  1. They aren't going to have a press conference to say their big 2016 addition is new toll booth or entrance. The only scenarios where Racer would be going anywhere would be if they were going to RMC it(which is not likely to happen for 2016), or if they were tearing it out for another coaster. If its for another coaster, it would be the 2017 addition as we would have seen work started by now if it was for 2016. But, if it was for 2017, they might need to start tearing Racer down in the offseason, so they want to give people a chance to ride it. If thats the case, they will still need to do something in that area for 2016 for their press conference to make sense. Can't announce a 2017 ride this early, and they've said its #Newfor2016. But really I think Racer is safe for now. I think the Coney Mall refurb is the most likely scenario. Probably get a new flat or a few even like Cedar Point got a couple years ago. Might lose a couple in the process to make room. Which would explain the timing. "Ride this for the last time", otherwise, a Coney Mall refurb would likely be a later announcement.
  2. Sounds like Monster to me.
  3. Terp has been dropping hints that could be about Vortex's demise this Summer. Terp is also one of those people that could have inside info about whats coming to the park. just sayin Terp is also the kind of poster who could purposefully unintentionally mislead people. so who knows? besides Terp
  4. Very meh layout to me. Drop, Immelman, midcourse? Might be a great ride, but you'd think that as long as this style of coaster has been out that it would be more ambitious.
  5. I was at Cedar Point last week. Rougarou was a walk on. TTD, Maverick, MF, and Gatekeeper all had longer waits. Some of that is capacity I'm sure, but there didn't seem to be much excitement for the ride.
  6. I think for crowd distribution reasons, the next big coaster will go either in X base, or at least back in that corner of the park. Right now you have Banshee drawing people to the front left corner and Diamondback drawing people over to the right side of the park. Its better to distribute the guests throughout all areas of the park and that back right corner, even with Vortex and WindSeeker there, doesn't seem as crowded. Now what type of coaster, I think the giga is probably next on the agenda and would would be a good change of pace for that area of the park. A wing coaster is always possible, but less likely imo. A new woodie isn't out of the question, but when was the last time Cedar Fair built a woodie? Now if they decide to do entrance gate interaction like they appear to be doing at some parks now, anything is possible.
  7. Screamscape is saying KI is getting a new Flying Scooters next year. Speculation?
  8. I'd say that Cedar Fair has a five year plan for what they are going to build and where. Does that mean that's what they end up building? No. Budgets, attendance, and a lot of other factors can change things. But I'd be surprised if they didn't at least have an idea what they were planning that far out. I would say that from the initial discussions with B&M to ride opening on a ride like Banshee there would have to be at least a 2-3 year period, so its not much of a stretch to say they'd know what they were wanting to do in 2019.
  9. The original reports from the council meeting about this ride used Gatekeeper pics and suggested it was a wing rider, so its very possible its a giga wing rider.
  10. I think if someone offers you an unwanted high five, you should counter with a down low, too slow. That'll teach them! lol
  11. A B&M Strata that has an inversion at the top of the hill :-D
  12. Last time I rode it, it felt like someone had taken a jackhammer to my lower spine.
  13. With this recent trend(assuming the Carowinds rumors are correct) of CF doing coasters that interact with the park's main gate area, I think a Dive Machine that dove into a hole outside the main gates would be pretty freaking cool. Now if they could just make it a strata too.....
  14. I actually have no shirts from KI. Dont think I ever did as well. Im the odd ball here, I know and you would probably never be invited back. There are some hills worth dieing on. Is the logo of your shirt really worth fighting? Yeah, if I drove over an hour to the park and was denied entry because of a logo less than an inch wide at the end of a sleeve, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be concerned with being invited back again.
  15. I'm not going to media day, but if they refused me entry for having a small logo on a shirt that was for the brand of shirt(ie the champion logo), I would insist that they throw everyone out who has the much larger Nike logo exposed on their shoes. Not that I think they are going to care about tiny clothing brand logos. But hey, after seeing how they respond to some of the stuff that goes on on this board, nothing would surprise me.
  16. Shameles plug time http://Vortex.beansisland.com/pics/KI/Banshee Thanks! On a somewhat related note, has anyone seen the coaster valleyed at any point on any of the webcam shots? I'd assume that, at some point, they'd want to test the procedures for evacuating a valleyed train and then getting it unvalleyed. Just wondered if they actually have done it.
  17. Gah, Davidw's site has stopped caching webcam pics. I usually don't get home till after dark, so I've been using it as a way to keep up. Anyone else caching them out there?
  18. I wouldn't wish that name on anyone, but I had an ex who had more riders than Banshee probably has...
  19. I see the TOS referenced on this forum more than all of the forums I have ever been on.... combined!
  20. Night testing is not unheard of at theme parks. There is nothing to "lock up" in the bottom of the Batwing. They will be able to tell if the train does not make it back to the station. The computer will most likely shut down in the event of a valley. Night testing sure. But how often is the first test ever of a ride at night? So a bearing can't lock up? A wheel can't be bad from the factory? Things happen and things do lock up. Thats why they test these things before putting people on them. If it does valley, don't you think they'd rather have daylight to see how close it was to making it? I'm sure they'd rather go ahead and start getting it winched back to the station than leave it valleyed all night and have to do it the next day.
  21. I really can't imagine them doing the first tests at night. If something does go wrong, they need to be able see exactly when and where it goes wrong. If they test at night and in the bottom of the Batwing it locks up, they aren't going to be able to tell what happened. If they really want it to be ultra secret and have no one see, they would just kill the cams and test.
