DeLorean Rider Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I was just surfing online collecting photos of these compact coasters that dont make any right or left turns. Which would you prefer the most? Coaster A Intamin 4D Coaster Coaster B Intamin Half Pipe Coaster Coaster C X-Car Coaster Coaster D Impulse Coaster ^This includes Wicked Twister Type Coasters Aswell^ Coaster E Togo Ultra Twister Coaster F S&S Screamin Squirell Quote
Dvo Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I like Coasters D and F a lot. The screamin squirrel (F) looks like a TON of fun, but it also looks like there would be serious capacity issues. I bet the line would move TERRIBLY slow. I think an impulse twister (D) would fit really well for KI. Those are very fun coasters. Though they too have slow-moving lines. Quote
teenageninja Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I'm going to say C then D. The X car coasters are totally unique, and I hear the restraints are very comfortable. Impulse coasters are fun, but we already have a shuttle coaster as is. The half pipe is too much like avatar. Quote
Dvo Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Where did my vote go?? I voted for D and it says 100% voted for A. Cheater! Quote
KIfan73 Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I voted D, but the half-pipe coaster themed to Tony Hawk or the X-Games would be sweet. Would it fit where DOT is? Would tie in well with the "Action" Zone. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I vote for none of the above. Frequent Faller as was to be installed at Hersheypark, please. Quote
beastrider97 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I voted for Half Pipe before I saw the photos but now I have to say the Scremin Squirrel! Quote
DeLorean Rider Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 I guess this is a downside of the X-Coaster, lol: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/10/...in2908687.shtml Quote
KIBeast Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I like Coasters D and F a lot. The screamin squirrel (F) looks like a TON of fun, but it also looks like there would be serious capacity issues. Are you sure about slow moving lines for Impulse coasters? Wicked Twister at Cedar Point never has more than a fifteen minute wait and I'm always amazed at how quickly the line moves. Quote
Dvo Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Wicked Twister at CP always has a short line because relative to the other roller coasters, it's not the premier ride in the park. Wheras V2 at Six Flags Great America has 45 minute waits on a regular basis because it's one of their best rides. Quote
welchce Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I guess this is a downside of the X-Coaster, lol: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/10/...in2908687.shtml That's exactly why I didn't vote for it lol The Screamin' Squirrel just looks weird. I was thinking about going Impulse but since there's one at CP and other parks around I went with the Half-Pipe because it looks pretty awesome. Quote
DeLorean Rider Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 The screamin squirell would probably be similar to a wild mouse in terms of wait. I cant imagine any of them being much longer of a wait than Face/Off and even thats not too bad. As with everything, lines depend on when you go. Quote
tubaman Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I guess this is a downside of the X-Coaster, lol: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/10/...in2908687.shtml No, it's the Upsidedownside of them. And, I'm sorry for the bad joke. I'd like an Impulse coaster, they are fun, IMO. Quote
Jasper Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I voted for impulse coaster because i have never rode the rest of them, but that halfpie and screaming squirrel look pretty cool. I was also wondering how that 4D coaster works. Quote
DropZone99 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I would say A or F. They both look awesome, and are very unique. =] Quote
Vortex Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I voted for Intamin 4D Coaster its different and not alot of parks will have them. I know its not listed but I like to see some kind of Gerstlauer Euro Fighter. Quote
Racerrider Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 if we do get d, hopefully it will twist on both sides like wicked twister unlike that picture of steel venom that was at GL (formerly 6flags ohio and worlds of adventure) but Cedar Fair moved it to valley fair in minnesotta Quote

Valleyfair has had their Impulse Coaster longer than that. I rode it two years ago, to start with! It was installed in 2003!!!! http://www.rcdb.com/id1920.htm The one at Geauga Lake is widely believed to be going to Dorney Park. And I prefer the rides with the spike, not the twisted end. Interestingly enough, perhaps the best one was originally like Geauga Lake's but had to be modified as it was too high for the local zoning ordinance: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1143.htm?picture=8 V2: Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. DeLorean Rider Posted August 21, 2007 Author Posted August 21, 2007 The impluse coaster shown is of Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Great America. I agree with The Interpreter about the straight rear tower being better than the twisted ones, both for the lack of the nausiating spin, and for the stop at the top. I remember being at Six Flags Marine World or Discovery Kingdom when their V2 was being "redesigned". How did they think they could get away with building a 186ft coaster in a 150ft zoned area .
