Apparently they don't just use NWS forecasts. I just looked it up on both sites; the NWS right now says 52 degrees with an 80% chance of rain, while Weather Underground right now says 66 degrees with a 60% chance of rain. Having never used Weather Underground before (I had to Google it to find it just now), I have no idea about their accuracy, but I hope they're right and the NWS is wrong.

Incredible Matt Ouimet Interview

Very nice! I did notice a Disney slip-up: at 7:26 he used the term "annual passholders" instead of "season passholders". -

Luminosity, Powered by Pepsi

Awesome lights! Too bad I have no trips to CP planned for this year. -
Posted by Mr. Scheid on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/KIGMGREG/status/195249347967987712/photo/1 I'm hoping there's a dining area inside the building in addition to the serving line(s) and that the building is air-conditioned. The waterpark needs a place where people can go for a while to get out of the heat without getting wet, and this may be it.

Awesome! I foresee the park getting more of my nickels this year... wait, what denomination does Mr. Ouimet prefer?

Based on what I've been told, I believe that it was determined that the 2006 accident was caused in part by heavy trains. In order to switch to lighter trains, they had to take the loop out because the lighter trains would not have had enough momentum to get through the loop. Someone with better knowledge of what went down can confirm or correct me. I too never got the chance to ride SOB, pre- or post-loop, so my personal preference would be for it to be re-opened in some form so I can ride it at least once. That said, at this point I'll be happy just to have a decision made.
-
Oh, is that what the theme of the ride is supposed to be? I rode it once last June and couldn't figure out what was supposed to be going on. Quite possibly because it was so boring I could have taken a nap on it. I say good riddance to it. Iron Dragon is 46".

I don't care how cold it is or how much rain there is, I'll be there. I have been in severe withdrawal since October, with only a small reprieve in mid-December, and I need a fix for my KI craving. Hell, I'll wait in a six-hour line for Flight of Fear if that's what it takes to get my fix. Yes, kids, I'm addicted to Kings Island. And unlike cigarettes and drugs, this addiction is safe (for everything except your wallet).

My biggest complaint over the new options is the fact that the dining plans are only available attached to admission tickets. $9.00 extra for a meal and snack is a reasonable price that I would pay for, but for a season pass holder, I see no way to buy the dining plan by itself. You HAVE to buy a regular admission ticket to get the dining plan, and that IMO is a bad move. Those who have season passes are the ones who visit the park frequently and thus the ones most likely to know there are cheaper options nearby and thus eat outside of the park. If they want to make money off of this, they should be offering it to passholders to encourage us to eat in the park and not take our nickels elsewhere (I know I would take them up on the offer) instead of only giving the discount to the people who are more likely to eat in the park anyway and thus reducing their profit margin on those people.

Ah, OK. Sarcasm does not come across well in text format, hence my confusion. Anyone want to design a sarcasm emoticon? -

Of COURSE they've never done ERT on Mammoth. The ride is new for 2012. -

Great article! Thank you so much for posting this; it and all the other historical stuff posted over the past six months really helps pass the time in the offseason. Just make sure you've saved some stuff for next offseason! -

So somebody screwed up in the original design. I wonder if it's been fixed in the past thirty or so years. As always, thanks for posting! -
Oh, really? Policies in the waterpark may or may not apply to the dry park. Last year on opening day, they allowed a mad scramble down IS and through Rivertown as people raced to be first on Diamondback or The Beast. At this time, we have no reason to believe that won't be the case again.

Nice! I've never been on the train on a water stop. Where do they do that now, and do they even do it with passengers on board anymore? -
If you did the "instant renewal", then no, you do not have to go through processing. If you printed out vouchers with barcodes, then yes, you must take those into the processing center to get new passes.

Interesting. You just named the four parks that "tested" WindSeeker last year. I highly doubt it was a coincidence that the top four parks got the first four WindSeekers.
