  1. Ay yai yai People are entitled to their opinion. Why even have a discussion forum if we all agree...not much to discuss. Why have a discussion forum if ideas aren't allowed to be criticized? Fanfiction.net is that-a-way. ---> I wouldn't necessarily consider "ay yai yai" a well-crafted criticism to the original comment. It's over now...moving on.
  2. I am on both sides of the argument then. I am one who wants a Giga at Kings Island, but I don't think they will be receiving one in 2017 Same here...I would love a giga but I think the arguments for one not going in Rivertown are valid. That's not to say they "can't" put one there, or that I don't necessarily want one there. I trust the park would make it work well, if they wanted to (and with enough $$$).

  4. Thanks for the info. Those in the know have much better info than those who make educational guesses!
  5. I'm a civil engineer with a focus in storm water quality and I know some about water treatment in general. I don't know anything about the inner workings of WWC so what I'm about to say may be completely off base, and I would never want to use my background to sound like a know-it-all. My guess is that the pond not only collects water runoff from the area but also acts as a treatment pond. Most runoff from a wooded area is relatively clean to begin with but sitting in a pond helps even more, with most sediment and pollutants dropping to the bottom floor. If they are pulling water from the top, it would be very clean to begin with. Adding a concrete bottom would do very little to further clean the water and would be covered with sediment in a few months anyway. The park likely drains the pond every year and pulls the collected sediment out of the bottom to make room for more the following year. I'm also guessing that once WWC pulls this water from the pond there is another filter or screen (or series of filters) that further clean the water before being sprayed or splashed onto us, the giggling public. Again, I know nothing specifically about how WWC works but we can all rest assured they are using clean water to drench us.
  6. Does anybody know how Mack launched coasters compare to Intamin? How is Helix on capacity and reliability? Anyone been to Sweden? Possibly CF would work with Mack. I'm curious how the product compares to Intamin.
  7. To me it's not about whether or not a wooden coaster goes next to The Beast or a steel coaster goes next to Diamondback. It's more about the best use of the land available. Kings Island has always used their terrain and landscapes very well and to me a very quick, launched (multi-launch) coaster that stays relatively low to the ground and swoops around the trees, using the terrain is very appealing in that particular space. A GCI twister would also be a good fit to me. A giga there would feel a bit forced and not fit well with the theme and flow of the area IMO (especially with Diamondback there already). But if they chose to put one there I'm sure I'd find a way to thoroughly enjoy it
  8. I love this idea Beast Gal. Likely my preferred option too, but from what I hear on these boards, highly unlikely from Intamin.
  9. Well, we are all certainly doing what the sign says...watching for falling trees. Quite intently.

  11. Oh no, is RMC going to do a retrofit on Firehawk?!!!
  12. I know, I love The Racer! It was a quick post at work and my mind was racing (no pun intended). Backward Racer, back seat all day baby (maybe I'll get to do it again someday).
  13. D'oh, I always forget about Indiana Beach (shame on me). Point taken, but I still want a new woodie at KI. I think more than anything I'd like to see either a GCI or Intamin, which I think we are short on in this region regardless of those woodie-rich parks in that state to the west. I guess RMC would be nice too but (let the controversy begin) I'm a little old school and feel like inverting woodies are a little gimmicky. I haven't ridden an RMC yet so I'm not speaking from experience.
  14. ^^I haven't ridden Mean Streak in a while but hated it last time I rode it (not only rough, but I thought the pacing was slow...beautiful coaster to look at, though). I have heard that CP has recently done some work to restore it and it's been running better as of late, I need to check it out again. I guess my point is outside of Holiday World, where's the nearest legit post-Y2K woodie?
  15. I'm surprised that only a few people have mentioned something wooden so far. I think a new wooden twister coaster (not in 2015, but in the near future) would be a great addition. It would also be good for this market, since Ohio is really hurting for some good/new woodies. I love The Beast but outside of that, what else is there in Ohio (love The Racer too)?
  16. What's a good crowd estimate for a weekday (Wed. or Thurs.) In early June? I'm hoping pretty light, I'm hoping for at least 2 rides on Banshee without sacrificing the rest of my day. I went on a sunny weekday the week after Memorial Day the year DB opened and the most I waited for it was 30 minutes. I was shocked.
  17. I'm so jealous of you guys. Have a good time, everyone. I'll be making it down for the first time this year in early June.
  18. Looking at stats alone, I think it has a shot at topping Montu (faster, taller, larger elements). My only concern is the whole debate of recent-model B&M's being "forceless" compared to older B&M's. To me it'll be all about the pacing and how it goes through those huge elements. There's potential for it to float through the elements, due to their size. If it feels out of control despite its hugeness...best invert in the world. Can't wait to compare it!
  19. First post...long-time stalker. Speaking of the Golden Ticket Awards, where do you predict Banshee will land in the 2014 top 50 steel, compared to other inverts? The 2013 GT Awards had: #18 - Montu #20 - Nemesis #25 - Alpengeist #30 - Raptor #34 - Black Mamba #35 - Afterburn #39 - Volcano, The Blast Coaster BTW, I'm not a huge fan of the GT awards. I think they are skewed in their awards, but they are the staple in the amusement industry.
