  1. Why thank you, Snoopy. I'd love to share a cookie with you! lol, they should have put this bench by the Planet Snoopy Grill, because it's the only place in Planet Snoopy that sells cookies. Instead this is across from the Snow Cones stand which is by the bumper cars. Or they should have an advertisement behind the bench advertising cookies at the Planet Snoopy Grill.
  2. I'm going back to the park in a few days, I'll find out. I'm sure the onion rings are made on the spot though, as with the fries at potato works and other places. I'll see if they use Vegetable Oil.
  3. I'm sure the bacon in the green beans isn't artificial bacon! ------------------------------ GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!! Juke Box Diner which was originally known for burgers only, is now serving ONION RINGS!!!! OMG The park years ago used to sell their world famous Giant Size ONION RINGS where Chick-Fil-A stands now, and I was so mad when I saw the world famous giant size Onion Rings leave the park. So now the park got Onion Rings back, this is so exciting They go great with milk shakes also.
  4. I'm researching The Beast to see when or if it was rebuilt. I know it opened in 1979 as the longest wooden coaster, but I grew up before the internet existed and it's always been a known fact handed down over the years that it originally opened a few years earlier and was not the longest so it had the second lift hill added to make it the longest. More than one person has told me they remember riding it before 1979, and have told me the same thing about how the trains used to go right into the station without the second lift hill being there. Since it's now known as the longest, this information (if true) seems to have either been forgotten or not mentioned for a reason. The internet itself is new, so when the information was being put on the net, it could have been left out. I'm looking into it. I guess I could be wrong. Not sure... I'm still looking into it... Edit: Sorry... I was wrong..... It was all built in 1979! WOW, I love the internet. Before the internet, you had to go by word of mouth, very bad info indeed to have to go by what others say without any proof or evidence.
  5. Coasters didn't really exist at KI for a long time... The only options for many years were just Woodstock Express, The Racer, The Beast, and The Vortex! Just these four to chose from for being a first time rider wasn't to encouraging. Now kids have these additional coasters to get them started like... The Great Pumpkin, Flying Ace, Adventure Express, Back Lot Stunt Coaster, Flight Deck and even more big ones such as Firehawk, Flight of Fear, and Diamondback It is nice to see roller coasters finally in the family rides list, because they were never there before for a very long time. Now roller coasters appeal more to a larger audience and there's one for everyone to enjoy.
  6. Seeing how this ride is so far away from everything, it's a shame it doesn't last long. ------- The Beast was extended with a second lift hill years after it was first made, so why not do the same with another coaster? Edit: Sorry... I was wrong..... The Beast was all built in 1979! WOW, I love the internet. Before the internet, you had to go by word of mouth, very bad info indeed to have to go by what others say without any proof or evidence. ------- Just my thoughts, and I'm curious if others think the same.
  7. Don't Eat The Green Beans!!! The Green Beans at Rivertown Junction Dining Hall & Outer Hanks Shrimp Shack are mixed with Bacon Bits ----- I just converted the menu to a web page for easier browsing, and copying I'm adding all the new food info now, I think I missed two places though so I'll have to make another visit to the park to completely finish the new menu. Also, I still need a few more pics. I forgot to get a pic of the place by The Vortex and of the new pub in Boomerang Bay.
