  1. What about Flight of Fear? Open up all the switchbacks and fill everyone into the line.
  2. Does closing early still ever happen? I never heard it would before.
  3. ^I was wondering the same thing.
  4. Thanks for the crowds stuff, Jdawg1998, 16woods, and McSalsa. ^^Were just finding an average type of crowd for the day, to just make some predictions later on. And I forgot to mention to put how the weather was in my first post, but I know Opening day was off and on rain, Last Saturday was mostly cloudy most of the day, with rain before the park opened, and last Sunday it was mostly sunny I believe.
  5. Ok so, I decided to make a topic for posting about KI's crowds this year. This way, we can predict crowds for different days this year, and for most days in 2013. So, if any of us KICers go to the park on any operating day, we can post about how the crowds were on that day. So, you can post comments on how long the lines were at times of the day, and give it a 1-5 rating, which I am now going to explain. A 1 would mean walk-ons for about everything all day. A 2 would mean walk-ons on most rides in the mornings, and maybe 20-30 minute waits on lower capacity rides later in the day (example, Firehawk). A 3 would mean an average day, with maybe up to hour waits on lower capacity rides, and around 20 minute waits on the major rides with better capacity. A 4 would mean most switchbacks filled on most rides, making around 2 hour waits on lower capacity rides, and maybe around 45 minutes on better capacity major rides. 5 would mean just a very crowded day, with most rides having all switchbacks filled, with some lines spilling out into the midways. And you can use decimals for the ratings. Ok, so here is an example of when I went on Saturday, 5-5-12. Walk on for Invertigo during ERT, much longer wait later in the day. Diamondback line about 45 minutes at around noon. And the flight deck line was about 30 minutes at about 2:30. So, I rate this day a 4 on the crowds scale. So, that is how the topic works. Feel free to share your expirience with crowds you've had so far at KI this year!
  6. I was also stopped by a marching band when walking for Diamondback, I wonder if I could have seen you (if I did, I would not have known). Nice report!
  7. Darn that's right after I left .
  8. Sounds like you had fun! I was also there and saw that line for Adventure Express, and it filled about the whole queue I believe, so I passed it.
  9. I went yesterday and had a funnel cake (with apple topping). I've never had one at KI before, so I'm not sure how much it improved. It was a nice, sweet funnel cake. It's $6.99 with apple or strawberry topping and $6.49 for just the funnel cake. It's also a nice size, and I ugh, got to full to finish it, and I didn't want to puke on Flight Deck or something.
  10. It was closed when I went today .
  11. The whole time I was there, it did not operate at all (I left at about 3). A storm could have had something to do with it. Now to right the rest of my report! (In the first post).
  12. Ok so, my friend invited me to go to Kings Island today. I tried to talk him into going on Sunday instead, but he said he was busy. So anyway, we got to the park at around 9:30, and headed to Invertigo for ERT. I noticed you now show your gold pass back towards the entrance of Action Zone instead of IS. The new paint on Invertigo was great. I just waited for a cycle to finish and hopped on. I was really excited it was coaster season again! It was a great ride to kick off the season. We then headed to Diamondback for ERT. On the way, I saw a big circle of people, and in the middle looked like someone yelling. It looked like Bert the Conqurer! I thought it was to because I heard travel channel was shooting this weekend. When we got to Diamondback, it wasnt operating yet, and they were letting people in, so the line was spitting out of the entrance, with no switchbacks being used yet. I decided to head over to Eiffel Tower to wait for the park to open and head for the X-base. At about 9:55, there was a lady on the international bandstand singing god bless America, When she was done, I turned around and saw the rope done, and people dashing to the X-base. I did a walk there, to avoid any trouble. We got to the X-base and onto the 2nd ride of the day on Firehawk. We then headed to Flight of Fear, which was a walk on at the time. A great ride still with the nice lighting effects. We then rode again, while walking up to the station, the station was crowded and we waited a few cycles. We then headed to Vortex, which had about a 10 minute wait. I also noticed how WindSeeker still did not look ready for the season, I hope it gets kicking soon. I headed to The Beast then, to find it was CLOSED! Then I took a look at the Crypt, just standing there. Then we headed to Diamondback, which had most of the main switchbacks filled. It was about a 45 minute ride, and it was great. I rode it in the back row, and held my arms up and put them back on the splashdown, and one of my arms got soaked. I then took a trip up the Eiffel Tower, trying to find something without a long line, but no luck. I decided to head to Racer though. There was just one que part open, but both sides were operating. About half of the switchbacks were filled, so I was expecting about a 25 minute wait. But, the line was moving extremely fast. This was because only 1 part of the que was open, but it was spitting into both sides in the station, and this could be done with the removal of 1/3 of the fence. They likely did this for making Fast Lane easier, and I like how they do it. It was only about a 10 minute wait. Then I decided to try a funnel cake, and I got it with an apple topping. It was really good, and a nice portion, and it cost $7. I then hoped maybe Flight Deck would save me from long lines, but so did everyone else. Yes, there was a line for Flight Deck! Nice support for the ride! There was quite a bit of a line, and it was a 30 minute wait. Then my friend had to go home, so we headed home. I noticed WindSeeker, The Beast, and Drop Tower not operating today. (SOB and the crypt didnt operate either). Thanks for reading!
  13. Exactly 40 years ago today, Kings Island opened up. So yeah, it opened up April 29th, 1972. Here we are, exactly 40 years later. It would be nice to celebrate the birthday at the park, but the private event is on again. Was anyone here on KIC by chance at KI for there official opening day in 1972? And, happy 40th birthday, Kings Island!
  14. Had an awful day. Due to my dad getting rear ended last night, we spent the day looking for cars to buy. His car was done. So, I did not get to go to opening day, and get $15,000 for a new (wait, it's used) car. I'm in a bad mood. Hope all of you folks had a great day at the park. I certainly didn't.
  15. So this is the last photo? Thanks for all of them, TOPGUN1993! And have a great season!
  16. Any thoughts if my baseball game in Hamilton at noon will/won't get rained out? I'm thinking yes because of rain over the past hour and the line of storms back to the west heading our way.
  17. It's finnaly time! I'm to excited! (Up at 5 on a Saaturday).
  18. Sounds good! But, I thought it was Germany in their. Not England.
  19. Watching news 5 now, hoping the rain holds up.
  20. TOPGUN1993, thank you so much for all the work put into this thread. The offseason is over in just 18 hours and 30 minutes. This was a great way for me to enjoy my offseason, and for it to pass by quicker. Also, thanks to standbyme for the entertainment in the first part of the offseason, with his "Standing within 3 feet of 1973" topic. The time has passed with these threads, because KI is about to open. Thanks for the threads, standbyme and TOPGUN1993!
  21. Thank you for all these great pictures! Just 2 more days! And, do you know why there is people on Deliriums test?
  22. For crowds, Saturdays are usually the busiest. Sunday's aren't nearly as bad, but you will still wait in some lines. In the summer, the middle of the week is the best time to go, and weekdayse in May and late August should be pretty empty. In October, Sundays are pretty empty, but you won't be able to take advantage of Halloween Haunt. That's some crowds advice I have.
