  1. Can one of the old guys around here explain the story behind that to us young'uns?
  2. It was checked. Did what you said and it didn't work. Both. It doesn't work on either.
  3. What version of Firefox are you two running?
  4. I've just noticed recently that Firefox's built-in spellcheck function no longer works on KIC. I don't know when it stopped working; I just noticed it. If I right-click on the text in the reply box, "Check Spelling" has a check mark next to it, indicating that it's turned on, but it doesn't work. Turning it off and then back on has no effect. It works fine on all other sites I frequent. I'm using Firefox 9.0.1 on Windows Vista. Any chance of getting it to work with KIC?
  5. Good guess. It does appear that Knott's' swings are purple in that area.
  6. How about this question: When was the last time the switchbacks were used on Congo Falls?
  7. Probably not a good idea for the reasons Titan laid out. You, sir, are capable of some truly wonderful puns.
  8. Great job! I'd hit the like button on it, but I'm out of likes for the day.
  9. Yes. At the GOCC party back on 12/10, I believe Don said it was a preview "weekend" (I'm not totally sure on that). My guess is that the preview days will be the weekend before Soak City opens to the public.
  10. You can if you ignore the problem long enough to be able to pass it to your successor.
  11. Sent mine in. Ranking: 1. The Raven (Holiday World) 2. The Voyage (Holiday World) 3. The Beast (Kings Island) 4. Tornado (Stricker's Grove) 5. Blue Streak (Cedar Point) 6. The Legend (Holiday World) 7. The Racer (Kings Island) 8. Woodstock Express (Kings Island) 9. Teddy Bear (Stricker's Grove) 10. Mean Streak (Cedar Point)
  12. LOL! I wish I could "like" that post, but unfortunately, I'm out of likes for the day. So this post will have to represent a "like".
  13. Yeah, "globe" seems to be one of the more common mispronunciations/misspellings, despite the fact that it's actually pronounced "GO-bull". And by the way, I see you added my new avatar into the credits while you were fixing the spelling. You didn't need to do that, but thanks anyway!
  14. Thank you for doing this! I wasn't born until 1987 and have very few memories of KI before 2010, so it was very interesting to see what the park looked like back then. I have seen very few pictures of the park that old, and to see all these old photos and be able to compare them with what's there now has been a real treat. I know this must have taken a lot of work, and I appreciate it. I know I didn't post in here very often, mostly just hitting "like" on each post, but that's just because I tend to be a quiet person and a little shy. Yes, definitely. It was one thing to look at the 1974 shot, then scroll down and look at the 2011 shot, and scroll back and forth comparing them, but the fades really made it easy to compare the shots and figure out what had changed and what hasn't. Kudos to Hendrick for his work as well. And just think, a few years down the road, somebody else may dig this thread up, read through it, and be inspired to do a similar project. Heck, that project could be taking these same photos again in 2048 to compare them to your 2011 photos! Of course, I had to wait until this morning to upload an avatar, after it was too late to get it in the credits. And I'm not sure which is longer: Santa's "nice" list or the list of people who have butchered my name! (Seriously, don't feel bad about it; more people misspell my name than get it right. )
  15. I had 24 in a row on Raven to close out Holiwood Nights this year. Yes, Raven is my #1 at HW. Voyage is #2, Legend is #3. Of course that's all based solely on Holiwood Nights 2011, which is the only time I've ever been to HW. Holiwood Nights 2012 may change that, particularly with the possibility of Timberliners on the Voyage.
  16. Hit "Edit" on the first post followed by "Use Full Editor". Then you'll be able to change the thread title.
  17. I think my last trip was 2010, might have been 2009. Maverick was awesome. What I thought was weird is the shortest lne was Magnum, like it the middle of the day. It had a walk-on, and I expected a decent line. Does Magnum usually have a short wait? Because other rides were long waits, like TTD 1 hour, MF 1 hour, and Maverick 2 hours. Yeah. When I was there in June of this year, Magnum was a walk-on or near walk-on the whole week. Granted, other major rides had relatively short waits due to the crappy weather (TTD 30 min. avg., Maverick 20 min. avg., MF 30 min avg.), but Magnum was always a walk-on for some seats, and never more than a three-train wait for any seat that I saw.
  18. Thanks, and it was a pleasure to be able to experience it with friends.
  19. And thank you for the compliment! I had to be told to keep moving a couple of times because I was spending too much time trying to get a shot just right. No problem. Wish you could have been there; the whole experience was great, especially the walk down the train tracks. The subject of the Crypt was brought up by Mr. Helbig and discussed for a couple minutes or so. Unfortunately, I don't remember what was said besides that they were reviewing the situation with it. Sorry.
  20. Thanks to you too! I did enjoy myself tremendously, and I look forward to 2012!
  21. Looks like you got some good photos too! Keep 'em coming!
  22. They had two events at KI this year (this party and the Spring Fling in May), but both of those rotate parks and will be headed elsewhere next year. They're still finalizing plans for next year's events, but at this time it doesn't look like there's likely to be one at KI next year. And thank you for reading! Yeah, I didn't know we were going to walk the tracks until we turned onto them. At first, when we turned out of the Picnic Grove and headed toward the tracks, I thought we were going to get a look at Soak City construction, but that wasn't the case. As for letting you feel like you were there, you're welcome! And thanks for the congrats.
  23. The speakers included Mike from the Gravity Group, Chris Peters from Indiana Beach, Toby Garcia from S&S Worldwide, and of course the one and only Don Helbig. If I remember what I heard correctly (and that's a big "if"), Toby Garcia revealed that S&S has been contracted to build the structure for the Olympic torch for the 2014 Winter Games in Russia, and IIRC I believe he said that the structure would actually be a rideable drop ride. SOB: "No decision has been made." --Don Helbig. Paraphrasing here, he added that everybody wants a decision to be made, and the park would like a resolution, but they just don't know at this time. Prizes: They had a whole table filled with prizes, sorted into small stuff (lanyards, pins, etc.) on one end and better stuff (the media invite, etc.) on the other end. When your name was called, you got to go back and pick out one item from each end of the table. Don Helbig was the first name called, followed by what I think were two club officials, so at that point several people, myself included, were jokingly yelling "rigged". Then my name was next, which was good because they only had one DB media invite. The only other "big" prize I remember seeing was a game titled "Paramount's Kings Island–opoly". I didn't pay attention to any of the others because I spotted the media invite and went straight for it. Everyone's name was called, so everybody got something, which was good.