  8. I forgot Boomerang Bay isn't open yet. It wasn't that cold out really. And I don't thrive on negativity, as I did state all the rides that ran good with great employee crews from my experience. Any employees reading this that work on the rides I gave positive feedback about should be proud. Also, giving positive feedback about 9 rides and negative feedback about 4 rides, how does this make me a negative person? And that construction area says nothing about when it will be finished on the signs posted in the park, it just said coming soon. If it was listed here in the forums, sorry I missed it, but I hadn't been on this forum for a month and just found out at the park in a very rude (this area is blocked off) kind of way, and why is there no mention of it on visitkingsisland.com then under show listings? This was the first place I looked! BTW, next time I ride Firehawk, it'll be the first ride early in the morning when I can ride it with no waiting, because there's no way I'm going to stand in a line all day for Firehawk when it's employee crew doesn't know how to communicate with the park guests to fill every seat and get the people through the lines quicker. However, the extremely long delays to get the trains on the track, the broken seat I sat next to during my ride, and the people that got stuck on the ride for 20 minutes, all make me question just how safe this ride really is. Then again, perhaps it was never a mechanical error. Perhaps it was just new employees. I don't know. I'll just end this post by saying I'll keep looking for more topics about Firehawk to see if it gets better or worse. I know it was my fault I lost my cell phone, but my review of this ride is not based on this at all. It was based on everything else. In a way, if I didn't lose my cell phone, I wouldn't have went back to find people had been stuck on the ride for about 20 minutes, so in a way it helped me give a better review of the ride.
  9. I got to the park at 10:00 am and it closes two hours early (at 8:00 PM) so I'm off to see how much I can do before the park closes! Kings Island promises you can do everything in one day or else they will stop selling one day tickets and include a second day with all ticket admissions!!! Really? Well, this is what KI has always claimed, but they do offer two day tickets now for the price of one day at all Kroger locations so if you don't have a season pass, know that one day is not enough and you'll be luck to ride half the rides in just one day so get the two day ticket for the same price! -------------------------------------- First rode Boo Blasters... for the most part, the front of the building stayed the same from the Scooby ride. The only part of the entrance I noticed changed was the name. Got in the building and was very disappointed with the stripped waiting lobby that used to be filled with animatronics. The hall you then go into from there was alright as it was very dark. Got on the ride AND IT WAS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAIL. 1. The targets were too small 2. I couldn't tell if I hit a target or not 3. The guns were too loud and I found the gun sounds extremely annoying 4. The art work was like looking at walls with graffiti, dull and lifeless 5. The robotics hardly moved at all. 6. Either not enough fluorescent paint was used or it wasn't done right because NOTHING WAS IN 3-D (and I paid $1.00 for the glasses) The only good part about the whole ride was the hologram you move through. If they would have just done that effect for the entire ride, it would be worth riding. Boo Blasters on Boo Hill Game Play = 0 3-D = 0 Fun = 0 Over All Rating = 0 Will I ride it again? Not till it's demolished and made into something worth riding. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Then rode The Crypt, and I had only rode it one time before in 2006 with it's original theming. I was expecting it to be different, NOT STIPPED BARE!!! WTF! It used to look like a real cave, had sound effects, lighting effects, water effects, and more. This time, I could see a grey concrete floor and the four walls of the empty ware house. it lifted us up, rolled us around a few times, only rolling us upside down for a few seconds twice, and it never held us face down or upside down like it used to. The fear factor with this ride was being held face down or upside down, and with water shooting at you while not being able to tell where you are or how high. Since all this has been removed from the ride, it's now a children's ride with no fear factor at all. The Crypt Fun = 5 Fear = 1 Ride Time = 3 Over All Rating = 4 Will I ride it again? All the time, but it would be more fun if it could scare me like it did before it was stripped bare. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Then rode Diamondback, and The Beast. These rides were great and the employees kept the lines moving while keeping excellent communication with park guests. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Then rode Backlot Stunt Coaster, which looked very ugly without any of the car decals on the carts and with no doors, no side mirrors, and all same color matching cars on all three trains! The ride itself was fun and only missing the water effects. Backlot Stunt Coaster Fun = 10 Look and Feel of Cars = 0 Over All Rating = 6 ----------------------------------------------------------- Then rode Action Theater, The Vortex, and The Racer. These rides were great and the employees kept the lines moving while keeping excellent communication with park guests. