Lakemont Park is also dead, for anyone keeping track. Ride operators waiting for riders.
-
At Dorney Park, most trains are going out have half full. No wait. We'll be done here, including re-rides, soon. Next up, Lakemont Park - most likely.

If IS got its music back, that might excite me more than Project 2017 itself.

Looking up the barcode (via season pass/online order/credit card/receipt) when a cup is reported stolen would be one way. Thinking it through, though, ejecting from the park would be a bad idea since one could grab the wrong identical orange bottle by mistake. Simply denying refills on stolen bottles would reduce their theft appeal. Perhaps treating it like a season pass would be a good operations/customer service balance. Let a stolen drink bottle be replaced once (with receipt or order lookup) for ~$5. Lose it a second time, or pay in cash without keeping your receipt, and you get to buy a new one.

Ejecting from the park anyone who attempts to refill a stolen cup would probably help.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

Nah, we already have a second-hand, renamed Vekoma at the park. -
Some people look similar. Some people upload bad photos when buying their pass online. A lower percentage of Cedar Point guests are passholders compared with Kings Island guests.

Midnight closes are great. I recommend starting out with rides like Magnum, Gemini, Raptor, Rougarou & Gatekeeper just after dark. The 11pm hour can be a good time to get night rides on Maverick & Millennium. CP seems to get progressively more crowded from mid-July until schools start, so I recommend going sooner rather than (or in addition to) later.

I seem to recall that at least in one case, the issue was that the gate employee scanned the pass twice trying to get it to work. On the second scan, it had already "been used". As of a few years ago, according to an employee who explained it to me, the backend of Gate Central consisted of a MS SQL database server at each park containing tickets & entitlements. When visiting a guest park, a copy of the (platinum) pass record got created at that park. The process worked well, except for when it didn't.

Maybe someone did a little snow dance.

By the way, a few notes from my trip on Friday: Early July Fridays are good days to visit. Magnum in seat 1-3, just after it has reopened after heavy rain, is very highly recommended. I was served a hot burrito bowl at Chuck Wagon, hot chicken tenders at Frontier Inn (I'll forgive the cold fries), and a hot pizza slice at Corral. Food has improved markedly from last season. Some rides unfortunately got the call to close earlier than 12:08am. Rougarou closed at 12:00 & Valravn at 12:05. Luckily, we made it to Raptor before 12:08. Ohio Route 4 has its share of idiot drivers. I had to slam on the brakes (& horn) for a driver pulling out in front of me at a cross street, and I had to take evasive action in reverse for a truck making an extra wide turn while I was stopped at a light.

Or mayflies and/or midges inside of it. On at least a couple occasions, I made it back to Columbus with a live one.

I feel for the valet driver waiting on the guest who joins a long Millennium Force line at 12:03am after a packed Saturday. Some of the Photo Memories people have reported staying as late as 3am on particularly crazy days.

By the way, for anyone looking for reviews on Banshee, here's the thread created specifically for that: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29253-your-Banshee-experience/

Renewals typically get extra perks as well. 2015 gold/platinum passes renewed at Kings Island for 2016 received one Sunday Fast Lane Plus, ERT on Closing Day, and access to a 2016 preview night. It should be noted that online purchases & renewals are subject to a processing fee that in-person purchases are not subject to. (Currently $5.99 for 1-2 tickets, $7.99 for 3-4 tickets, or $9.99 for 5+ tickets)

And, if you enter the park dressed comfortably for the temperature at 6pm, you might find yourself stuck that way until 1am when it's 20° colder.
-
I like how you teach the art of the geysers to others hanging around the quarter stations. Helping keep the ride wet, even when you can't physically be there.
-
The season before the seatbelts were added, a few guests were complained that the restraint seemed to move forward during the ride (even though they remained locked as designed). With the change, any perceived movement of the primary restraint isn't likely to be an issue. It should be noted that the seatbelts have virtually no effect on the ride experience.

At a far-away park, the cost of getting to the front gate is likely to exceed the price of an admission ticket. If my Cedar Fair pass didn't work, and the park wouldn't budge, I suppose I'd buy a ticket, keep my receipt, and take the matter up with Kings Island's Guest Services later. Perhaps requesting a stack of Beagle Bucks.

Just don a rain poncho and something to keep your shoes dry. It might work, as long as you don't antagonize the tower operator and avoid Thrill_Biscuit at the water cannons. Or wear a swimsuit with a coverup, and shower/change at Soak City. In that case, ask the tower operator if you can "stay dry". -
Another bring-a-friend-cheap day has been scheduled for this upcoming Sunday: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/events-and-promotions Clearly, holiday weekend attendance (with the inclement weather) was much lower than expected.
