Vortex
Cincinnati will NEVER host a Super Bowl. Well the truth is the Cincinnati could have a had Super Bowl if it had a Dome. The team wanted grass at the time so no dome and Super Bowl. Also Riverfront was designed to have a dome but they never built it.

WooferBearATL
So Interp..... We see that you tend to believe that sharing beverages at the park (with one wrist band is theft) why do you feel that utilizing this "Bugmenot" site as being theft? WooferBearATL
One can certainly argue that it is . . . And to me, actually doing that is worse than sharing a beverage with a friend or family member. A web site asks for a log on and some times a small fee for what is for all intents a creative product and/or art. This could be compared with someone allowing you to use their season pass to enter a park.
The Interpreter
Not once have I ever suggested bugmenot.com for any website that asks for a small fee or even identifying data. The wrist bracelets for drinks are not free. Not even close. There is a difference here, and in more than just degree... Sharing a nearly seven dollar all you can drink 'buffet' is far different than sharing a log on to a website anyone can access free.
pkimike
Interpreter or anybody that might know, I have been wondering something and with the situation at Great America it seems like this is an appropriate place to put this. Realistically how much money do you think CF can get for the Geauga Lake property? It seems to me if they can get a good bit of money for GL and can get the $110 million for GA it would go a long way in getting them back in good financial standing. What do you think? The Interpreter
It's hard to say....it will definitely be a negotiated amount, if it happens...and much depends on how badly Santa Clara wants the 49ers there....understand that Cedar Fair has only a lease on the property, but a lease that could tie up this matter for years.... But even if they do not ask for monetary payment, they do ask you to register. By using bugmenot.com, someone is bypassing the payment (all be it not monetary) that the website asks for. I looked one time at the locations of all the Super Bowls and it's either been in a warm weather climate year round area or a dome... sometimes both. So much for the cold being "football weather." Nice how Indianapolis is replacing the RCA Dome with a new retractable roof stadium. Sure the Dome was climate controlled, but it was the smallest NFL facility, it had many bleacher seats, no escalators, etc. Lucas Oil Stadium may have the new artificial stuff, but he ability to close the roof lets them host many more events, especially the NCAA Basketball Final Four every four years or so. The Bengals wanted grass so bad, but after a few years and some I-Team stories, they gave up and switched to FieldTurf. Oh, and Indianapolis will have the Super Bowl in 2012. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucas_Oil_Stadium

The Interpreter
Economy slows 49ers' stadium plans; could it lead to talks with Raiders?: Given the disruption of the bond markets and the 49ers' continuing impasse with the Ohio company {Cedar Fair} that controls the land where the 68,000-seat stadium would be built, the team's plan to begin construction next year for a 2012 opening is almost certainly defunct, sources said. Santa Clara Mayor Patricia Mahan said the recession could force Santa Clara to pare back its financial investment of up to $136 million in redevelopment money in the project.... Also looming is a stalemate between the 49ers and Cedar Fair Entertainment, the Ohio amusement park company that owns Great America. Over the past six months, "there's been no progress in that area," Lang said. A Cedar Fair spokeswoman, Stacy Frole, said the company is still willing to sell its interest in Great America to the 49ers, clearing a path to build the stadium on Great America's main parking lot, but she agreed there has been no significant progress. "It's the same situation," she said.... http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_11419367 Registration or http://www.bugmenot.com may be required. The company has said it wants financial concessions in exchange for its support, including unilateral control over stadium scheduling during Great America's season and parking revenue from the stadium. The Interpreter
Stalled negotiations and economic uncertainty now have the San Francisco 49ers eyeing a vote in November rather than June on their proposed $900 million stadium in Santa Clara - a delay that could leave the team stuck at Candlestick Park well into the next decade. At the very least, team officials acknowledge that the extra five months before a vote means the Niners' hoped-for home near the Great America amusement park probably won't be built by their self-imposed deadline of 2012.... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...&type=49ers

FOFirehawkFAN
[Cedar Fair] would seek to sell excess land or theme parks in Toronto, Cleveland, Kansas City and Minnesota, as well as continue discussions with the 49ers about the potential sale of Great America. This seems sad, are they really considering the sale of Canada's Wonderland? I thought that was one of the top performing parks?!?!
