  1. Yet another leak about a 2012 attraction: http://www.kingsdomi...ry/Thrill-Rides
  2. Time to open the 2012 chapter of this thread! http://www.facebook....242957175745448 Unlike last year's post, there's no mention of new purchases getting a one-use ticket for this year.
  3. Please, no. We've already had that once.
  4. Wrestling is an Olympic sport. The very fact that "pro wrestling" incorporates the name "wrestling" in its name means that it is masquerading as a sport, plain and simple. If they would admit that it's not a sport and change the name to reflect that, I might actually enjoy it. Until then, I will consider it fake and refuse to have anything to do with it.
  5. I am well aware that these guys are actually getting hurt. That doesn't offset the most important part of your post, which I have put in bold red and underlined. It's scripted, and therefore fake. It PRETENDS to be sports, but since a basic requirement for a sporting contest is that no one knows in advance who will win, it's FAKE sports. In other words, it's fake in the same way so many of today's reality TV shows are fake. When something pretends to be something that it's not, it's fake. End of story.
  6. We were in Detroit for Mrs. Gator's family reunion on August 20th, and I was talking to a few of her uncles about school start dates. GatorGirl had started on August 16th, and they were telling me something about a law in Michigan that either is in effect or that a group is trying to pass that schools are not to start until after Labor Day. Correct. According to this article on the Michigan government website, state law since late 2005 has been that schools cannot start until after Labor Day. Also, Ohio is considering a similar measure; see this story from the Dayton Daily News.
  7. It's pro wrestling, therefore it's FAKE. I don't give a $#!+.
  8. Now available in the HoliShop ($9.99 each): http://www.holidayworld.com/holishop/mrs-koch-bobble-head
  9. I would say that Invertigo does belong above Vortex. Both have the same number of inversions, and Invertigo has the added feature of going backward for half of them. Whether it belongs above FoF or not is a matter open to debate; I personally would not put it above FoF, but I could easily see someone making a reasonable argument as to why it should.
  10. Agreed. On a side note: Nice to see you raven about something for a change.
  11. So whatever happened with this? I would think that if the record was broken, the park would have advertised it, but I haven't seen anything about it. Did they not even come close? Is KI trying to cover up an epic fail? What happened?

    Mega Poll

Favorite park owners: 1. Koch Development Corporation (somehow I have a feeling this is going to be a popular answer) 2. Cedar Fair 3. Whoever owns The Beach Waterpark Favorite ride manufacturers: I'll skip this one; I don't pay attention to who manufactures each ride I ride, so I couldn't tell you the differences between them if my life depended on it. Favorite parks: 1. Holiday World 2. Cedar Point 3. Kings Island 4. The Beach Waterpark ...and that's all the parks I've been to so far, so I don't have a #5 yet. Favorite rides: 1. Millennium Force 2. The Raven 3. Wildebeest 4. The Voyage 5. Maverick 6. Top Thrill Dragster 7. The Beast 8. Diamondback 9. Flight Deck 10. Gemini
  13. http://www.holidayworld.com/node/3591 I remember watching them auction off the first one at HoliWood Nights this year; I think it went for $250.
  14. From the park's Twitter: Does this mean that this is the last year for that show? Or am I reading it wrong?
  15. Null vote. I don't give a [bleep] about color. Just tell me which one's going to win, and that's the one I'll ride.
  16. WindSeeker was announced on August 24, 2010. See this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22577
  17. The current overview of the park seen on Google Maps was taken on July 1st, 2010. Where did you find that info? I'm not disputing it, just curious as to where to find it. I've looked for that info before for various areas and have had no luck finding it.
  18. Not too recent, though, as there's no sign of WindSeeker.
  19. I guess I will be the first to say "Not at Holiday World". And not anywhere in Delaware either, which has no sales tax period.
  20. I just noticed that you added SOB and the winning Racer to the list of options. My vote has now been officially cast for the winning Racer.
  21. Yes. Absolutely nothing can be left in the station on either one because both have separate loading and unloading stations. This year's cup clearly says on the top of the lid "HAND WASH ONLY".
  22. While I do generally agree with you, this is a slippery slope with me. My wife has been working in the mental health and developmental disabilities field for many years. While conservatives and liberals easily get "offended" with what the other says, they mostly have the capacity to defend themselves against attacks, abuses, and insulting behavior. Many people with mental health issues and disabilities don't have the capacity or ability to verbally defend themselves against insults and often this can lead to ignored abuses and awful behavior. If people don't stand up and defend the defenseless, and express offense at things that are truly offensive where will it stop? I agree 100%. If I hear someone insulting the mentally disabled or even just using "retarded" in the wrong way, I will take offense. But I do so not because the insult forced me to, but because I made a conscious decision to take offense. Choosing to take offense is not necessarily wrong—indeed, as you explained, it may be that choosing not to take offense is the wrong thing to do—but it is still a choice that one must make each time that one is presented with something that is potentially offensive.
  23. They were offended because they chose to take offense. Seriously, the only way one can be offended is to make a conscious decision to take offense to something. That something, regardless of what it is, cannot automatically cause one to take offense against his/her will.
