  1. Again, great report and photos! It's nice to hear that the animals appeared to have been treated well. I've usually been against circuses because of inhumane practices, but this one appears to be an exception to that, and I appreciate that they make the effort to take proper care of the animals.
  2. Wait. A smiley is now a sentence that requires a period at the end? I must have missed that memo.
  3. According to a new post on their Facebook page, the 40th anniversary cup will be sold in both ocean blue and silver, but there will only be a limited quantity available. There will also be a Soak City cup.
  4. 1. There is no age requirement as long as you meet the standard height requirement for the ride. 2. The whole event is on The Racer, but you are by no means required to stay on The Racer the whole time. If you want to take a break and go ride other rides for an hour or two, you're more than welcome to do so. We'd love to have you there!
  5. is ready for opening day already.

  6. ^I did last year, and I may do the same for Opening Day this year.
  7. Welcome! Glad to have you on board! The more we can get, the better! I'll be there as well. It's very easy to get bitten by the coaster bug and so much fun!
  8. Good point, but after taking a closer look at my two WindSeeker cups (one each from KI and CP), I notice that the CP one just has an image of the ride itself plus the name molded into it. So they could recycle those.
  9. Actually, I'll bet that they recycle the leftover WindSeeker cups from last year and use them at Carowinds and Kings Dominion.
  10. I got the same error when I tried to upload a full-resolution photo for my avatar a few months ago. I had to manually downsize it to about 300–400 pixels wide for the system to take it and properly handle it.
  11. You are correct on both counts. CP's online reservation system lists, "New for 2012, Room features include updated fixtures and decor in the room and bathroom." in some of the Bon Air room descriptions. Also, prices of those rooms have indeed gone up; last year, a single occupancy two double bed room without lakeview for midweek in mid-June was $129/night before tax and Platinum Pass discount. That same room is now $159/night. A one queen bed room, which they didn't even have last year, is $135/night, still more than the two double bed room. The one king bed room has gone up from about $199/night to $213/night.
  12. Leland, good points. The "stand-out offerings", as you put it, do help tremendously. When I went to Cedar Point for five days last June, I opted to stay on the peninsula for the whole trip for the sake of convenience, and the only food service location inside the park I ate at twice that week was Pink's, simply because of the quality of the food there. I admit that I hadn't thought of how seasonal vs. year-round operation affects prices. I've always held the position that food prices at KI need to be reduced, but considering what you said, I now see why that won't work. I still think there's a little room for improvement with prices (particularly with soft drinks), but I'll settle for improved quality. That, however, does not guarantee I will go back to eating in the park all the time; I'm still on a small budget, and while I may grab a meal inside the park occasionally, my budget can't afford to do that all the time.
  13. IIRC, most of the trail is shaded, so the heat back there wouldn't be nearly as bad as it would be out on the midway.
  14. Or why not make it free, advertise that it's air conditioned and give people a glimpse of what they can see at Dinosaurs Alive? Promote the attraction through a free movie. Bingo. This is why the movie should be free. Give people a chance to get out of the summer heat for 10 minutes while at the same time promoting the outdoor trail. People that otherwise wouldn't have paid for either might relax with the movie, then decide, "Hey, this is more interesting than I thought, let's hit the trail." I bet that they would make more money off of DA! if the movie were free than they would with the current upcharge.
  15. Just copy and paste the URL of the page directly into the post. The software will automatically recognize it and format it into a link.
  16. I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall reading something somewhere, possibly here, about HW having said that they would never work with Intamin again because of problems with Pilgrim's Plunge. Can someone confirm or deny that?
  17. Nice! It's a bag, probably what the shops bagged your purchases in. If you look really close, you can see a clear handle coming out from her hand, curving around, and connecting back to the bag at the edge of her shoulder.
  18. KI tweeted this photo of the new Soak City entrance: http://twitpic.com/92zj7s/full
  19. Wait, what? Where is this Subway? I love Subway.
  20. The point is that the film is IMO not worth $2. At least one other park is making it free; KI should do the same.
  21. Where's the dislike button? We need a dislike button for this post.
