island want them to create a historical memorabilia display with them? It will be a week until I can get all this stuff together. Let me know if you are interested in getting this stuff to add to your retro Kings Island collection.

I see my 2nd post was removed. Anyway, thanks DontWantToWait42mar0 for showing it some love before it was removed. There was nothing hateful, rude, or bad posted. As you saw exactly what it said, now you know 100% for sure that there is in fact people behind the scenes working very hard to control everyone and to keep the public uneducated. However, every time they try to manipulate what people see and control the information that people have access to, the ones that see the truth first, join in on the intelligent quest to discover the truth in everything! Yes, I sold my passes this year, but if I can visit one more time, it will be this night for sure!

@CedarPointer Thanks for posting the screen shot. Since the only people that can renew a pass are those that already had one the previous year, this would still count as false advertising. If it doesn't apply to everyone, then it is false advertising!!! @Everyone Else, I never said who I was selling the last Pass to, I tell everyone it's first come, first serve, and I'm selling it to the first person that has the cash, but if someone says they'll buy it, I'll hold it for them till the day they say they'll buy it and if they don't, it's to the next person in line. Oddly enough though, a few people I work with thought the park was selling them at 6 payments of $15.00, and when all of them found out it was a lie, they were all very ****ed off. I have had more offers, but I don't make a post everytime I get an offer. Seems like most people are waiting till June.

Kings Island is currently running a false advertising campaign! On their main web site, they show a Gold Season Pass and say "Enjoy free parking, unlimited visits to Soak City, early ride times and more! As low as 6 payments of $15.00, Prices Go Up And Gold Goes Away May 27th" So I click on the "BUY NOW" link to see what it does, and it shows 5 purchase options! 1. Regular Season Pass ------------------------ 6 payments of $16.25 2. Regular Season Pass (4 or more) --------- 6 payments of $16.00 3. Gold Season Pass ---------------------------- 6 payments of $17.50 4. Gold Season Pass (4 or more) ------------- 6 payments of $16.75 5. Platinum Season Pass ----------------------- 6 payments of $29.00 None of these purchase options are 6 payments of $15.00, so this is false advertising!!!!!! Anyway, Gold goes away soon, so if no one buys my last Gold pass by May 27th, then I'll have to raise the price that I'm selling it for.

The person at work that wanted to buy the pass for their son, didn't have the money. I tried contacting, DontWantToWait42mar0, to see if they still wanted to buy the last pass, but it's been about 12 hours and haven't got a reply yet. Anyone want the last Gold Season Pass? $75.00 PM me A.S.A.P.

It was a perfect day for riding rides... the sky was covered with clouds, and there was a cool breeze. But yeah, starting in june I'll be doing 7 day work weeks till around October, so I'll get passes for next year though for sure. There's another person at my work place that wanted the last pass I have, for her son. I told her last Friday I would sell it to her if she had the money. She told me last night she'll have the money either tonight or Tuesday. If she doesn't buy it from me this week though, I'll sell it to you Friday. I'm off work Friday and should be free anytime. The other person at my work place that wanted to buy all three passes, never had the money for them, so I had to skip them.

Forum Isn't Working Right, It Has Bugs!
selective replied to selective's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
The skin change fixed it....... It could have been my browser, I use FireFox and seems most script problems are related to FireFox. I did really like that skin though, shame it was messing with the buttons. -

Buttons seem to be linked to wrong things! My drop down menu isn't working and it's linked to "view forum" which is the button under it. My sign out button also doesn't work and is also linked to "view forum". When I logged in, the front page log in wasn't linked to the log in page either, and I had to use the other log in link to get in. Why are buttons all screwy now? Did someone mess with something? ?????????????? -
Kings Island used to have a problem with employees selling their free ticket's, and then when they did their Haunt Promotions for giving out a free ticket when buying a season pass for the next year, lots of people had their free tickets stolen from them by friends and family members offering to buy their season passes for them. Kings Island fixed those problems though by limiting and restricting free tickets for employees, and by making the season pass itself the free ticket during the Haunt promotions for buying a next year season pass. Something new Kings Island is doing now is printing tickets on receipt paper! Though this will save the company thousands of dollars, I can see it causing many problems for them because receipts are easy to lose or throw away by accident, and even if saving them, the ink fades and rubs off too easily, and if they get wet then they are gone!

@Rumor Smasher Sorry you live so far away. I'm not doing this long distance. There are thousands of people down the street from Kings Island, and I posted on other sites also, if I don't find anyone on here, I'll find someone from another site or some place else. @Browntggrr I don't think they'll let me do that. I will check on it though and if I can do that, then I will. I'll find out and let everyone know what they say. Thanks.

I updated the original post again to answer everyone's posts. Read it again, and it should be clearer. BTW, there are no names attached to these passes.
