  1. ^ no but since it is right next to the log flume where logs/trees fall all day, it could have absolutely nothing to do with whatever they are doing in the woods. And the DA rumor is at least plausible because what little tree cutting they are doing fits more with walking paths than it does any kind of ride path. And a major coaster fits more in the current DA location than where they are working now. Nothing is ruled out at this point.
  2. di·ver·sion (dĭ-vûr′zhən, dī-)n. 3. A maneuver that draws the attention of an opponent away from a planned point of action, especially as part of military strategy. The diversions are exactly where they are supposed to be.
  3. Based on what we are seeing, this makes more sense than anything else. Maybe squeeze a flat in there to be the "2017 addition" or even not have a 2017 addition and go all out for 2018. Or hell, I guess they could already be doing site prep back behind Dinosaurs Alive and it not have been noticed yet and it could still be a 2017 giga.(Edit: at least as of March 22nd they haven't unless you count that mysterious dirt patch behind Banshee) The fence and signs could just be a big diversion. Edit two: Actually, there's not a whole lot of clearing that needs to be done if they want to send it up towards the Banshee clearing. I deconstructed Leviathan and laid it in there and it fits in pretty well. Granted I don't know what the ground is like over there, but space and practicality-wise, it fits.
  4. FTFY Meh. Most everyone who I know that pours concrete calls them footers. It's a slang or regional thing on what you call them. I know footing is the proper terminology, but when you've been calling it one thing for 20 years, you usually just go with it.
  5. We'll see footers long before we see track at CSF if its a B&M.
  6. Unfortunately, Screamscape depends on very unreliable sources for info. Theres no way he can be tied into enough sources to have good info everywhere. I've seen him post speculation that a place was getting a certain ride after it had already been proven that they were getting something else. Great site for a snapshot of the industry, but for individual parks, you will usually get better info from sites like this.
  7. Didn't see it myself, but that would probably be installing the pumps mentioned earlier.
  8. Yeah I missed those poles and lines. Good catch. While my line went all the way to the substation, It could very well stop at the WWC power distribution point, and still be power for the new ride. Run new wires to WWC, then go through the newly cleared path through the woods. Or, if the poles are maxed out, they could need to run a whole new line. Hard to tell really since we are looking at aerials from when SOB was still there. Even the nearmap latest doesn't show much. If anything it looks like the clearing is parallel to the old WWC path, but jagged. And of course that doesn't show survey markers. Hell, this could all be for drainage or taking out the ash trees because of the beetles. Nothing is off the table at this point. I'd love to walk through those woods and eyeball this all myself. It might make it more clear what they are doing. Of course if I had permission to do that, I probably would already know what they are doing. lol Not necessarily. Survey markers are almost always temporary. As for color, I know that utilities use specific colors, but most the time survey crews just use pink flags for visibility. When I flag stuff out I usually just use whatever the place I'm buying them from has. I've wondered that myself. The initial hint coupled with the log flume getting tore out rumors kinda suggests a new log flume. Something like Dudley's at IOA would be pretty epic if they wanted to theme it out properly. But you are right about what the signs could really mean.
  9. While money can do wonders, for comparison's sake, here is Banshee's site from May 3rd the year before it opened. You can make your own conclusions. This is from the decoding 2014 post here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/27275-starting-to-decode-2014/?p=512542 We might have a winner here. At least about the power lines. Still not sold on a flat, but the power line idea seems to be spot on. To demonstrate: It lines up with rumored locations of some of the markers and would explain a narrow path through the woods. Good catch.
  10. Mine was the only post saying anything about it not being a coaster since his last post at 11 something this morning. He was addressing me. And in each case, his post was never directly above mine, so it is proper etiquette to at least quote his post to show which person I was addressing. About the you, your, and who you were talking to, as stated above, you were addressing me. No one else mentioned anything about it not being a coaster since your last post, so don't pretend you were doing some big public service post that had nothing to do with what I said. Are you trying to pretend it just popped back in your head after you had time to reflect? Good for you. I had all honors everything in high school too. Got accepted into honors programs at UK, UC, OSU. Top 1% of every standardized test I took from 5th grade through graduation, yada, yada. But I knew nothing about construction at that time, nor would I get on message boards and pretend I did. I never said you were stupid. I don't know you enough to tell if you are or aren't. You seem to be a know-it-all, but thats just from how you are acting on here. Trust me, once you get out of school, no one cares what your GPA was. or where you were in your class. No one but your mama. I said you'd be proven ignorant if you tried to talk like you know something about subjects you don't know. But you clearly aren't reading everything I'm saying, nor trying to address the actual things I said. If you don't like someone else's theory, use your own logic and disprove it. Don't sit there and act like a child and just regurgitate someone else's thoughts. Use critical thinking. I'm more than willing to engage in an intelligent discussion with someone who has their own thoughts of a subject. But acting like you know something when all you really have is other people's thoughts and ideas will not serve you well. Here or in life.
