The Interpreter
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 28 November 2007 fun@holidayworld.com 'YouTube' TO HOST HOLIDAY WORLD ANNOUNCEMENT SANTA CLAUS, IN-----The wildly popular YouTube.com website will host a theme park expansion announcement for the first time ever Thursday morning when a Holiday World video is made available on that site. "We thought it would be fun to make a video and post it on YouTube, detailing what we're adding to the parks for next year," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari president Will Koch. "Happily, we shot the piece in one take." Earlier this fall, Koch announced the addition of the Kima Bay water-play complex to Splashin' Safari. He and his mom, Pat Koch, reveal two ride additions for Holiday World plus a few more surprises in the ten-minute video. The video will be available on YouTube.com beginning at 9:00 am CST (10:00 am EST) Thursday morning, using the title "Holiday World Announcement." A direct link to the video will be provided on the HoliBlog, the park's blog, at www.holidayworld.com. Holiday World & Splashin' Safari will open for the 2008 season in May. Delirium_Guy
http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/holiblog.html Theres the link.... (Could someone post whats in the video?....I'm at a school and Youtubes blocked) They are adding a new carousel to the 4th of July section called Star Spangled Carousel. They are also adding 30 foot junior tower ride called Reindeer Games. Its the relocated Moser Spring Ride from Wild West World. They will also be adding a new bathroom & Pepsi oasis to Splashin' Safari located near Bakuli. Tram service will be extended over to the Legend Parking Lot. Finally, clocks will be added all over the Park to help guest coordinate their meeting times, since most of Indiana is on Eastern time and HW is on Central. All good additions, especially the Carousel. Now, if they'd just add a steel coaster...... - Todd
Dvo
I figured if they were posting it on Youtube it was going to be a revolutionary attraction. Not complaining, just a little surprised.
ragerunner
Holiday World just keeps on growing and getting better. I liked the little discussion about a future steel coaster. I wonder if 2009 will be the year?
westcoaster
Wow there great, Holiday world we'll see what this years attraction is but I feel there first coaster in stell will be something like Pony Express/ or a wild mouse then later a huge coaster. But wow Holiday world if they could just get better kids area, they indeed are really building a family empire!
AintNutinElse2Do
After watching that video I'm glad they are adding rather than subtracting but I'll have to say I was a bit dissapointed it wasn't something bigger even a bigger flat would of been good. Now I can definitely see why "if" Kings Island was to get say a ferris wheel why they would wait til closer to opening day to tell us. If Kings Island built up a lot of hype and then was like we're getting a ferris wheel sure most of us would be glad but a lot of us would just be like all that hype for a ferris wheel geez. I'm not saying that KI will get a ferris wheel (though imho we will) I'm just saying that a park the calibur of Kings Island may be best just slipping in a ferris wheel rather than make a big spectacle about it. BoddaH1994
It's rare that these secondary announcements are anything big.
ragerunner
What was interesting about this was the way they used the internet to announce the attractions and the image they presented to the public (family, fun and relaxed environment). I think this is a great way to market and they make it feel very personal (not saying they really are not that way), but they are smart to use it to their advantage. The Interpreter
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 29 November 2007 fun@holidayworld.com CAROUSEL, FAMILY SPRING RIDE ADDED FOR '08 SANTA CLAUS, IN----- The family ride line-up at Holiday World will expand to include a patriotic carousel and a bouncy spring ride in 2008. "We announced Kima Bay two months ago, with the promise of more," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari president Will Koch. "This morning we posted a video announcement on YouTube with the news about our Star Spangled Carousel and Reindeer Games ride." Star Spangled Carousel, which will be added to the park's 4th of July section, will include a mixture of 30 horses and other animals, plus two chariots. "Our guests have implored us to add a carousel for years," says Koch. "We think this beautiful ride will make a lot of families very happy." The second ride, Reindeer Games, is a smaller version of the popular Liberty Launch drop ride. Located in the park's Christmas section, the three-story "spring ride" will give children of all ages a chance to leap in the air like reindeer. Rounding out the announcement is a series of improvements including additional restrooms and another Pepsi Oasis in Splashin' Safari, a tram for the Legend Parking Lot, and a number of outdoor clocks in both parks. In September, Koch announced a monkey-themed family waterplay attraction would top the list of $6 million in additions for 2008. Kima Bay, in Splashin' Safari, will feature seven water slides plus more than 100 water-play elements, including more than 125 water jets. The four-story interactive structure will be topped by a 1,200-gallon ever-filling, ever-tipping bucket of water. "Kima is the Swahili word for monkey," says Koch. "We think children will especially enjoy the fun monkey theming, nearly as much as all the climbing, splashing and sliding in store for them at Kima Bay." Koch says Kima Bay, Star Spangled Carousel, and Reindeer Games will add a considerable amount of capacity, which is an ongoing priority at the parks. He predicts the need to hire an additional 50 seasonal employees for 2008. Holiday World & Splashin' Safari will open for the 2008 season in May. For more information about the parks, visit www.holidayworld.com or call 1-877-Go-Family. # # # # # #
Vortex
I can see Holiday World get a Reindeer theme coaster like Pony Express in the future. Also I thought at one time they also wanted a full size train around the park like Kings Island has, does anyone know more about that?