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Then I got in line for Firehawk. The wait was about 90 minutes or more. As the line slowly crawled, I noticed after a train entered into the station, it would take about 15 minutes before the second train would leave. Once I got to the station, It became apparent they were not filling every seat. Each train has 6 rows of seats, 4 seats in each row. This is 24 people per ride! Only they were letting trains out of the station with at least 6 empty seats every time and about half of the rides were as many as 10 empty seats per train. The employees seemed very confused, as to telling people were to go (the waiting areas next to the trains in the station are not marked or numbered), and when they could have spoken up to ask the waiting crowd for single riders, pairs, and groups that could have filled those empty seats, they instead would look down or away from the crowd without talking to any park guests and appeared to never make eye contact. The employee seperating people for the trains never communicated with the employees placing people on the trains and vice versa. They should of had walkie talkies to keep constant comunication. If they did have them, they never used them! Then when I got to my seat, I found the seat next to me was broken and wraped in red saying something like (DO NOT USE)! To make things worse, I forgot to put my cell phone in my zip pockect so when the seat leaned me back it fell out of my pocket and I lost my cell phone. Then when I told one of the employees working on the ride at the station, I was handed a lost form to fill out. They then told me to be at the ride after 8pm and before 8:30pm, that they would look for it after the ride was closed and if they found it and I was not there to claim it, they would throw it away. So I showed up at 8pm, and when I got there, there was still a very long line of people that made it into line before 8pm, while there was a train full of people stuck on the ride for about 20 minutes while they waited for mechanics to come and fix it. The mechanics fixed it quick but there responce time was rediculis. They must have not been in the park or walked all the way there from who knows where. By the time they arrived, about 15 park managment people were already there on the scene. As I waited for all the riders to leave, the last riders got off the ride at about 8:45pm. At that time security came by and said everyone had to leave, so I went to Lost and Found at the front gate. They then told me it would be another hour or longer before they would hear anything from the Firehawk crew about my cell phone. So I filled out a second Lost form and left my email address. Just now looking at Firehawk on the internet, I just noticed Firehawk was not new in 2007, but relocated in 2007 to Kings Island. Firehawk Fun = 10 Operators Safty Checks = 10 Communication With Park Guests = 0 Keeping The Line Moving = 2 Over All Rating = 4 ----------------------------------------------------------- After that I rode Flight of Fear, Adventure Express, Drop Tower, and Flight Deck. The rides were great and the employees kept the lines moving while keeping excellent communication with park guests. ---------------------------------------------------------- Oh.... and there's construction going on in the middle of the park so no more cutting through from any one side to the other any more! It's all blocked off for something called "The Snoopy Spotlight Spectacular" which isn't built yet and looks like construction just started. Cedar Fair does know construction is supposed to be done in the off season, right? I hope this doesn't turn out being blocked off all summer. I'll be even more ****ed if it stays block off all summer and I don't see any progress being made. ----------------------------------------------------- As the night came to an end, I realized all the rides I didn't have time to ride! Race For Your Life Charlie Brown aka Log Flume Flying Ace Aerial Chase Miami Valley Railroad White Water Canyon Shake, Rattle, & Roll Zephyr Monster Scabler Dodgem Grand Carousel Viking Fury Congo Falls ...........and others not to mention I never got to see any shows, or to visit Boomerang Bay but I have a season pass, so I'll be back.
  10. Looking for other Vegetarians

  11. I'm looking at the shape of the flying eagles.... and though my pic shows it at an angle... you can tell it's not as long as the ones at CW the pic here from the photo album does look like my pic http://KICentral.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=98&pos=3 but the one from CW (the most recent pic) posted above.... to me it looks longer and looks like a different shape. IDK, maybe it's just me.... I guess it could be the same.... My Apologies if I'm wrong.... but to me they do look different in tail shape, and cart size.
  12. CW Flying Eagles KI Flying Eagles These do not look the same! If they were moved to CW, CW probably ditched them and got better ones.