  11. Please list off one thing that makes you think it's going to be a coaster. lolThat wasn't my point. My point is please at least skim through the pages before posting your "unique" reason as to why it "definitely is/is not a coaster" because somebody else most likely said it earlier alreadyHello, at least read my post before accusing me of not reading anything. I've read every post in this thread. I've been posting in it since the beginning. I was here for the whole 2014 decoding thread. I definitely didn't say it definitely isn't a coster. I just said I don't think it is and listed out the reasons I don't think it is.I clearly said there is enough time to do it if they choose to. I didn't say there isn't enough room for a coaster. I said that taking out individual trees does not give them enough room for a ride path. I listed out facts about the construction process and why it limits their time for a 2017 opening. Are they still teaching reading comprehension in High School? Kids these days.... I never accused you of anything actually. I was just stating in general because it has occurred multiple times in this thread. It was more of a "hey everyone, please stop stating what's been stated 10 times already." You just assumed I was speaking to you because you were guilty of it.Did they even teach reading comprehension years ago? Adults these days... Your post 1463 quoted my post asking for you to list off why its a coaster. In response to me you said "My point is please at least skim through the pages before posting your "unique" reason as to why it "definitely is/is not a coaster" because somebody else most likely said it earlier already" Since you quoted and responded to me, and you used the word "your" that means you were addressing me. And in this post, you are saying I'm guilty of it, further showing you were addressing me. You were wrong, and just were trying to look like you know what you are talking about. Now you are trying to half backtrack and act like you weren't really responding to me because you have absolutely no background in anything construction related and have no clue how to accurately address my reasoning. All you can do is take things other people said and hope they were right. I mean you thought this was going to be a dark ride and now you are going to pretend to have any clue how to look at the site and figure out what they are doing? Being snarky might be cool with your friends, but if you are going to come on here and act like you know anything about anything, be ready to back it up. If you can't you will be shown how ignorant you are on what you are trying to talk about. If they start posting hints that suggest its a ride themed to To Kill a Mockingbird or we need to figure out a hypotenuse, feel free to chime in.

  14. The longer this goes without larger amounts of clearcutting, the less I think it's a coaster. Even though a coaster doesn't need as much space in one area as flats, it still needs space. Both for the station and for the ride path. You don't just go through tight paths of trees. Look how far they cleared around Diamondback. Even with a wood coaster you need room for support structure. Not just a single line of trees through the ride path. You need to rip the trunks and root structure out, and put dirt back in, and compact it/let it settle. That's not a very quick process for an area that has been wooded for decades. Now it could be about cutting paths so they could properly survey the path, but it's kinda late in the game to be doing that for 2017 isn't it? Yes theres plenty of time if that's the direction they are going, but it doesn't match what we've seen as far as construction schedules. I'm starting to wonder if this is just either prep for 2018 or something smaller for 2017. PR is about building excitement and increasing attendance. This is definitely doing that.
  15. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31791-land-clearing-near-sob-bolt-shed/ Here you go. From February.
  16. This is the view you would see from roughly the location of the new entrance for WWC, right?Edit: On second thought, this is up closer to where the old entrance was. Perhaps from the empty spot where the Funnel Cake building was? Right about there. I think it's just another red herring.
  17. This is going to be be so much like decoding 2014. The giga crowd will be proclaiming it's a giga all the way up to the announcement regardless what evidence says otherwise.
  18. Hulk is not a re-track, it is being replaced by the same ride. Everything is being replaced, the track, supports, launch, trains, even footers were ripped out and replaced. The problem is that doing this is just as expensive as building a new B&M. Might as well just build a new design unless you want the exact same ride again. The Hulk redo ended up being multifaceted. It's pretty much been confirmed that the footers were starting to deteriorate and needed to be fixed. Rather than tearing out the entire footer, they just cut out the upper portion and replaced that part. It's also speculated that its getting new trains. While not confirmed, that could lead to needing stronger supports or wider track. While the way they did it is cheaper and quicker than completely ripping it all out and building a whole new coaster, i would have thought they would have done a redesign on the back half of the ride for a few reasons. But I don't think much of what they did had to do with needing retracked.
  19. Fury 325 was Carowinds 38th anniversary. I hate to be "that guy", but out of respect for my home park, it was the 42nd anniversary. But it didn't look a day over 38? I'd blame wiki, but I just mis-added I guess. The thought still holds though, they aren't building anything specifically on anniversary years.
  20. Fury 325 was Carowinds 38th anniversary. The last coaster at Cedar Point that opened on a 5 or 10 anniversary was MF. Unless you count Rougarou. Leviathan was on CW's 31st anniversary. KD's intimidator did open on the 35th anniversary, but for the 40th, they got Soak City and lost shockwave. So unless you count every year as an anniversary year... Um M8 KI is getting a 1000 foot 226 mph mega extreme B&M for its 45.67537th anniversary. Don't deny the obvious!!! I'll ride it, but I'm not sitting in the front seat!

  22. Before Diamondback in 2009, KI got coasters in 2007, and 2005. Why do you suggest that 5 years is what the delay is supposed to be between coasters? If Cedar Fair says build a coaster, they are going to build a coaster. Backyard Trick Ride was a roughly $15 million-or-so dollar attraction from one management company, and Red Hot Robin was a ride relocation which cost I believe $12 million from another (someone correct me on those figures). Diamondback alone had a price tag of both prior rides combined. Yes, Cedar Point has a three-year gap between Gatekeeper and Valravn. Cedar Point is also the flagship of the company, so of course their idea of a "proper cycle" is considered moot (especially after the six-year drought between Maverick and Gatekeeper) and they can basically add a coaster whenever they please. Diamondback was $22 million. Banshee was $24 million. I'm not saying this is going to be a $30 million dollar B&M giga or anything. It could be a $15 million dollar woody or other coaster. Hell they could be relocating Dinosaurs Alive to make room for the giga...... (that actually makes some sense strangely), but you can't use history as a determining factor on whats going to happen in the future. I personally don't think it's a giga for a lot of reasons. I'd say I'm 80-90% sure it's not a giga. I'm not sold that its even a coaster, but I think it certainly could be. Yeah, 5 year plans just means they plan 5 years out. It doesn't mean that every 5 years you have coaster, flat, water ride, general improvements, kids ride, and keep cycling through in order. It could mean a coaster every year for 5 years or no coasters in that time. It just means you plan 5 years out what you are going to do.
  23. Before Diamondback in 2009, KI got coasters in 2007, and 2005. Why do you suggest that 5 years is what the delay is supposed to be between coasters? If Cedar Fair says build a coaster, they are going to build a coaster. Enough of this "it would look weird" or "2 coasters can't be next to each other". That is fanboy crazy talk. Geez, you act like they need to use feng shui or something. If they put a coaster in there, just enjoy the thing. A true enthusiast will ride anything, not caring what it looks like, where it's located. They will come to ride it. Mic drop....... And what about crowd flow and other logistical concerns? Are those not reasons to not build a giga there? Don't let what you want, get in the way of what makes sense. Might want to look into some non-slip gloves if you are having trouble holding that mic.....
  24. Yeah i wasn't sure if you were just a not so bright girl who falls for anything your husband tells you or just trolling the boards. Thanks for clearing that up!
  25. That's just how the ride is. The lines get extremely long because it's so popular, and it just doesn't have good capacity. There's a lot of trains, but they're small, and running a bunch of small trains takes more time to load/unload than running 3 big trains. You could probably ride Mean Streak 10 times in the time it takes to ride Maverick once... Last year I walked on to Mean Streak but Maverick's line was almost 3 hours.Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk To ride Mean Streak 10 times would take years. You'd have to spend months in traction between each riding..... Just so you understand, either your husband is guessing and has no more knowledge about whats coming as the rest of the people guessing on this board, or, he does know, and when Don(Kings Island's PR person) reads this, your husband is going to lose his job for violating a non disclosure agreement. You might want to clarify which one it is with him before you go any further.
