Here's what I think of Mystic Timbers. I voted that I'm excited but my mind isn't blown. This is one of the more family friendly coasters that we've seen over the years and I honestly don't have a problem with it. In my opinion, if Kings Island wanted to make this ride more intense then they would have. If you expect KI to come out with a new, highly intense thrill ride every couple of years then you were most likely somewhat disappointed when this ride was released. However, if you look at it as a more family style coaster then I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it. I say a family style coaster because basically anyone over 48" can ride it, its lower to the ground, and it has a curved drop. It's not the biggest coaster in Kings Island's line up, it's not the fastest, or the longest but it works for the park. But then again, I'm probably being too critical.

Has there been any word on the ride plaza up till this point? I personally want to see a pickup truck engulfed in vines and a couple of other props when you get closer to the station.

Almost Ten Years Of Cedar Fair!
SonofBaconator replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
I believe that Firehawk is a pretty impressive coaster but it has too long of a wait for the ride to be worth it, especially when you're at a park like KI where you could easily get on another, arguably better, ride in half the time. Like what fightoffear1996 said, I think it would have made a bigger impact on a smaller park like Michigan's Adventure. But then again, I'm probably being too critical. -
I was at the park today and I thought to myself, what would an alternate universe KI be like? Would Diamondback be a dive coaster instead of a hyper? Would Son of Beast still exist? Would ice cream be green instead of blue?? The possibilities are endless

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
SonofBaconator replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I can understand the speciation behind it but I don't think they'd shut down RFYLCB. If the ride was leaving, KI would make an announcement so that people could ride it a couple of times before the season ends. Unless they move the whole ride over by say the petting zoo, I'd say the ride's here to stay. Just a thought And upstop that's just a standard snapchat code -
Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
SonofBaconator replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
After riding the train on Friday and looking at the posts and theories on here I might have a pretty good idea of what might be happening. (This is based on speculation and opinion.) I think the "Falling Trees" signs foreshadow more of what is to come than we think. While everyone is thinking new ride, I'm thinking expansion and development. Rivertown is the park's biggest potential for expansion (besides X-Base (still praying)). With the relocation of Funnel Cakes as well as WWC's line, it is my assumption that KI has a lot in store. If you look at this picture, you can better understand what I'm talking about. If you look at the edit you can see that most of the trees between the WWC pond and the train station have been completely removed leaving room for a plethora of possibilities. What Rivertown is mostly lacking is flat rides so having more family friendly attractions and different types of thrills would be a great addition. Aside from the flat rides, there could be possibly more food stands, restrooms and resting areas. If you look to the right you will see that I outlined the defunct Crypt building just sticking out like a sore thumb. Cedar Fair has begun to experiment more with dark rides with Guardian at CW being introduced a little under a two years ago so I wouldn't out rule one at KI. If my theory was true, KI could give guests more of a theme park experience with the addition of a new dark ride to its already impressive roster of indoor rides. Though this isn't what I expect to see next year, I could count on it in the distant future as another phase. Sort of ting in to my previous theory, there is still an impressive amount of real estate behind the building that could be used for a coaster if needed. One thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet is the possibility of an underground coaster. How cool would it be to have a Hades 360 type ride tunneling under the valley and emerge completely immersed in the woods? (And I wasn't thinking about The Beast when I meant that) Finally if you look to the far left you can see Picnic Grove. From my experience of working at another popular Cincinnati attraction I can tell you that picnic areas take up a ton of space and are only truly used a couple times out of the season. Another thing is that picnic areas are cheaper to relocate if needed. So I could really see Picnic Grove playing a part in Rivertown (or even Planet Snoopy) expansion in the distant future. I could be completely off on this one but its just a thought. So let me know what you think about my speculation! -
Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
SonofBaconator replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Looking at online maps I can only speculate that KI will utilize the area behind the log flume and the woods by wwc. Falling trees?-possibly some KI deforestation or rather some type of ride that fully utilizes the forest scenery around it. And I know this is extremely far from reality but theres a huge chunk of trees between Beast and DB that could be utilized for expansion. I like to utilize the word utilize -
I kinda agree with all of you. Here's my take, the theming and the ride have to even out. I believe that a ride shouldn't have to rely on it's theming so much that the ride would suck if said theming was removed. Banshee is my favorite example as its a great ride with some really great theming-the lights, the mist, and the scream as you crest the lift hill (my favorite part). However, if those extra features weren't there, the ride would still be amazing nonetheless. The theming is good enough to where it enhances the rider's experience but it doesn't totally take away from the actual ride. But then again, the LIM in the white building greatly contradicts my point... My two pennies

We know that parks like Disney, Knotts, and even Seaworld use animation and special effects to enhance the rider's experience, but is that always the case? I know we have Adventure Express, Flight of Fear, and BLSC, but should KI and other parks like them invest in special effects or not?

Before you all get out your torches and pitchforks saying there's other threads like this let me get my say in. I'm studying to be a business marketing major so I'm approaching this topic from a business and demographic perspective. Speculation has been our drive to discover what's around the corner in Kings Island's future. However, there have been some speculations of future plans that seem almost inevitable to be true-water park expansions, ride additions, ride changes, etc. We look at other parks and compare it to our own, and vise versa, to predict the future. One of the best examples I can give is the speculation for a giga to come to KI in the near years. Hyper coasters are fun and intense but having a giga just adds that level of excitement to a park. Popular Cedar Fair parks like Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, and Kings Island are constantly coming up with new thrills to please their guests. So far, four out of the five parks I have mentioned all have gigas so the presence of a giga at KI is inevitable. Further more, Cedar Fair looks at its guests input to see what's best for the park. No, they're not going to RMC Mean Streak because you say please. What I mean is they look at the trend of certain rides, if the trend is bad, and see what they could do to fix it. Look at stand up coasters, over the years their popularity has decreased exponentially and its not getting better. Cedar Fair has been approaching this matter slowly but surely by either getting rid of or modifying some of their stand up coasters. So what I'm trying to say is that stand up coasters will most likely retire from the Cedar Fair coaster roster. So here's my analytical prediction of what's to come based on current knowledge- not what KI lovers want but what KI lovers need Giga addition before the 2020s hit so KI will be up to date with it's more popular sister parks I don't see a wooden coaster coming anytime soon because The Beast is so popular that nothing else would be able to live up to its reputation. Son of Beast was different because it paid tribute to The Beast and the two rides complemented each other because of the similarities in theme. Expansions in places that have poor attendance. I'm mainly referring to X Base because its probably one of the least visited sections of the park. There only reason people go to X Base is for Flight of Fear and Firehawk which have atrocious lines. Normally when there's large rides in an area, there's also restaurants, restrooms, games, smaller rides, etc. Each section of the park has its own identity except for X-Base which more or less piggybacks off of Coney Mall I'll probably think of some more as time goes on. What do you guys think? Please feel free to voice your opinion on whether what I've said is accurate or bubkis.

Do changes to a coaster/ride qualify it as new?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
I love Vekoma but am I the only one that would prefer Firehawk to be a B&M? -
I've been thinking recently of all the coasters and other rides in the amusement park industry that have been changed from their original state and came up with a central question- does the changes a park makes to a current ride qualify it as new? For example, would you consider a coaster like Rougarou new because of the complete change in name, colors, and cars? Or what about The Bat? The list could go on. What's your opinion?

Giga, they have a new game at ki that was named giga. This happed at KD before intimidator 305 debuted.

Thank you kindly

Forgive me if there is a similar thread but what are some thoughts about a giga coaster coming in the future? Centerion has been haunting me for months.

Besides the new color scheme, what else do you think will change about The Bat, (Former Flight Deck), in terms of cars, que music, he que in general, the station, etc?

It seems that the Intamin virus has became a growing epidemic that shows up everywhere. Am I the only one here who expects to see a post about Intamin every time I read a thread?
