  1. The glitches are due to the version of the IPB forum software we're using (version 3). When we upgrade (back) to version 4, the non-Tapatalk mobile interface will be much better. I haven't found the issues to be too annoying; zooming in & out fixes mobile input issues for me. If CKEditor (rich text editor with formatting buttons) is enabled on the forum in your mobile browser, press the BBCode button (light switch) to change to plain text input. On Android, you might try using Mobile Firefox instead of the default Chrome browser.
  2. I posted that a few years ago; the original source was a detailed PDF map of the park from visitkingsisland.com that no longer exists on the site.
  3. Banshee would get my vote. Always fun to ride & a great use of the terrain. I give it bonus points for how much it has improved Action Zone.
  4. Welcome to Carowinds! Probably my biggest shock if Carowinds was seeing they had water fountains in the ques. See also pull-handle showers on the midway at Carowinds. We typically don't have as many days with extreme heat as the southeast does.
  5. ^ Being tall, my head stays above the OTSR, so I don't have to do anything special to avoid headbanging.
  6. Mystic Timber's airtime should put it firmly in the "thrill ride" category, though its 48" height requirement will make it accessible to more of the family than Diamondback or Banshee.
  7. That is correct; the public key encryption used by those types of connections prevents a third party from injecting ads or otherwise changing the page. More & more websites these days are using https, limiting the impact of injected ads. Rolling out park-wide wifi was expensive; allowing their vendor to turn on this "feature" would be offsetting that cost.
  8. And standing in close quarters with those same people for as much as a half hour or more while waiting in line doesn't? Somewhere, a Terp is likely pondering baths with 2o,ooo people.
  9. I didn't visit waterparks very often this season, but I made it to KI's Soak City twice. Tropical Plunge's Aqua Launch slides, though fun, were rough on my back at their initial opening in May. They were reportedly smoother later in the season, but I didn't get to try as they were down for maintenance on my second visit. To be safe, since rash guards are allowed, I'll probably invest in one before I visit next season. The passholder preview Saturday was probably my favorite visit ever to Soak City, thanks to a practically empty (yet operational) park & water that had yet to see thousands of swimmers. With an air temperature of 57°, ohiocolts & aandjgoods were the only other KIC members crazy enough to do the slides, though a whole group showed up to laugh at us.
  10. The water for WWC is treated with chlorine, but to a lesser extent than water in a swimming pool or water slide would be. ^^ The reservoir was originally a natural lake, but I doubt that the parking lot drains into it. If it did, as you said, they'd need to do it in a way that contaminants were removed. Runoff from streets & parking lots isn't pleasant.
  11. Even if Mean Streak's replacement is opening in 2017, at this point I wouldn't expect an announcement until at least January. IAAPA is happening now, then we're basically in the holiday season.
  12. My only improvement would be more shading. Getting sunburned while standing in an open queue is no fun at all. (Looking at you, Firehawk.) In the interest of shorter wait times, I wouldn't want queues to be too comfortable.
  13. I wholeheartedly agree about Backlot's unfortunate placement, but it's a fun ride that seems unlikely to leave anytime soon. For reference, we have other threads for speculating on which rides will be removed & when. Here's the most recent: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/32121-which-ride-will-leave-next/
  14. Agreement reached; strike over. http://www.toledoblade.com/business/2016/11/09/Ceda-Point-union-ends-strike-gets-new-deal-from-park.html
  15. Now that's a detailed trip report! It's always nice to read about friendships formed through KIC; glad that you and Daniel have connected so well. Sorry about abandoning you at Banshee's station! I think I suggested that everyone else start walking to Beast around 12:48 to make the last train at a reasonable walking pace - knowing that a few of us could go much faster. I left as late as I could to make it by speed walking, which left you sprinting through the foggy park by yourself. We were all really worried that you'd miss the train!
  16. Promo code discovergold is still available for Discover cardholders. In St. Louis, it's $55 (plus significant sales tax & processing fees) for one or more passes that are gold if processed by Dec 31. Those without a Discover credit card might be able to find Discover gift cards for purchase.
  17. More from the Sandusky Register, including a statement from the park claiming that the strike may be unlawful. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Business/2016/11/07/Cedar-Point-says-strike-is-unlawful-Strike-is-likely.html
  18. ^ The picket line itself could be an issue in the case of construction workers, if getting to the jobsite would require crossing it. Hopefully the sides reach a resolution soon so that everyone can get back to work.
  19. Notably, with a picket line in place, work has stopped on the Hotel Breakers addition. No word on RMC work at the Mean Streak site.
  20. I didn't measure, but Boss's queue feels longer with the way it wraps around. Not to mention that re-riding requires walking all the way out to the front.
  21. Off-season? I'm still in denial for another week.
  22. Here's an old thread that's worth a read. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/7495-music-in-the-the-park/
  23. KI played instrumental music on International Street during Christmas in July this past summer. Since some of the songs weren't identifiable as Christmas music, it almost felt like old times. One of my favorite parts about visiting Kings Dominion last summer was majestic music still playing on International Street. The atmosphere there reminded me a lot of KI in the 90s.
  24. EPR Properties, a REIT that invests in entertainment & recreation centers, has acquired the assets of CNL Lifestyle Properties. Notably, Darien Lake & Wet n Wild Palm Springs (formerly owned by Cedar Fair as Knott's Soak City Palm Springs) are included in the acquisition. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/news/2016/11/darien_lake_sold_western_ny_location_included_in_theme_park_deal_report_says.html SEC Filing: http://www.getfilings.com/sec-filings/161103/EPR-PROPERTIES_8-K/
