If KI had 24-hour days.

What would your opinion be if Kings Island had a couple of days in the summer where Kings Island was open for 24 hours?

I would love it! That would be nice to ride Drop Zone at 2 AM. And the park wouldn't be crowded because a lot of people would be sleeping and wouldn't come.

I love this idea and I wish it could happen sometime.

I always thought that KI should have some days during the summer in which they were open really late. Maybe 2am or so. Of course that runs into its own problems in itself. I do, however, think that it would be a good move for people who want to enjoy the park in late July or August but don't want to deal with extreme heat.

24 hours? Nah, it wouldn't work. They don't have the staffing or guest base to support that.

Chances are, they would probably run into the same problems that they are right now with the minors at Halloween Haunt, and they'd have to leave early. But if they could somehow do it, that would be AWESOME! though I'm sure not very beneficial at all. Not many people would stay into the wee hours of the night riding rides, and it would cost them a fortune to staff the park for so few people. Not a good business idea.

Not a good idea.... I could see staying open later than 10 like in years previous, but have fun trying to staff the park.

My suggestion for you is, if you want to stay at Kings Island as late as you can, get into the Firehawk line just a minute or two before 10 since the rides people aren't allowed to close the lines till whenever close is that night.

There were still guests in the park as of 2:30am on Saturday.

Could you imagine if you went into Macy's a couple minutes before close and stay for an hour and a half after closing time?

Yes your right. During the 20th Anniversary Special when Jason was standing in front of The Beast sign, you could still see the sign that read something like this, "It may be necessary to close some ride lines prior to the park closing hour" I honestly don't remember what the sign said. It may have has something to do with popularity. But remember back in the day, it was very common for The Beast line to go all the way back to the Restrooms in Rivertown.

For many, many years, the park cut off The Beast line such that the last riders would be riding as the park closed. I believe it was Paramount who ended that practice.

True for the most part. When I worked at Drop Zone in 1999, we had to close the line down early an hour or so prior to the park's advertised closing time. Yes, I did get a few upset guests when we were doing that. On the other hand, Holiday World still closes their lines early when necessary, at least the last time I visited in Aug. 2006.

Now I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair allows you to enter the line right until the "closing time," as it is especially true at Cedar Point, especially Millennium Force, where you could still enter a 2-hour line at 9:59. Personally, I like the idea of getting in line for Firehawk at KI about 10 minutes prior to a 8 or 9pm close... I'd be in the line for an hour, but it beats doing nothing, and especially waiting for it another time, when I could be doing more rides within the same time frame.

If Kings Island had the human and financial resources to do a 24-hour operation, I think they could, but don't hold your breath.

You can even get in line at 10:07 and be okay! ;) Most major rides at CP keep their lines open 8 minutes after the park's scheduled closing time as a courtesy. (When you're the employee working entrance, though, those 8 minutes realllllly crawl by)

Six flags over Georgia used to have days it stayed open all night . At 5am all the video games in the arcades were free for a few hrs. This was about 23 years ago. I remember it well I lived about a 1/2 mile away and had a season pass. My brother and I pretty much lived at the park those summers.
