  1. Speaking of power outages at east coast Cedar Fair parks, Kings Dominion apparently had one this evening. http://wtvr.com/2016/06/11/kings-dominion-power-outage/
  2. Very detailed & entertaining report, as usual. Glad you had lots of fun! Looks like someone forgot that Holiday World has free sunscreen throughout the park!
  3. ^ Haunt maze side (right), or the side that still had seats (left)?
  4. On a day like today, hopefully guests are drinking lots of water - in addition to any soft drinks they purchase.
  5. ^ Some people attempt to enter The Beast line after park close by sneaking into that queue house. Hence the security attention.
  6. Did they stop sending trains before the usual 9:45pm time that operations suspend for fireworks? (They usually come over the loudspeaker explaining this starting around 9:00pm.) They usually get the all clear to resume operations about 10 minutes after fireworks end.
  7. This is happening tomorrow night. Anyone from here going? (There's still time to buy a ticket. Sales end at midnight tonight.)
  8. Oh I know. Just not at Kings Island Backlot Stunt Coaster?
  9. Just grab the last ride before fireworks at Beast, then make your way over to Project 2017 for last ride of the night. Not sure about anyone else, but I usually don't read this thread while at the park. Too many posts. I might suggest the wait times thread or a meet-up thread.
  10. "Leaks" haven't hurt the hype surrounding other major Cedar Fair projects. Coaster enthusiasts finding & sharing public records is inevitable anymore. People are talking about KI 2017 now more than ever. An announcement that's a complete surprise would be cool, but construction schedules don't always work out that way. Not to mention that you don't want people expecting to top Fury when that's not what you're doing this year. Underpromise & overdeliver. By the way, if you have "insider" information and are subject to a NDA (or frieNDA) as you suggest, staying away from relevant speculation would be prudent. Consult this site's terms of service...
  11. ^ On Friday, the spieler at Gemini was using the Amazement Park tagline.
  12. Let me be the first to say, welcome! I never worked as a ride op, but I'd highly recommend also not using the ones about non-existent seatbelts or likelihood of death. Those really aren't things for a park to joke about, and legal liability may be a concern as well. (What if a guest panicked & tried to exit the ride vehicle upon realizing that the seat belt is "missing"? What if a guest with a pre-existing condition passed away after riding?)
  13. I called Dorney, and - according to Guest Services - you needed to process there to have this offer on a Cedar Fair platinum pass. It wouldn't hurt to check at a Fast Lane location when visiting, but I wouldn't expect it to work for a platinum pass purchased elsewhere.
  14. Assuming it's a maintenance/weather delay, they'll likely be operating again by the time someone reading that makes it to the park.
  15. The park typically has a bring-a-friend-cheap offer on Father's Day, which adds to the crowds on Sunday. While much will depend on the weather, I'd generally expect about the same crowd level both Saturday and Sunday of that weekend.
  16. If Mean Streak does become a "hybrid" coaster, you may have just coined its nickname.
  17. According to a poster on PointBuzz (again, take with a grain of salt), people on the Mean Streak crew have been told that they will get a different position after July. So some form of extended refurbishment seems likely. I wouldn't take much from Screamscape. RMC I-Box was the rumor spread amongst CoasterMania attendees by park employees who admitted that they didn't really know. Rumors, true or not, have a way of becoming Screamscape "news". During the CoasterMania Q&A session, it was said that Matt Ouimet's remarked "best ride ever" after riding the new GhostRider. So add a coin to that bucket, perhaps.
  18. I guess that means coaster club members recently had a character dining experience in Sandusky? There were people lining up to take a picture with him...
  19. ^^ That was a rather embarrassing sign. See also some of the hidden comments on the visitkingsisland.com website.
  20. He would be the last person to ever let a "King's Island" typo or autocorrect failure slip through. (No worries, I had to correct the Android keyboard when it did that to me a couple days ago.)
  21. Don should do a Tweetup for all these people he has scavenging the park today!
  22. In the case of that sign, "private property" seems to refer specifically to the enforceability of the speed limit. If certain conditions are met, police in Ohio can cite drivers for violating a privately posted speed limit on private property. If the private property owner(s) wanted to prohibit non-resident traffic (in general, or to Cedar Point), it would be easy enough to post a sign to that effect. I have to wonder what those who were cited were doing to get pulled over. It would be hard to tell whether a particular car was using the road as a through route to Cedar Point until it reached the park. A related story: last year, I followed a car ~20 miles on OH-4 all the way to Cedar Point. The occupants of the car repeatedly tossed trash out the windows & sunroof over that entire distance - to & through Sandusky and the causeway. I called Cedar Point Police with the license plate number as soon as it was evident that they were headed to the park, but I don't think they were caught.
  23. Wow. I didn't know this. I never go in that way, but I do when I leave, I love to drive through those beautiful willows with water on each side. I find it enchanting. Guess I need to stop doing that. Terp: cited for merely traversing the road? Absent a sign advising that it's a private drive, or having previously been warned not to enter, that would seem bizarre. Now, if they were trying to access the waterfront from there, parking there, littering there, or generally being a nuisance there...
  24. I'm sure guests riding in nearby seats were very glad that you could, indeed, handle it.
  25. Cedar Point will be CLOSED tomorrow, Monday, June 6. From cedarpoint.com:
