  1. They told me on Twitter that t-shirts will not be given out during ERT tomorrow.

That seems like a mess... Everything I've seen said the first 40 trains on Saturday...
I mean honestly, how many people come on opening day who don't have a gold pass???

  2. Food service today was pretty good, although crowds were light.
I street la Rosa had both sides open, so checkout was quick.

The line at Coney BBQ was long but moved pretty well... Until the cashier.
Cashiers were quick with normal payments and dining plans, but when people wanted to add on all season drinks it seemed to really slow down the check out.

I wish early season they would open express checkout lines for dining plan and credit card customers only... And people paying cash or wanting to add a drink plan could use a slower line (which they could staff with a more experienced cashier or manager)

  3. I heard them as well and confirmed they were from KI. My guess is that they were practicing the show for tomorrow night... But since it's just a practice they didn't need to wait until 10pm to do it, a that's later for the employees to be out, and it's more annoying for residents.

I'm hopeful this is another indication that the fireworks will be even better than ever this year, with the addition of the new fountains.

  4. Got to experience carowinds yesterday.
Wow, their food was top notch... And it was day 3 of normal operation.
Service was a little slow... But I didn't encounter a single person at a register that truly had no clue what they were doing.

Harmony house is a dining plan parents dream... You mean every member of my family can get exactly what they want and I only have to wait in one line?

And options of really good salads... Like one with rice, beans, quinoa, cheese, and greens with my choice of smoked meat.

  5. This is also my family's first summer of platinum after many gold seasons at KI.

We planned our spring break trip to myrtle beach last week so that we could hit carowinds on the way home!

Have an epic road trip planned the first week of June where we'll do 10 days and hit:
Carowinds, kings dominion, dorney park, knoebels (it looks inexpensive and it's literally on the way), & Canada's wonderland.

A trip already planned for Cedar Point, although I'm sure there will be more.

A trip to southern California where we plan to do:
Legoland, knotts, & six flags magic mountain.

Last year we had 50 visits to Kings Island... With all the other parks/trips, I expect this year to be less... But we'll still probably get in 30+ trips or so depending on what the weather is like in the fall and winter.

I'm very happy we decided to do season platinum dining!

  6. The cost to you to upgrade will actually be the current price of platinum, minus the price you actually paid for gold.

So if you got the gold when they were cheaper, or on a discount buyout day, the delta between current platinum what you paid may be higher than current platinum and current gold prices.

Same will apply to your dining plan... You'll need to pay current platinum dining price minus the actual gold dining price that you paid when you bought it.

But yes, you can do it.

  7. At least KI offers gold.
At CP the only options are season pass (without free parking) or platinum pass.

That said, I do think it would be nice if all the parks had a perk for platinum passes.... But honestly getting entry and "gold perks" at every park seems good enough for me.

  8. The "snow" I've seen on international street is actually tiny soap bubbles. I have seen actual snow machines at KI.

I would imagine the soap water would freeze and doesn't work if the temperature drops too low... Perhaps that's why you haven't seen it.

  9. We absolutely loved the buffet. I was really talking it up on Facebook and I guess I was in the minority, must people were saying it's not worth it, they ran out of everything, food was cold, and for us it was completely opposite, we went early which I think is what we will do anytime we go because it was fantastic for us, I'm so glad there are some new options and that they finally did something for dining plan guests.

What's the buffet option for dining plan?

  10. As Winterfest is more about the experience of the lights and entertainment, I do not believe that there is any early ride time during Winterfest.  Just as there are no Fastlane passes sold during Winterfest.  (The Fast Lane line for Mystic Timbers is once again a Single Ride Line during Winterfest).

I figured that, but the way I read the website was that there is early ride time for every public opening day, except Fridays of Haunt & (Fridays of) winterfest.

But I guess it's actually supposed to read more like: except Fridays of Haunt & (all of) winterfest.

  11. Great wolf is expensive...
Especially in the winter (as people seek indoor entertainment)...
Especially on weekends (we people are available).

You can often get deals on week nights... But rarely weekends.

You could just do a night there.. And then mix in another hotel and other indoor activities during the day.

  12. Yea. Driving up at 7 it was pretty bad and blustery.  Didn’t figure that in. Just didn’t think the temp was low enough to shut down. Odd that back lot and racer stayed open.

Backlot and racer are not near any trees that could potentially fall.. They also aren't as tall as most of the other coasters.

  13. I live 5 minutes from the park. We have power, but there are lots of outages... So it could be power related..

But there's also a ton of down trees and branches all over... So my guess is that would close any ride that is near a tree. I saw that a tree fell over today at Cedar Point at the antique car track... Not sure how fast word of that spreads within the chain, but certainly makes me understand why they wouldn't be running rides near trees.

  14. Works great!
Also I may suggest taking a screen shot of the QR code it generates for your pass in case there are any connectivity issues.

From the app, you can simply add your pass to pass book, then you don't need to load the app or rely on conductivity. At least for iPhone.

  15. My opinion is no.
I'm assume he's traveling from Cincinnati airport to Lebanon... Which means 71 will close, at least in one direction...

But I don't think many people will be deterred by having to wait, so the overall attendance won't be impacted.

  16. I am trying to remember, when did they start setting up that tree last year?

It was up prior to the end of haunt last year.
I think last year, people liked it, as it signified a new addition... Winterfest.

For the same reason, I'm fine with it starting to be set up early.

Also note that the haunted entrance gate started to be set up at the entrance prior to the haunt starting.

  17. Hit the park during the day Saturday and checked out the Mac and cheese bar. No line around noon.

Took some pictures of the menu offerings.63cea19dfb7fd0a9b3f1b1f50bdb3c0f.jpgeaba44ff5308b7a91cc7c85b4157adf9.jpg3ad9ee3c0609e9d2d02a88edaaafba32.jpg108313347dfb0cb89a892c61617af98c.jpg9012bb04d3448c0569ea2d778ecde20e.jpg

Slightly disappointed the tater tots are not gluten free, but I love how the other items are labeled, so my celiac family members may give it a try with no base ingredient.
