September 7, 200718 yr Yeah. I saw this article at lunch. Hard to believe that Kings Island`s parking prices were the same as Disney`s. But the difference is that Disney orchestrates their parking very well, directing you to your spots and offering shuttles to the park gates. The latter of which is a tradition that has all but fallen silent at Kings Island, likely a result of cost cutting.
September 7, 200718 yr Trams should just basically be a part of good service. Very sad so many parks have done away with them.
September 7, 200718 yr Universal raised their parking several months ago. I am surprised it took this long for Disney to match the price hike. Although this makes paying for parking a mess because of the need to make change.
September 7, 200718 yr Ha wow. Six Flags Great America charges $15 per car, and they have no trams, and a MASSIVE parking lot that makes the walk to the entrance really long. Stupid Chicago and their insane prices... >: (
September 7, 200718 yr Trams should just basically be a part of good service. Very sad so many parks have done away with them. I agree. I was at the Columbus Zoo a few weeks ago (the first time since the new parking lot was put in), and they've actually added parking trams for the new lot set-up. Granted I was there on a Saturday, but they were well staffed in the parking lot and doing a good job of directing traffic. It reminded me of the way KI used to be!
September 7, 200718 yr The trams at Disney are needed though. When you park at any of the Disney parks your almost always a long distance from the gates. At the Magic Kingdom the entrance was designed to make you feel like your entering another world so an artificial lake was dug and you have to take either a boat or a monorail from the tram stop to the entrance of the park. For anyone wondering the dirt from the lake was actually put on top of where the Magic Kingdom was built and your standing on the second floor of the park. Every street in the park has a tunnel under it built at the original ground level so trash, goods, employees, etc. can move around the park without the guests knowledge. Most of the time I don't mind the lack of trams at Kings Island because while large its not that long of a walk to get to the entrance. On busy weekends and holidays the park should have trams running.
September 7, 200718 yr I feel that the trams were a saftey issue in the parking lot. I felt that people running from their cars or the exit gate to make the trams would be a huge safety issue people rushing and not loooking where they are going. The 2nd thing is it takes mainance, a few workers, gasoline to run those trams and come on America we can walk to some places! Yea the trams were nice after a long day walking around but I don't find the nessary.
