No Re-entry at Six Flags New England Halloween Event

Featured Replies

It's terrible how Six Flags is such a mixed bag of getting things right and completely wrong. I honestly believe that Shapiro is what that company needs to pull itself together. Here's an idea: give the guests a good value for their money so they're enticed to spend their money on the grounds instead of leaving.

So, it's terrible when Six Flags does it, but fine when Knott's Berry Farm does? Re-entry isn't allowed at Knott's during its Halloween Haunt:

...Halloween Haunt hours 7pm-1am, 2am on Fri. & Sat.

Not recommended for children under 13. No re-entry. No costumes. ...

^ While I don't like either way the parks are not allowing re-entry, KBF is not as bad.

Only because, thier Halloween event is a set 7:00pm start. The park is not open earlier than that. Whereas at SFNE there is no re-entry after 4:00pm, yet the park is open all day.

How long has KBF had this policy?

I believe since 9/11 [2001]. I remember there was quite a hullabaloo when it was announced.

Kings Island did the same thing during grad nights. I believe the theory is that boisterous groups of teens shouldn't be allowed to go out to their cars, do whatever they might do out there, then go back in the park.

^ While I can understand why you wouldn't want some people going back to their cars (extra-curricular activities), then have more security on hand to police the parking lot and the main gate.

Don't put out people that don't deserve it.

Your security guards can only do so much man. Here is my view on the issue. If they made there food for a meal like $7 at fast food quality I would be happy and probaly be willing to spend $7 or even $8 per meal in the park. What gets me is you get $4 for one stinking slice of pizza and another $4 for a large drink. $8 for one crappy slice of pizza and a drink. That is horrible and is starting to get out of control. Maybe if they lowerd the prices people would buy more. Burger King has cheap prices and look at them. Heck even look at McDonalds with the $1 DOUBLE cheeseburger.

Price is not the issue in my eyes. Amusement parks are businesses... and they are very good at having your cornered into purchasing from them. I wouldn't mind spending a lot on food under those circumstances if the food wasn't horrible in some cases.

But if they cannot even patrol their own parking lot, how safe is the park to begin with?

Not giving people the right to leave because the park cannot control the parking lot is a HUGE issue.

SFNE is saying that you should have no reason to leave the park for over 8 hours.

Is the decision due to safety, or making more money?

Uhm, I read the link and dont see anything where SFNE is saying they are unable to patrol their own parking lot.

It's kinda like stadiums do.

Can't go to any professional events (that I know of) where you can leave the stadium and get back in.

Except at a Staduim you usually only there a few hours out of the day say 3 or 4 hours at the most. However at a themepark you usually there all day.

No re-entry after 4pm is a few hours.

My point is, if the park does not allow people to re-enter due to concerns about what individuals are going to do in the parking lot, then perhaps the park needs to have more security present to try and curtail extra-curricular activities.

Granted, you can't stop everything. But why stop a person from going back their car for a legitimate reason? 4 hours is one thing, but 8 hours is a whole different ball of wax.

I am purely speaking hypothetical here:

If someone is on a strict diet due to diabetis, and they need to eat every 2 hours, but you will not allow them to go back to their car to eat, now you are forcing them to eat in the park with outrageous prices. It just does not seem right.
