  1. Everyone knows that the classic thing to do on a roller coaster is to put your hands in the air. But does anyone know when or why this was started?
  2. I went there today. I REALLY liked it. It was really crowded so I didn't get to ride anything new. But I loved all the color...there was so much vibrant color...everywhere. My only complaint is that Kookaburra Bay wasn't as "secluded and peaceful" as they said it would be. Jackaroo Landing was awesome... especially the huge bucket that dumped all the water. And Taz. This thing is HUGE. So much bigger than i thought it would be. It looks almost unreal it's so big. I also liked the new fountain...nice vibrant colors. And I REALLY liked how they had a smoking area near the entrance. When it comes to new rides... PKI really knows how to do it!
  3. No, I am pretty sure that if you buy them before the cutoff date you can still get the goldpass whenever you process it. Last year we bought our passes before the cutoff date and my sister didn't get hers processed until mid-July and still got goldpass. Hope that answers your question. Have a great weekend!
  4. I think it would be cool if PKI got a Vekoma Tilt Coaster. This is what it looks like. It's like a normal coaster except there's a flat section at the top...and when you get there the whole piece of track at the top tilts until it's vertical and then it goes straight down and through the rest of the course. I think it would be awesome...and it would be the first in the US. Could this possibly be the Addams Family Coaster? I mean it could be Uncle Fester's invention like the survey said... Here's where you can see details of it. EDIT: Here's some more really good pics of it
  5. Last night, I got to PKI for the first time this season. (Yeah yeah, I've been busy lately). So during my 20 minute wait for The Beast I watch a little of the 25th anniversary documentary and during it, there's a place where it says that The Beast goes 70 mph. I know for a fact that it goes 65 mph, because it states that here and at rcdb. Anyone know how or why they put that in the video?
  6. They aren't very annoying. Unless you can't have those 5 seconds of your precious life wasted. But what is annoying when you just walk out and you hear this *click* and find out you had your picture taken without warning. Most of the time I just say no thanks and head right on back to The Beast.
  7. Over at ThrillRide (A coaster site) they had a Reader's Poll for all the new rides in 2003. Along with that the had best steel and wooden coaster and stuff. I just thought I'd let you know that The Beast was voted #1 Wooden Roller Coaster. So now The Beast holds #1 at CoasterBuzz AND ThrillRide! Here is the link to the results of the Reader's Poll!
  8. I was just looking around on the web earlier and I found some pics from PKI in 2000. They're kinda cool because they have KCKC in them and KC. Also, they have a pic of SoB at the bottom of the rose bowl where it valleyed in 2000? Just a trip down memory lane... Here is the website
  9. Ahhh...I remember Days of Thunder. That was an awesome FX ride. I always liked it when you went into the pit stop and they changed the tires. I have no clue how I remembered that...
  10. I loved the waterpark, but I would take the main park over it any day. I mean, yeah, it's nice to cool off with a few water slides but I would rather take a ride on The Beast and Delirium than having some rides on the water slides. I have yet to see BB so my opinion might be changed when it opens. The pics of Tazmanian Typhoon loook awesome....so that might blow me away and my opinion will completely change. Who knows?
  11. I think we all know the one about Vortex and how it's sinking and all..lol Oh, and the one about how a kid fell out of Drop Zone at the top and it's going to be closed next year... What I want to know is....how do people come up with this kinda stuff?
  12. Well you know, rcdb can be really helpful here... Scream! (Six Flags Magic Mountain) Medusa (Six Flags Marine Wolrd) That might not seem like a lot, but generally Six Flags puts TONS of roller coasters in their parking lots. And they like to take clones of roller coasters and just plop them down into any space they can find! But let's not get into that...
  13. Yes, you would. The massive lift hill structure would be in the way. There;s no way you could have seen it valley, if it did at all.
  14. I knew that. They also have gravel inside the track of "Talon" at Dorney Park!
  15. That would be awesome! I would definetely go for that!
  16. No, you know its bad when Cincy Public cancels school - either that or someone on the road crews in Cincinnati really needs to be fired. No...you know it's bad when PRINCETON gets cancelled. For a 2 year period way back we didn't get any delays, closings, or early releases. Beat that.
  17. Yeah...I forget when...but the handrails along the track used to be red or blue and the track itself was red or blue too. I used to have some pics on my computer but I can't find them right now. POST 100!
  18. Hm...dunno. I would think no because the helixes are very large and it might be pretty costly to have that much wood. And plus...they're already spending money on retracking it to make it smoother. But who knows?
  19. I know RCDB has some....but right now their site or server is down. So I can't post the website or anything. But here are some pics of it at Camden Park. http://www.coastergallery.com/2000/cam10.html http://www.coastergallery.com/2000/cam11.html
  20. I'm not sure. Everyone always said te BIG March anouncement. Is this BIG enough? I think so. I mean they are spending A LOT of money this year on BB and Paramount Theatre and other renovations in the park. Will they have enough money next year to build a big coaster or something big?
  21. The Demon, the first Arrow Shuttle Loop, was built in 1977 where Congo Falls is now. However in 1987 it was removed. Does anyone know why it was removed? Was it removed just to make way for Congo Falls?
  22. Thanks a lot...I have been reading a lot about that lately and that tied of some loose ends.
  23. KECO (Kings Entertainment Company) owned PKI before it was bought by Paramount. My question is; did Kings Island start KECO? Did Kings Island build PKD? And did KECO buy PGA and Carowinds or build them?
  24. I love ALL of the tunnels! Everyone on the trains screams and if they aren't it still sounds like they are. I like night rides too because the ride ops get you so pumped up and then you're so exctied! And then you only hear things and can't see much else. So you have the feeling of darting around the woods. That's one of the best feelings in the world! Whenever I'm at PKI I always try to have a night ride on The Beast!
  25. I remembered in a past thread (which I couldn't find) that someone mentioned that another Huss Giant Frisbee was being contructed. Well indeed I found the ride and place. It's called "Sledge Hammer." It's located in BOBBEJAANLAND Lichtaart, Belgium. What do you think of it? Does ours look better? http://users.skynet.be/pretparken/bjl/bouwsh.htm ^That's the site...scroll down to the bottom for finished pics.
