It was true.

Of the six slides, five were open this morning. The tamest of the drop chamber slides wasn't operating because there weren't enough lifeguards. People brave enough to ride at 60° probably didn't need the tamer option, anyway. Soak City closed by 1:30pm due to low attendance; we finished most of the slides in the park by 12:30pm. Echoing ohiocolts, the drop slides are very intense. I again have a ride at Kings Island that gives me a (brief) scare - Xtreme Skyflyer just doesn't do it for me anymore. As soon as the countdown starts, there's that moment of "what the heck did I get myself into?". It's also a fast ride; the three of us who rode have the red marks on our backs to prove it. (No, this ride isn't for everyone.) The new tube slides are a lot of fun, minus the potential terror. The tube slide on the far left (from the rider's perspective at the top of the stairs) is the most fun - but be sure to follow the verbal safety instructions (hold on tightly at all times, put your feet up when you hit the water) to avoid capsizing like Lucas & Alec did! All three unique slides offer nice airtime and a well-paced ride.

Water slides at 60 degrees, yet he never wants to ride the log flume.

ohiocolts, aandjgoods and I were the only people from here who showed up to ride st 61 degrees. A few others showed up (in street clothes) to watch & take pictures.

Lower 60s this morning with a lingering chance of showers. The waterpark should be open as scheduled, 11am-8pm. Gold & platinum passholders only. For those brave enough not to let a little cold get in the way of being among the first riders, look for the meetup at the Soak City front gate right before opening!

The Beast is running particularly well this afternoon.

Especially microfiber shirts. They air dry quickly enough, anyway.

^^ If they're doing security checks more often, hopefully they find a way to reduce the wait time. Breakers guests won't be happy this summer if they end up spending half of their Early Entry time waiting to be wanded at the Resorts gate.

The water should be pretty clean at 11:00am this Saturday.

Did you follow the laundry instructions on the care tag? I don't know about ingesting. Licking the sauce off of them, maybe.

Sunday looks like good weather for the waterpark - 74° under the late May sun should feel pretty warm. I'm still planning on going first thing Saturday, as long as it's open. Mid-60s rising to about 70° is currently forecast, with a lingering chance of rain.

I plan to arrive around 2:30pm; I might stop in to see the 3pm COSI show in the Festhaus. That's enough extra time for me, considering that it is a 35 hour event. By the way, for those wanting to join KIC meetup(s) at the event, make sure to read (& perhaps post in) the Coasterstock Meetup thread. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31925-meetup-at-coasterstock/

They weren't conjuring an alternative history; they were talking in the present as if Mr. Kinzel was still in charge.
-
I had to hold my tongue on CP&LERR today as a guest seated nearby talked at length about the "history" of the park and where Richard Kinzel might put the next roller coaster.

CP Food Blog wrote a post for the visitkingsisland.com blog with information about this year's Coasterstock meals, with just a bit of ribbing. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog-article/online-fun/Coasterstock-packed-with-exclusive-ride-time-tours-fun-and-food/?mobile=0

Origins: A Cirque Experience Gold/Platinum Passholder Preview
malem replied to TombRaiderFTW's topic in Kings Island
Note that these are likely to "sell out" quickly. Don't delay if you plan to attend! -
If we could go back to consistent food quality & quick service at KI, albeit without meal plans, I'd happily go back to paying as I go. In fact, I'd buy more food than I used to, since the meal plan has me used to two in-park meals per day. In related news, today I had my first meal at Cedar Point since 2014 that was served at the proper temperature. Frontier Inn in its second week of operation.
-
Cedar Point was also doing security checkpoints Wednesday. The line at the resort gate reportedly lasted 20 minutes; I had no wait at the marina gate a few minutes after 9:00am.

Readers of the decoding thread may be interested to know that Maverick has been operating, albeit sporadically, today. It didn't open until around noon. It's currently down so the crew cam retrieve a guest's loose article(!).

His Kings Island email address is Don dot Helbig at visitkingsisland dot com. The Coasterstock email came from him.

You could go to Guest Services even now (when the park's open). If affected customer(s) paid with a card, they could presumably look up & refund the incorrect charge(s). I shudder to think of the day when $20 will be the normal price for two slices of KI pizza, a breadstick, and a fountain drink.
-
I don't suppose they were given receipts? I can only imagine what those guests will tell friends (or even an obnoxious consumer affairs reporter) about the food at Kings Island. Hopefully someone took the matter to Guest Services.

If your KI Store order went through, and you saw the green confirmation box after then registering for the event, you signed up successfully.

A curious ride name (and color) for a SIX park. https://www.sixflags.com/overgeorgia/attractions/new-ninja/overview
