Do Not Give Out Free Things
malem replied to TTD-120-420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ The issue is that you're speaking as if you know he committed the alleged crime, when at this point he has only been charged. Defendants in ongoing criminal matters are presumed innocent. The worker allegedly gave away parking passes that he was not authorized to. A penalty will be carried out if he is found guilty of a crime. (Or if he pleads guilty.) Each criminal case is unique. Guilt in one case does not imply guilt in a completely unrelated case. The specific crime(s) (if any) he is guilty of have yet to be determined. -
Thanks for the photos! It's interesting to see Banshee's emerging effect on the skyline from multiple angles. Invertigo is complementing it well. It will be nice to get an overhead perspective at the December meetup, from one of the balconies at GWL.

What ride would you remove from Kings Island?
malem replied to GamesAndRides's topic in Kings Island
At some point, rides that people love will have to be removed. Machines don't last forever, and building for the future sometimes means building over the past. Even Banshee is presumably designed with a finite functional lifetime. Luckily, no rides seem likely to leave in the foreseeable future. The Bat has many years ahead of it, and Vortex is still running well - and remaining popular - after 27 seasons. Hopefully The Racer and The Beast remain as long as there's a Kings Island. -
^ You could always text your brother.

What ride would you remove from Kings Island?

Have you handed in your Kings Island fan card yet? I agree with you on Backlot. No need to insult me on my idea. No insults, just noting that removing one of the park's most beloved rides would not be a popular decision around here. It's still a great ride with excellent capacity that's very popular. Not to mention that a giga would be much too extreme for many of the customers AE serves. There are other ways to access that plot of land, should the park need to use it in the foreseeable future. What's wrong with the new wavepool? It added much-needed capacity and didn't require the removal of any attractions. -
What ride would you remove from Kings Island?
malem replied to GamesAndRides's topic in Kings Island
I'd move Backlot Stunt Coaster to a smaller park. It has a low capacity, the launch into the helix is too intense for a "family" coaster, and it's an eyesore compared to what it replaced. You'd remove the second biggest people eater after Banshee? You must like long lines at Beast and Vortex. Besides, there's more that can make a ride entertaining than just forcefulness. Even if you personally can't enjoy the coaster, perhaps you could catch up on your reading? Have you handed in your Kings Island fan card yet?- 79 replies

Your base premium may have stayed the same since it wasn't your fault, but filing a claim probably cost you discounts you had accumulated. This is one reason why it's good to buy un(der)insured motorist coverage, so you don't have to file a claim with your own collision policy (if any). I've had several close calls with bad drivers pulling out in front of me or almost hitting me. My one and only collision happened when someone rear ended me at low speed, causing minor damage to my rear bumper. The other driver had insurance, and the claim to fix my bumper was paid quickly.

^ I was texting our location to the number I had for you (presumably your mom's number?), but I guess you didn't get the messages. I stayed with the group most of the day, though I separated for about 30 minutes to walk onto some rides by myself. Hanging out with a group of Kings Island's biggest fans is a great way to experience the park.

^ It's really easy to fix, and it will prevent you from mentally subtracting hours from now until March. Kings Island certainly has a nice collection of first drops.

Over Vortex and The Bat?

^^ I think that a "signature" slide complex is much more likely as the next waterpark addition. The park is missing one, capacity could be better than a water coaster, variable staffing is an option, and Cedar Fair has been adding them lately. It would also be big and flashy, drawing guests into the park. I would really like a water coaster, though, if you couldn't tell from my avatar. (Even though I don't often do waterparks.)

^ It's very unlikely that media day will require any fee, beyond presenting a recognized paid coaster club membership or other invitation. Don told us in June to keep the weekend before the Super Bowl (January 25-26) open, so it seems likely that there will be an offseason tour. This is far from certain, and a fee may or may not be required. There would be sufficient advance notice, and you'd almost certainly need to RSVP. Keep an eye on the forum so you don't miss out! After the park opens for the season, we were told that the park will host an enthusiast event to coincide with the debut of Banshee. This would be open to both members of this site and members of recognized coaster clubs. A fee beyond park admission may or may not be required. There's also discussion about an unofficial holiday party/meetup in December, likely at Great Wolf Lodge. See http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28479-kic-holiday-partymeetupbash (Reservations for this would need to be completed very soon.)

There's no promo code to do that, but Guest Services may be able to help you next season. In prior years, they have allowed one to "upgrade" an unused season pass from the prior year to be valid for the current season instead. This would cost less than a renewal. If you would like to ask the park about the current policy, you can contact them here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/contact-us Be aware that they might not be able to give you an answer until some point closer to the 2014 season. Tomorrow (10/31) is the last day to get the lowest price on new and renewed 2014 season passes.

^ Most were working. The right arm of one of the drummers on the left side of the track was motionless on my last two visits (10/4 and 10/27).

... if thou art knott restoring (and optionally expanding) broken effects and theming. I'm really glad that The Bat/Flight Deck/Top Gun is getting positive attention, a new (old) name, and a much-needed refresh. Very good to know that it's not leaving any time soon. But I still think I'm going to have a hard time calling it "The Bat".

^ Were gate associates confused upon seeing someone without a picture named "---" trying to get in?
-
Glad you finally found the group! You would have met Terp had you stuck around for about 60 more seconds. When I tried to introduce you, you had vanished! I was impressed that you knew us by name despite not having met us yet. I'm bad enough with names of people I've actually met!

Ditto for me; there's no better way to end the season. Were you dodging photos on purpose (a la TheCrypt), or did everyone just miss you?
-
^ In that case, it was processed. Had you left with a receipt paper ticket issued at a ticket window, it would not have been processed.
-
The free entry on a new pass is tied to the pass (or voucher, if it's not processed). There's no separate ticket that you can give to someone else. EDIT: meant to edit, not double post. Oops.
-
^ This year, 6:00pm is the cutoff for re-entry. You won't be able to get in after that point with a handstamp or with a pass that's already been scanned that day. You won't get a free entry for renewing your pass; that is an offer only for new 2014 passes. If you are not back before 6:00pm, you have three choices: Purchase an admission ticket Purchase a new (not renewed) 2014 gold or platinum season pass and use your one free admission. You'll have to return in the spring to process it. Not re-enter the park

^ I'm sure there will be at least one person in the group who would be glad to have a second, even though it would mean carrying both.
