  1. True. I have also never seen the price go down in the middle of an operating day.
  2. I believe the most it can cost is $25 and the least is $5. Rate is adjusted based on how crowded the park is.
  3. FUN fact. You can view this episode any time you want on Bing videos. http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/the-cincinnati-kids/17ux25lsv It will not load if you have an ad blocker running, so if you're using one of those, turn it off.
  4. Actually, I think a more accurate statement would be safety first, then reliability, then capacity. That's a big part of why Cedar Fair is such a loyal B&M customer as of late. They can offer all 3 and their coasters tend to be very popular with the general public, and decently popular with enthusiasts.
  5. I dreamed that they opened an exact (but mirror-imaged) clone of Kings Island right next to Cedar Point. Literally everything about it was identical except for the fact that it was mirrored. (This only applied to paths and coaster layouts and overall geography. Text, logos, etc, were still not mirrored)
  6. I wonder when the last new installation of a Vekoma occurred at a Cedar Fair park. They don't seem to go with them a whole lot either.
  7. I'm all for getting rid of Graveyard Shift and never speaking of it again. "We are a monster band" are words that shall Haunt my memories until the day I die.
  8. Fast Lane is still on KD's site. https://www.kingsdominion.com/ticket-category/Fast-Lane-Fright-Lane I think having water park attractions on Fast Lane is a missed opportunity. They could have easily sold a separately-ticketed "Splash Lane" pass...
  9. Also, the way the first drop twists around, it creates an optical illusion that it is vertical at one point. It's not. It's still too early for a reliable forecast. At any rate, I want Media Day to have clear skies and beautiful temps, but I'm pulling for scattered showers on opening day. Should keep the crowds at bay.
  10. I don't think that means that it WON'T though. Diamondback is in Ohio where laws are different. And to my knowledge, it is the only B&M Hypercoaster in Ohio. Had Intimidator received them, I think Diamondback would definitely be getting them. Since Intimidator didn't have them, I don't think it means Diamondback won't, but it confirms that there is a possibility that it could still go either way.
  11. I have the same file. I merged them to mono for the ringtone, but if (or more likely, when) the Banshee scream becomes particularly irritating, I may set my text alert to just the "NOW YOU WILL PAY" part as you described. There are actual parks that are that cruel? I thought that only happened in Roller Coaster Tycoon...
  12. When you set your ringtone to Adventure Express's 2nd lift hill audio and your text alert to the Banshee scream. Yes, the audio for the former does exist online.
  13. I set my goal at $75. I have also issued a challenge to my donors. If I double my goal, I'll sit in a wheel seat for as much of The Racer marathon as possible. If I TRIPLE my goal, I'll sit in 1-3 or 5-3 for as much of the marathon as possible. I am also accepting donations of Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, and any other relevant things to help me deal with my apparent poor decision making skills. In hindsight, I hope that everybody is just clamoring for those seats so I can't take them
  14. Many schools, even public schools, are off on Good Friday. Many workplaces, however, are not. And children below the age of 16 will not easily be going to the park even if they do have school off unless a friend, parent, relative, etc has that day off and is willing to drive them to Kings Island.
  15. A user on the Carowinds Connection has just posted that as of today, Intimidator is Seatbelt free! http://carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3925&start=930#wrap However, I will not discourage Rollernut from visiting one of Cedar Fair's finest properties for us!
  16. When you walk outside and swear you hear the unmistakable sound of Firehawk's anti-rollbacks...
  17. Hard to say. The restraints are totally different. Keep in mind, however, that Banshee will have a longer seat belt (allowing for larger riders) in row 4. On Gatekeeper, it's a difference of about an inch. I'd say that if you fit on other Inverts, Banshee seems like it will actually be a bit more accommodating than many other inverts. But this is totally speculation.
  18. That's why Outlaw Run and Iron Rattler both beat out Gatekeeper last year right? No, they beat out Gatekeeper because Gatekeeper is boring.
  19. 1. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ2. Rocky Mountain Construction, makers of the New Texas Giant, Outlaw Run, Etc. 3. Mean Streak. And it has been improved recently. It's really not very rough at all anymore as long as you choose an odd-numbered row.
  20. There was never a denial for the B&M Wing Coaster named The Bat either, we never found out that we WEREN'T getting that until Banshee was announced. Patience, padawan. All will be revealed soon enough. (I'm still accepting donations of plane tickets to Charlotte... My offer to go to Carowinds and investigate this matter still stands)
  21. I have been on the Maid of the Mist in the summer of 2001. But I was just a wee lad back then. I was also in New York City that same trip, and stood atop the one of the World Trade Center buildings (don't remember which tower) in August of 2001... Needless to say, that made the next month's events that much more unsettling for ten-year-old me... But I guess in a weird, terrible way, it's one of those things I can say I've done that nobody will ever get to again...
  22. A pawl from my understanding is part of the ratcheting device that keeps the restraint in the locked position, it is also what produces the click click click sound when lowering or locking in a restraint. Having 11 out of 24 pawls skip would be spread over the 12 lap bars on the coaster. However that breaks down to each tub (since this is a spinning coaster) I am unsure. The take away is that obvious maintenance and inspection has not been completed on this coaster or at least off season maintenance rebuilding of the tubs has not been done. I cannot imagine 11 out of 24 pawls wearing down at exactly the same time, this has been ongoing. I'd assume that's the correct definition of pawl (or close enough for government work). A quick Google image search turned up this: Which looks like the sort of device that a coaster lap bar would use to ratchet down. I wonder if ride ops on Exterminator at Kennywood will stop informing guests that the seatbelts are optional for adults? Though I have a high faith that the Kennywood maintenance department would make sure this doesn't happen...
  23. In other news, and to put this thread back on topic, tomorrow will tell the tale for the Carowinds side of the rumor. We just need a member to go to Carowinds and check it out for us... "Paging merthecat, paging merthecat, your assistance is needed!"
  24. It also helps that both rides will start spilling into the midway even with relatively short lines, and when the average parkgoer sees a line overflowing into the midway, it often scares them off.
  25. Vortex is the probably the park's biggest people eater. That combined with its not being quite as popular as Diamondback and The Beast lead to short, quick moving lines. Heck, even when it's backed up to Juke Box Diner, you're looking at a 20 minute wait if the ride is running at max capacity.