  13. Browntggrr, Thanks for posting the link, I corrected my facts and apologized for my misinformation on the Flight Commander safety inspection. If I remember correctly, They inspected it more than once and this might have been how I got the information mixed up. Thanks again for clearing this up. ...and yes... the rumors do seem laughable now, but it is what most thought at the time cause how often do deaths happen at the park? Almost never! But that night, two different places at about the same time, what are the odds?
  14. the lake: The light shorting out could not be explained, cause it was new and checked... about a day before the incident. the ride: Being intoxicated and slipping out of the seat doesn't explain how it happened. The ride was checked and inspected after the incident and it was found safe with no possible way to fall out, and no sign of any malfunction. When Paramount was told they could reopen the ride, they decided to toss it in respect for the girl and her family. --------- EDIT: I was wrong about the ride being checked. It did have a design flaw. When only one rider, the rider would slide and could fall out. It was a design flaw! Sorry...
  15. Which of the two Rumors? Doesn't matter.... All the facts are true, and that is the lake. The reason I say the facts are true is: 1. I was there that day and watched it all on the news when I got home. 2. I knew many employees in management positions that shared a lot with me. 3. The guy that almost died in the lake was a friend of my family that saw him in the hospital It really is a small world we live in.....................................
  16. I wasn't going to say anything, but since it's been asked. Here's the story. Note: The story contains Facts and Rumors, so I'll mention which is which as I tell it. Fact: After Adventure Express was put in, Paramount wanted to buy the park. Fact: Paramount owns the rights to Indiana Jones. Rumor: Because Indiana Jones music was played while waiting for the ride, many thought Paramount was trying to sue or blackmail for ownership of the park. Fact: Not long after Adventure Express was put in, 3 people were declared dead in the park on the same day at the same time, their causes of death were listed as accidents. Fact: (for what happened at the lake and at Flight Commander) http://www.KICentral...p?showtopic=817 Rumor: At the time most suspected Paramount rigged the park that day, cause deaths don't normally happen in the park and what are the odds that two separate incidents involving accidental deaths would happen on the same day at about the same time? Then immediately after it all happened the deal was made and Paramount took over. Edit: These deaths as well as all other previous deaths in the park had also been Alcohol related, so Paramount tried removing Alcohol from the park, but people demanded their Alcohol so Alcohol was brought back to the park. 4/9/2010 I updated the facts on this post
  17. A little park history, told in old photographs Hey, I had to scan these, they were not digital... hahaha I hope you enjoy these..... Amazingly enough, I found a pic of the Smurf's Enchanted Voyage. I had others but they vanished. Take your time looking at these, and enjoy. Kings Island - King Cobra (Skylab can be seen next to Adventure Express) I did ride this several times, and most people complained of the ride being too jerky and causing them to rattle their head on the restraints. Even though it was the first stand-up coaster to do a loop, it was simply to small and too short of a ride so I was glad to see it go. I wouldn't mind a bigger, longer, and better stand up in the future though. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Monorail - Wildlife Preserve Note: The Lions were too far away to get a pic of them, so I never tried. There were many reasons why they got rid of the animals, and I agree with all of them. However, I think most will agree with me that the monorail didn't have to go, it could have been used for parking lot transportation or to replace the train that takes people to Boomerang Bay. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Coney Mall - Flying Eagles These I never tried but just by watching people and hearing what people said after riding, they were very difficult to control and not much fun. It looks like other parks that have this ride have a better design for flight, being smaller, longer, and lighter. The design in this picture shows the wing design isn't long enough and the cart overall looks too heavy. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Coney Mall - Flight Commander This ride I never tried either. Here's how it worked. You get in, it lifts up and travels in a slow cirlce (not that fast at all), then you have a joystick to make yourself go higher or lower, roll to the right or left in a full circle (stopping while upside down if you want), but the draw back was you were always traveling forward in the same circle and always at the same speed. I was in the park the day this got shut down. I never leave the park early, NEVER, but I got a really bad feeling this day and left around 4pm, I'm glad I did. