Cedar Point is hosting an announcement event from 6pm-8pm in Soak City for 2016 season passholders only. There will be one-time-only "deals" on 2017 platinum passes. (RSVP required)

It seems that someone removed silver2005's "Lack of Moderation on KICentral" thread. Some long-standing members have real frustrations they'd like to discuss, so having that thread back would be very much appreciated. This site has a tradition of embracing criticism (of the park, of the site, and of each other's posts) rather than hiding it, as this makes us all better.

It's great that they were apparently proactive here. Treating the water after such contamination requires time.

Cleared items go to Lost & Found. There is no fee* to claim your own property from there, regardless of whether it was found in an expired locker. *There is a fee for shipping & processing if you use the vendor-supplied lost & found web service (ChargerBack®).

You choose a duration upon rental, and your payment card is authorized for that amount. If you arrive late, the system will require you to extend your rental before the door will open. Extending the rental wouldn't work on a card that lacked sufficient funds to do so.

There are many alternate histories that are fun to think about. What would Kings Island look like had Busch Gardens opened in Columbus, OH instead of Williamsburg? Had Anheuser-Busch purchased Geauga Lake in 2001, where would the Vekoma Flying Dutchman now at KI have gone? Where would it be now? Would there be a park in Aurora? What if Cedar Fair had acquired Kings Island in 2000? Would we have Phantom Theater? Would we have a dark ride at all? What would the headlining attraction in Action Zone be now?

My birthday falls on National Roller Coaster Day, which might explain some things. So, spending the whole day at KI probably won't possible. I might come just for the evening & ERT, assuming it's possible to check in late for the event.

On the subject of ice cream flavors & food coloring: the Banshee Twist contained copious amounts of food dye - enough for some customers to notice later, when nature took its course. Fun for awhile, but I'm glad to see that it's done. On that note, I wonder what Mystic food/drink creations the park will unveil in 2017?

In the fall, the difference in price between CP Regular and Platinum has been ~$60. If you'll use it for parking at least 3 times, platinum is definitely the way to go.

^ Platinum is the only way to get season parking at CP. A few visits with $20 daily parking, and the platinum upgrade has paid for itself. Not to mention Early Entry access.

Now including the weekends, as well. I guess attendance hasn't been what they'd hoped for. These upcoming Saturdays could be quite busy.

In prior seasons, this week hasn't been crowded even with the bring-a-friend promotion.

The article has been updated. It seems that the water was contaminated for quite a long time: Some of these "new" precautions don't seem like they should be new.

I enjoy it. It looks great on the midway, especially when viewed from Celebration Plaza. The first drop is fun, though it can't beat Mantis's first drop as a stand-up. (There may not be many who agree with me on that last point.) The dive loop isn't bad. Overall, it's a solid ride that I'd wait up to 20-30 minutes for. You'll find me on Maverick, Magnum, Gemini, Dragster and even Gatekeeper more often, though.
