I'm assuming IE 11? IE 11 is known to cause the same problem on forums using XenForo. I believe the workaround is to right-click the quote button and open it in a new tab. More than likely so, I was using a new laptop and I believe it was IE11, now I'm back on my Chrome browser on my usual laptop.