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Antique Car Ride These were cool and fun, but they did use gas and have to be fixed like real cars with engine problems. I remember always seeing a line of broken down cars they kept off the road that were in need of repair, and while driving these you could smell the gas. Just imagine living in the 1920's! Would you have ever imagined a real car from your time period would be used as a ride where kids can drive? These are real cars, but they felt more like golf carts. Simply a moment captured in time, and will never be forgotten. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Hanna Barbera Land - Flinstones Ride - Boulder Bumpers ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Hanna Barbera Land - Jetsons' Ride - Jetsons' Spaceport ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Hanna Barbera Land - Smurfs Ride - Smurfs Enchanted Voyage This was the winter set up they had for Christmas. Later it became this... Kings Island - Phantom Theater This rabbit head looked cool in the dark with glowing red eyes. The evil mouse bear would move up and down, and it looked and sounded really cool. A heater blew hot heat on you here, so most would ride this ride after a water ride to get a blast of heat on them. It was too quick though for drying off. ---------------------------------------------- Kings Island - Water Works (now known as Boomerang Bay) This was the first year it opened, and there was nothing on the other side of this hill to the right, so park guests would sneak to the other side of the hill to make out. Well, these are all the pics I could find of things that are now gone, from the old days. Hahaha, I'm not that old, trust me. Feel free to copy these pics, I uploaded them so they can be used. I would like to see the monorail pics in the KIC photo album. (I can upload higher quality photo scans if you want them, just ask)
  18. I was just looking to see what Action Theater will be. It should be listed as a ride, but isn't. And it is a ride because Kings Island keeps a ride count for it, and they don't do this for shows. On their map though, it's listed as a show, but then under their shows, it's not listed at all. I remember this being closed the last few times I wanted to ride it. I don't care what they play in it, it's just fun and should never be closed. I really hope this will be running, it's usually the first thing I like to visit in the park. Also................. The map has Festhaus listed only for food, and not as a show. This needs to be fixed. It's also a show!
  19. They did add a menu. Ill be checking out the new pretzel shop on opening day. That's not a menu! It's just a list of places to eat at with a highlight of what they are known for. This is nice for someone just browsing, but not so great for people that want exact information.
  20. It looks like they decided not to do a menu at all on the new web site design. So I'll need a few weeks after April 17th to find out what has all changed and to update this menu. but yeah.... much more food choices this year than last year, I think... so this is good.
  21. CoastersRZ When I said they collect electricity and store it, I was explaining how the entire solar system works when fully rigged together. It's like saying a car rolls. Does a car really roll? No, the wheels do, but we both know what I mean. Thanks for finding that pic, I had one somewhere but couldn't find it. There are many other ways they can be designed for parking lots also. True the coast is high, but not if you are the one making them. I think a small group of us should get together some time and work on a small test project to see what we can come up with.
  22. I'm glad to see they are now recycling. Kings Island has always been known for throwing away truck loads of good plastic, cardboard, and paper (BEHIND THE SCENES) just from the employees alone as they prepare things to be sold in the park. I personally think any employees or management not doing their part to contribute to the recycling should be penalized or terminated as a way to enforce this. Believe it or not, some businesses do pretend to recycle just to build up the self confidence of their employees and to earn the trust of their customers, only to toss it all in the trash when no one is looking. Then there's also the problem of having too much to recycle with not enough trucks to pick it all up so the excess goes into the trash anyway. If Kings Island is serious about this, which I hope and think they are, then they'll stick with this to make it work and fix any problems they may have with it along the way.
  23. well.... the copy and paste was harder than it sounds. The way the menu items are on their web site, the copy and paste feature messed it all up in "MS Word", and then they just had everything thrown in a list so I had to organize everything to make it easy for the eye to see. I didn't have to type any words, but for the most part I ended up copying and pasting word by word.
