Yeah, granted it would be nice to put a car our front of every coaster/ride to see if people fit correctly but then it's just not feasible everywhere. Moreover, it is in Quebec. The laws there are VERY different than in the USA. And how this lawsuit will end up is a very good question indeed. I bet there is a reason the US Six Flags parks have size restrictions posted and test seats, while that Canadian park apparently does not. Gordon Bombay Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Now I'm not trying to be mean here towards anyone of larger size as I myself and pretty big and not in the best of shape, but maybe instead of getting all teary eyed and suing he should take this as a time to see there no needs to be change in his life and maybe lose some weight and start to get in shape. Last summer I went to Cedar Point and I fit on everything but I noticed how I could hardly get anymore slack on the seatbelt of Millenium Force and I thought about how I didnt want to have to worry about that anymore so now every night before I go to bed and when I wake up I usually do some exercise and on my days off work I try to go run for awhile while listening to music and overall throughout my life I've been trying to eat better. I think this is a sign of a true roller coaster junkie. I myself am overweight and I have been encouraged to lose weight because I was starting to have a hard time fitting in roller coasters. I'm happy to say that this year I am having no trouble at all fitting and it is great! Last year two ride ops had to staple me into Flight of Fear. I am trying to get my fiance' to lose a little weight as she could not ride Millennium Force this summer and she wanted to ride really bad. It kinda made me mad that the MF ride ops wouldn't even try to help her. He just stood there with his arms folded shaking his head no. At least on Dragster, they made an attempt and she fit. It's a lot harder to put into words or quantitate who will and won't fit because you can be the same weight as someone else but the weight can be distributed differently and one may fit while the other may not. I find it pretty awesome that people have found it hard to fit on coasters and then decided it was time to change. "We talk all the time about reasonable accommodation... well, 25, 30 per cent of the population is bigger or obese, and we continue to be discriminated against," argues McGuigan. Well I think 75, 70 percent of the population is a pretty reasonable number that's accommodated. But if the attendant did snicker and call the man "too fat" that's not acceptable. Help her what? Force into a ride that she could not fit into? Sounds like a claim in the making. I can here an injured person say now, "Yes, the ride operator forced the lap bar onto me."
